I came here because it’s close, and I have to eat sushi at least twice a week(maybe more but I like to tell myself it’s twice). I think the wait staff is very nice, and the fish is alright. There were a good amount of people in the restaurant and enjoying themselves too(be advised this place is not so big, so don’t come here with a group). The thing that got me the most was during my meal the staff(chef and server) proceeded to push the garbage through the dinning room(while people were eating), and put it outside(could that not have waited?). I also am not a big fan of someone handing me my soup with their finger half inside holding it(maybe I’m just a germaphobe) but still(trays?). All and all the foods alright, and the staff is nice.

Affordable prices, great fried ice cream, we had a combo sushi platter big enough to share. They need more selection on drinks but otherwise clean and relaxing. Nice addition to the neighborhood.

This is a really nice place. It’s a bit small but very clean. The waiter was very nice. Me and my sister went there and didn’t know what to order and he helped us choose. It wasn’t that busy but it did have a few people. The ambiance wasn’t romantic it was more of a casual place u would go to lunch with ur friends: it had a nice feel to it and it made me want to go back many more time. The sushi was fresh and delicious. It was a bit of a wait maybe like 10 min but it was worth the wait. I suggest anyone who wanted to try sushi for the first time to go there. Me and my sister will definitely go back there.

Went for dinner yesterday and still feeling the aftereffects of the resulting food coma. Service was friendly and efficient — Pablo is always nearby if you need anything, but never hovering over us. I loved the ambience of the restaurant — clean and relatively quiet, it was easy to hold a conversation without having to raise my voice to be heard. For apps, we ordered the beef negimaki, ika fried squid, and fried bananas — it was clear that everything was made fresh as our fried apps had definitely come straight from the fryer. We also ordered the flavored iced tea. I tried both the passionfruit and mango. I personally preferred the mango flavor as the flavor was stronger and sweeter but both were very refreshing! For entrees, I got the rock n’ roll(if you love salmon skin, GETTHIS) and the Mexican roll. My friends all got different hibachi dinners(salmon, steak, filet mignon) and a couple also ordered rolls. Everyone really liked their food, and the portion sizes are so generous that it was difficult to finish everything. But of course, we have a separate stomach for dessert, so we ordered chocolate and matcha fried ice creams. NOREGRETS. I really liked the batter used for the fried ice cream — just slightly sweet to complement the ice cream inside, with a light and fluffy inner texture and a great crispy exterior. TL;DR Really great food at an amazing price point(all this food for ~$ 30 a person!!!). All in all, great experience at U-Me Sushi! I look forward to going back!

I really enjoy my experience every time I eat here. The restaurant itself is cosy, well decorated, and clean. The waiter that is usually there is very friendly and there when you need him. The owners that own the liquor store next door always remember you and greet you. The food is really good. I usually order sushi rolls, salmon avacado and rainbow roll are some favorites. They have good portions and good prices. Tonight I went with my parents for mom’s bday and it was a good time. My mom and dad had the shrimp and filet mignon which they both enjoyed. They sang and the fried ice cream was good. It’s nice to have a place in your own neighborhood. There are not many quality places around here. I will definitely be going back and recommend that you go and enjoy.

This is to second time I ordered from Ume Sushi and I absolutely love everything that they have there. The sushi is fresh and I never have a problem with their delivery service.

Lunch special had very good choices. I had shrimp tempura, my boyfriend had the chicken tempura, and we shared 3 rolls of sushi. Total was less than $ 40 for all of it. They don’t serve any alcohol however, just to keep that in mind.

I came here with my beautiful fiancée, and we were horrified. The service was okay, they did take a while to take the order, and the wait for the food was long as well. The food itself was alright, but you could definitely taste that the meat used was old and not fresh. After finishing dessert, we were waiting for the check, when, what do you know, a cockroach comes crawling on the wall next to our table. It was extremely unsanitary and we left immediately after paying. I am definitely never coming back here again. Yeah, there’s finally a sushi spot in the neighborhood, but I would rather drive all the way out to Astoria for some quality food and no unwelcome little critters on my table.

I love this place, have ordered pick-up twice but looking forward to dining in soon. They just started delivery too if you call restaurant directly and are nearby. It is much better quality than most of the other delivery available in the area. We have ordered mostly just sushi and sushi rolls. The special rolls are great but today we got a basic spicy tuna roll and it was amazing!

The service is good and the food is great. Maybe because they just open they’re showing off their best foot. The place is well lit and the decór is very modern and cozy. An excellent addition to the neighborhood being this the only Japanese place around.

So happy they opened up a sushi spot in this area, it was most needed. First time I came in I just asked for a menu and the girl at the counter was very friendly. I also stopped by for the two roll lunch special. I tried the Spicy Kani, and the Philadelphia Roll. They both were tasty and fresh. Will definitely be coming back to dine in and for some more takeout!

First the good things about this place. We tried the eel avocado(off menu), alaskan, and spicy salmon rolls. The old man behind the sushi counter sure knows how to make delicious rolls. Also tried the tonkatsu(fried pork cutlet), and it was okay. I wished they used a thicker slice of pork, instead of the pancake thin one. So overall, the food is good for a neighborhood sushi restaurant. Now the bad. What comes next is personal experience, so you may have a different one than me, but it was bad enough for me that I might not go anymore. So I’ve ordered a total of 3 times here already, for takeout. The first two times, I’ve ordered eel avocado rolls for my lunch. Since it is off the menu, I asked if they can make it. First time, they said yes and proceeded with the order. Second time, they said yes, but will charge $ 0.75 extra per roll. No problem. Third time, they said yes, and then I proceeded to pick up the order as usual. The annoyed latino man behind the cash register said in an accusatory voice«I told you last time that we will charge you extra for the rolls, but we won’t charge you this time. Next time we will.» No laugh, no «heeey, we’re going to charge you next time». Just all irritation, with a staredown. I’m not sure if he was given crap from the boss about the order, or he was an ill-mooded person, but telling off your customer is not the way to go. If you’re moody, eat a Snickers or something. By the way, the owner of the sushi place is the same nice old asian man that owns the liquor store next door. He’s a good guy, and we say hi when I see him around. It’s a new sushi place, and I’d imagine he might not have vetted all of his employees fully. It’s a bit of a rant, but you know, there’s an easy fix. Just put the eel avocado roll into the menu. I haven’t been to a NY sushi takeout place without eel avocado rolls. Look at the name of this sushi place. It’s U-Me, like Umi, Omi, Omiya, and 100s of variation of other NY sushi restaurants that have basically the same menu, with the same basic rolls.

First time ordering from here and love it! I had the pork gyoza, New century roll, pink lady roll, rainbow roll, fantastic roll, and the golden Dragon. All were delicious. It’s great to have another option around this area for dinner! Worth checking out for sure.

No. No No No. To avoid the long-winded diatribe where I digress endlessly and tangentially about all the things that went wrong with this experience, I will limit my unhappiness to a quick, short list that any prospective patrons should consider. 1. Don’t keep staring at the person standing waiting to place a take out order and then ignore them when they ask for help: I stood, for what seemed like eons, waiting for the 1 waiter tending to the not-so-full house of 3 tables of couples, for him to ignore my pleas for assistance. To my delight the sushi chef behind the glass counter offered help. Only he didn’t speak full English and asked me to instead circle my desired items. This proved problematic later on. 2. Don’t move in and out of the restaurant passing waiting patrons who are obviously waiting for help. If you want to retain and/or nurture business, you need to ENGAGE your patrons. Don’t just look at them and walk by them. This will only frustrate them and make them hate you. As I do. 3. $ 40 for a super sub-par meal. The Katsu Don and Chicken Katsu were underwhelming and strangely put together, let alone under-seasoned. The one lobster tempura roll was… just weird. At that overall price, I’ll pass and keep it moving.

Finally needed a Sushi place in the neighborhood! The place is new, and starting up, so give them a try! we sure did… and more than once. Everyone has such negative comments, if they would back off and actually give them a chance, they would see the sushi is fresh, the ambience is chill, and the menu is extensive. PS the prices are reasonable =)) We def will come back!

Sushi was ok… Got the spicy tuna roll with spicy mayo on side… I’ve Had better… they Should replace the female in the front… seems like she had no clue about anything and handed me My fork from THE Fork area, rather than the handle… Also still wondering why 2 Rolls During lunch special was $ 11.99, When menu states $ 7.95…I’ll Give this place one More chance but probably getting something else instead Of Sushi..
