Great food and service and a local business that is serving the community for years. Can’t wait till the next time I go there!

DH and I went to Grand Old Mill on a Friday so there was no doubt that DH would opt for the Deep Fried Cod. Very generous serving with 4 pieces. He passed on the fries and instead had a baked potato. I had the shrimp sauted in butter. Again a generous serving. My mixed vegetables were a bit overdone and not too flavorful. Side salads were fine, but not memorable. Wish we would have ordered the relish tray. What we saw on nearby tables looked tempting. Liked the small town, old fashioned feel of the Grand Old Mill. If we lived in the area, I am sure we would make GOM a regular stop.

It is safe. The food is not great but it is dar from bad. The interior is dated, but they are okay with it. As some have stated… it appeals to a specific crowd. They are safe.

I heard a lot of good things about this places. So I was really looking forward to it. It’s a very cute places. the food was just ok. My son loved his burger, but the fish fry was mediocre. The biggest issue was the restaurant was extremely hot. Which made it very hard to enjoy being there. The poor waitress was sweating profusely. I was very anxious to leave so I cool off.

Cute atmosphere. I liked the old time feel of the interior. Relish tray was great, my son loved it– snacking on cheese and crackers before dinner. Kept him quite occupied. I had steak– it was good– not the greatest I’ve had at super fancy places but decent enough. I would go back just for the fact I loved how comfortable it was and try another entrée.

Please ask for Barb, she knows everything on the menu and makes expert suggestions. Ribeye was tender and juicy, ribs could have been more saucy and meaty. Loved the relish tray. Will visit again when we are in town.

We love this place. quaint atmosphere. We love not being rushed like so many other places do to you. Just being in a building that has survived a century is just amazing. Civil war era. Love the staff and the owner!

The food was excellent and the service fantastic! Our waitress was Barb and she made us feel like we were at her home. We went here for our anniversary and was not disappointed. We both had filet medallions. I had the Neptune Trio and my wife had the Onion Ring Medallions. Both were excellent. The soup was a pasta soup and was seasoned perfectly. We had the deep fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were made there, not the frozen ones you normally get at most restaurants. Since it was a Thursday night, we were given a complimentary relish tray and the liver pâté was fantastic! We will definitely go back.

Every year my wife and I have stopped here for once a year in October for many years. We did a re-enactment in the area called Trail of History. The place has changed over the years, but we’ve always liked it. It’s a nice local Mom and Pop style restaurant. The atmosphere is quant. You can tell it’s not a large operation. The food is good. We’ve never had bad food there. I love their liver and onions with bacon. The last time we went I ordered the Prime Rib and it was delicious! My wife had one of their specials that were filet medallions stuffed with crab meat. We both enjoyed our meals. The only issue we have is that the service is a little slow. We’ve been coming here for over 10 years and I swear we had the same waitress 8 of those 10 years. She’s an older lady that is very polite and nice. This last time we had a different one, but she was nice. Niceness only gets you so far. When we request something and it takes 5 – 15 minutes to get, like the check, it gets a little annoying. I also find it amusing they use small push carts to deliver the food. Overall, if you are in the area and looking for a reasonably priced meal, but aren’t pressed for time, I’d recommend giving them a try.

OMG! Where has this place been for the last 22 years I’ve been in the area. Excellent NY Strip. My husband had the pork chops which he said were phenomenal! Barbara, our server was absolutely the most friendly, helpful, efficient server we have had. Definitely will be back. A must try! You won’t be disappointed.

Service was excellent. Drinks were very good… I know it’s supposed to be romantic it was dark but could use an upgrade on the interior… The food was good not great choice not prime but I wasn’t paying for prime either prices were reasonable… Chopped chicken liver pâté’ was really good, you don’t find that much anymore. Clam chowder was very good although could have used more clams… My steak was cooked just the way I like it… I gave it 4 stars but should be more like 3−1÷2

Great little gem in the small town of Wonder Lake. If this place was in a larger city, it would always be packed. I can’t think of anything to complain about — service was great, drinks were especially strong and delicious, and the food was delicioius and very well prepared. The atmosphere is really nice, we got sat against the window and had a great view of the entire restaurant. Our waitress was basically waiting at our table for us when we were seated and got our drinks right away which is always a great start to the dinner experience. The portion sizes were large and fairly priced and I highly recommend the French Onion Soup. If you’re in the area you have to stop on by!

Easily my favorite restaurant in Wonder Lake, Grand Old Mill is a small harbor of delightful meals in an area otherwise devoid of decent, classy restaurants. Grand Old Mill’s food is good. All of it. I’ve tried their fish, chicken, and roast duck and never once been disappointed. The portions are large, especially for the price, and they generally all come with sides. Of note, the French Onion Soup is a masterpiece. Also, the wait staff are friendly and have, generally, been stable since I moved to Wonder Lake three years ago. In fact, last time I went I was waited on by the same person who had served me three years earlier and a number of other times. A special treat for the kiddies, Grand Old Mill sits on the Nippersink Creek and carp know they can be fed near the overlook. Keep an extra pre-dinner roll and on your way out feed the carp. It’s fun, even for adults. I only have two detractions from Grand Old Mill, and neither is significant enough to reduce the score from five stars. 1– The men’s bathroom is tiny. If you’re claustrophobic, make sure you thoroughly empty your bladder prior to visiting. 2– The water is well water. Don’t order water without a lemon wedge and don’t order the iced tea. The well water changes the iced tea’s flavor and makes it excessively bitter with a strong aftertaste. However, Grand Old Mill is the place for nice dinners in Wonder Lake and it is worth the drive, almost no matter the distance. In terms of similar cuisine, I often compare Grand Old Mill to Wildfire in Lincolnshire(thought not in terms of cost.)
