Well it started out great and then went quickly down hill. It’s utterly disappointing when a restraunt looks as amazing as this one does, but doesn’t live up to the way it wants people to perceive it. It was a party of fifteen people in a private room for my cousins 21st birthday party. We started out with appetizers, we ordered the calamari, fresh mozzarella with roasted peppers, shrimp and chorizo. There was nothing wrong with the food, but the service was absolutely horrendous. When you order for fifteen people you would think to make enough for everybody to at least receive one serving of each appetizer. This was not the case at all, the waiters would hastily give you a serving but by the time they reached the end of the table certain members wouldn’t receive a serving of that appetizer. And I would understand if they offered to bring more out but they just kept going without offering. When we finished with our small appetizers we all decided to start off with a single serving of penne ala-vodka. Not even two seconds after receiving our starters we were all hastily given menus whilst trying to eat and talk to each other and immediately ask to pick out our main course. The feeling of being rushed, was like non other that I’ve ever experienced at a restraunt before. It came off very rude and unprofessional. It gets better. So now that we were literally rushed through our appetizers and starters; after our orders were put in, we sat for about an hour and twenty minutes before we even saw our main courses. And I will add were not even close to being worth that wait. Everything was pretty much over cooked. I personally had the chicken francaise, and the chicken tasted as if it had been over cooked and way over salted. It was also supposed to come with a side of pasta which I never even received. To top things all off when it came to cake and coffee time, the cake was served in a very disproportionate manner where one person would receive a portion not even fit for a pheasant, mean while another would receive a piece fit for a king. We weren’t even offered a second cup of coffee. For a supposed higher up Italian restraunt this falls far below that rank. For the prices charged which are staggering for the serviced received, I would never recommend this place to any person.

My husband picked this place for our 18th wedding anniversary. We have passed by at least 100 times always saying we will get there., well I’m very glad we did. I would recommend to anyone looking for nice dinner and bottle of wine. The menu was very nice., the waiters were very attentive and very willing to please. I was very impressed with how the staff knew many of the customers by name. Elegant and tasty definitely try this place out you won’t be disappointed.

For appetizer the shrimp over sauted spinach and the tuna tartar were ordered, both of which were beyond delicious. For entrée, the lamb chops and the filet mignon were tender, well seasoned and melted in your mouth. Enjoyed a great finish with a homemade tiramisu and cappuccino. Although on the pricier side, it exceeded my expectation in food and wine. Mouth is still watering the next day.

Went there last night for birthday celebration. Made and confirmed reservations for 8pm. Was told wait a few minutes. 40 minutes later had to ask(we waited at the bar area and gad a drink) as there was no where else to go. Nice sunny foyer area closed as apparently they sold side lot where you could turn in from Main St to assist with the apt building dwarfing the restaurant. You have no choice but to enter through the bar area. We indicated to the maitre’d that we had been waiting 40 minutes with a reservation. They did NOT offer to comp us the drinks, dessert or appetizers. NO customer focused service at all. Said they were sorry. Heard that a large party didn’t leave on time so they had been backed up all day. RIDICULOUS. Food was good: friends ordered chicken Marsala, caprese salad, hailibut fish special and crab cake. I had the rack of lamb special with the shrimp arrribiatta, which was a generous portion. Friends husband ordered after dinner cordial that we had to re ask where it was at 10:30 at night with restaurant nearly empty. It came quick then as apparently it had been sitting at the bar. I used to like the place and while food is good, service was not and put a damper on an event celebration that should have been happy. Won’t go back any time soon.

Without a doubt one of the finest restaurants I have eaten in — Period. Amazingly enthusiastic, attentive and non-obtrusive staff. You can tell when someone really enjoys their job. I had the Halibut yesterday after putting in some memory work time at my deceased uncle’s house; moist, flaky, seasoned to perfection. Between that, the homemade Tiramisu and the espresso, and a perfect whiskey sour, my cousin and I had another perfect lunch to share memories. Bless you Castello’s!

Group meal — so caveat required… or not. Beautiful experience from beginning to end — welcoming staff and attentive to our needs, accommodating despite the crowd… what a pleasure to be here. Must have excellent training and a beautiful service oriented culture. Ordered the veal chop and did not want the accompaniment so asked for some accommodation… which was definitely well received and accepted — loved that. The chip was nice and thick and certainly high quality. tender to the touch and cuttable like a hot knife through butter. juicy to the extreme and the broccoli rabe was exquisite., Salads were super fresh and the side dish of pasta and the appetizer platters over the top fresh varied and tasty. Tried a few items and all were superb Must go back — what a find!

Food is excellent every time I go. The décor is basic but clean. The service is good but a little slower then I’d like.

I love everything about this place! It’s attractive, warm, the service is excellent, the menu is varied and supplemented with specials, and the food is beautifully presented, excellent in taste and generous in portions. Even the parking is easy! Why it’s taken me so long to find it is a mystery! Enjoy.

Lovely, intimate atmosphere. Service was outstanding. I couldn’t decide between the artichoke shrimp pasta and a pasta with cauliflower, broccoli, anchovy and tomato so I asked our server his opinion. He asked, «Do you trust me?» Since I was in an open-minded mood, I said, «Sure, surprise me!» To my delight, when dinner was served my plate included a mini-portion of BOTH dishes. Both were delicious(although I did slightly prefer the artichoke shrimp pasta).

I was part of a large work group that had dinner here recently. I thought the appetizers were very good, but the yellow fin tuna special I had was seriously over cooked. I should have stuck to the Italian food I guess. I can’t comment on the price(I assume it is expensive) as I did not pick up the bill, but I will not rush back here.

I was being taken out to dinner at this place so I had no expectation and I had never heard the name of this place before. First thing that got my attention of this place was how detailed the interior was. Wall Painting, Chandeliers, Perfect Lighting & the Soft sound of the music were perfect for a Date. Except this time I was being taken out. When it came to the food, we had ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms and I had Salmon for my main course. There were 2 large pieces and they were just«OK». When it came to the Salmon, it was perfectly baked/cooked and the presentation was fabulous. What I REALLY liked about the place was how the staff paid attention to each table. They kept their distance from the table but every time the glass was out of Wine or Water, one of them came up and refilled it for us. The Manager came up to our table twice and asked us how things were and he did that to all the other tables. I was going to take away half a star for the portion of the Salmon they served as I was still a little hungry afterwards but now that I think back, this is no TGI Fridays or Applebees with greasy and fattening food so it was actually perfect! I am definitely going to come back and try their other dishes.

Amazing atmosphere, diverse menu, awesome bar area. This is, however, the most overrated place I’ve encountered in a good long while. It’s expensive. It’s portions are small. The waitstaff is extremely unhelpful. And I will not be going back again. Go up the street to Venezia. For that matter, go to knot just bagels. Youll at least be full when you walk out.

Reasonably priced and excellent food. I had the pan roasted branzino and sautéed broccoli rabe. Both were fresh and were cooked to perfection. The servers were very knowledgeable about the menu an the were attentive making sure everyone in our group had water and the other beverages we needed. All of the pasta dishes were reasonably priced under $ 20 and the main entrees were priced in the mid $ 20s. For the quality of the food these prices are a great value. I would highly recommend Il Castello’s as a place to impress a date or a business client. Excellent.

Extremely elegant atmosphere and an outstanding menu with excellent food. Although the entrees are very reasonable in the low $ 20s range, the place can get expensive when you add in appetizers, drinks, and desserts. We were a party of 10 and the bill came out to $ 135/couple with tax and tip. For what we had, it was worth it. We got to chat with a group at another table who were from Marlboro and we asked why they came down this way and they told us this place is great. My only problem was with our waiter. Not terrible but not up to the standard of the rest of the place. At one point he was rushing us but when there was a problem with one of our dishes, he was pretty slow in correcting it. They have a really good Caesar Salad here. Those who had the Veal Milanese raved about it. The menu is basically classic Italian with a flair and it’s is very good.

I’ve eaten here twice when I’m in the area for my company. Both times the company took me so I can’t speak to the prices, but they seem to be on the high end. As a business they are trying very hard to be an authentic Italian eatery, but to me it still feels like I’m eating at a restaurant in NJ. Not anything wrong with that, but let’s call a spade a spade. The food is pretty good. I don’t normally eat seafood, but they brought out a family style appetizer set up and filled our plates with sausage & spinach, calamari & shrimp, as well as some tomato mozzarella and red peppers. I ate it all and didn’t have a problem with it. I’ve ordered the same thing each time I went here and in hindsight I wish I hadn’t. I got the tri colored fusilli bolognese. Basically pasta with meat sauce and it’s VERYGOOD. Tasted better the first time I was there. I had a salad as well one time which was really good. If I ever go back I would like to try their Caesar salad. I would recommend going here if you’re in the area, but if I lived there, I’d probably not frequent this restaurant too often.

I had a baptism party here a few weeks ago. Place is not huge but big enough to fit the entire party. Décor inside is typical Italian style. Food, very good. The appetizers were buffet style. Meats, cheeses, calamari, egg plant rollatini, olives… all yummy. The main course was split b/w my gf and I. I had the pasta(cream red sauce was outstanding) and she had the ravioli. I like mine better but both were good. Wine selection was very good. The wait staff were friendly and on top of things. Definitely worth a stop in. ENJOY!

Had a very nice clam spaghetti with white sauce here. There was some delicious cheese brought to the table as well(fontina?). Food overall was impeccable and very reasonably priced. Yum. But the atmosphere was a bit stodgy and definitely skewed to the over 50 crowd. Dining room felt empty and the service, while very knowledgeable, wasn’t attentive.

I’ve been here several times. Why the restaurant is rated as a $$$ is beyond me. I found it very reasonable, dining with my girlfriend for less than 60 dollars without wine or alcohol when we were on a budget during school. The chef must be a big fish fan, or have had a good batch of crab meat that week, because both times we were there, crab meat was in a lot of the specials. Both of the entrees we order were good. Here is the only part I am a bit up in the air about. The dress. I wore a decent sweater, jeans, and black shoes. While none of the other customers particularly made me feel out of place, the waiters are in formal attire. If I ever go back again, I will wear a collared shirt. Would recommend.
