The other reviews for the dentist Cindy Nguyen are pretty spot-​on. She is indeed fantastic. My mom went here for a filling for a broken tooth. We were temporarily without dental insurance so we had to pay out of pocket for the procedure. We went for a morning appointment for an initial price quote. The initial appointment cost was pretty high compared to other dentists ($ 72) but we were only charged $ 35 due to a monthly «special.» $ 30-​$ 40 seems to be closer to the norm for an initial appointment for most doctors in the area. Pricing for the filling itself seemed pretty reasonable ($ 178, including X-​rays). She explained my mom’s options for dealing with her broken tooth and she had us come back in the afternoon to complete the filling and took care of it quickly. She seems very skilled. My mom says there was still some pain but since the procedure was done efficiently it was mostly minimized.
My issues with the dental practice are mainly to due with the office building itself. This place is tiny! Try to avoid coming on Saturday morning because it is packed by parents taking their children here. The wait room only has about 8 chairs and it is standing room only on Saturday morning. The procedure rooms are also pretty cramped. Staff is generally friendly but there seems to be some communication issues between the dentist and the staff regarding pricing and procedures. For instance, the receptionist didn’t know about the discounted pricing for the initial consultation even though I emailed their office ahead of time to confirm it. Also the dental assistant wasn’t aware that my mom already took x-​rays in the morning when she returned for an afternoon appointment to get the actual filling completed. Those are the main things they could improve on: move to a larger location to accommodate their high volume of patients and better communication between dentists and staff regarding pricing and procedures.

Went to her. After waiting for more than 30+ minutes, I am taken in and some assistant starts the cleaning with polishing and floss. I tell her I find it odd, but she told me every office has different procedures. Then I am waiting endlessly and the dentist shows up. She said «Oh she (assistant) has cleaned your teeth and I am going to clean a «Little bit» more. I was not sure what to make out of this comment. She used some big wand and was done in 5 minutes. She told me that it is the new technology as opposed to the manual cleaning/​scaling that I always got. New to VA and miss my previous dental practice in MD. I pointed out to her that I don’t feel clean as I can still see a lot of plaque build up between my teeth and gum line. She was not ready to pay any attention and do anything manually. I was surprised that she was into financial too much and was able to quote me instantly the cost of future treatments that she said are needed.
In between I was just left for a long time not knowing what is next.
Since I was so surprised that the cleaning started with polishing and not any other real cleaning, I asked the same assistant if she has observed this in any other office. She told me this was her first. That made me a little nervous. Not sure about any credentials/​experience of the person/​assistant.
I regret going to her and would never go again to her. I am 55+ and have never experienced such crass service ever before. This is my first ever review, but felt very strongly to write it. Feeling sorry for myself.

Just took my 3 y/​o daughter there for her first cleaning and checkup. She was nervous but Dr Nguyen, the hygienist and particularly the receptionist were all very sweet and friendly. As a parent, I felt respected by Dr Nguyen. I was very happy with the service we got!

We recently switched to here for our dental service. We first tried out whitening and then went through cleaning and checkups. She now sees our whole family. Our kids are 11, 9, and 5. She and her staff are great with them too. We highly recommend her for cosmetic as well as routine care.
