Torrid

I took a three hour flight and drove 40 minutes ready to do a lot of shopping at this location, unfortunately I had to walk out the door due to rude treatment, and complete lack of assistance by the staff. As there are no accessible Torrid locations in Miami that i know of, and plus sizes are particularly hard to find there, I was very excited to pick up a new suitcase full of clothing at Torrid, when I was around the area for the holidays. I had researched the website, looked at the inventory, and was ready to really try things on and shop in person. There were two other women in the store at the time as well as three employees. Both women were being helped with sizes, fitting rooms, and explanations. If you have never shopped at a plus size store before, it’s actually quite hard to decipher how the sizes work. So I picked all the wrong sizes, walked past three associate’s chatting, and helped myself into the fitting room. After trying on half a dozen articles of clothing I was a little too exhausted to put my clothes back on and go pick up another half a dozen of the same items in a different size (all because I didn’t really understand the sizes). Two associates at different times walked into the fitting room asking the other guest if she needed a different size, and never said a word to me. I can only imagine it was because I look like a Miami city slicker and completely out of place in suburban VA, or I simply did not look plus size enough to be in there in the first place. Again it’s really hard to shop for a size 12 in Miami, a city where size 2 is the average, so I was really looking forward to my visit at Torrid. In any case I walked out upset, unsatisfied, and empty-​handed. Will try Torrid online in the future for all my plus size needs.

The one thing I love about this store is the variety of styles. Unfortunately mixed in is definitely some bag-​lady, clearly color blind choices.
This location specifically is nicely sized and organized. The clearance items are always full in the back so there’s lots to choose from. They’re super friendly when getting you a fitting room and even offer some input.

I make a 2 hr drive to this place and I’m not ashamed. The clothes are cute and fit well. However, depending on the item the quality can be a little lack luster but overall the clothes don’t fall under the category. While everything is super cute the jewelry is low quality good for a few wears and don’t dare get water on em… wished they allowed franchising because I’d be all over it.

If your a plus size woman… who loves real fashion (like your in your 20’s)…
