San Sai Japanese Grill

I used to really like this place and for the past two or three years it has just been going downhill. Honestly, I’m very disappointed. They skimp on the roe and other ingredients. Also, it doesn’t taste that fresh anymore. Staff is not the best either. With new fast food sushi places opening up I’d much rather leave this place in the past.

So I was reading the reviews on this location and I was a little turned off with all the bad reviews. But I wanted a chicken bowl and I saw the spicy chicken bowl and it seem to be perfect for me. So I ordered it online for it to be ready at 2:20 I walked in at 2:19 pleasantly greeted with a smile I let the cashier know I was here to pick up my online order and it was ready I signed the online receipt and I was on my way! My bowl with brown rice was $ 8.16 total came with a side of oriental salad good portion! Will be back

Disappointed… Smell as you walk in does not inspire confidence that the food will be fresh. Should have walked out. Cashier didn’t even bother to call the dishes what they are named on the menu and the floors were littered with receipts. Also gave the wrong change back and when brought to her attention did not seem surprised just went to drawer and got additional dollar. Which was still wrong. Won’t be back to this one. Wouldn’t be surprised if this location is closing soon.

Healthy alternatives for a great price. The chicken bowl with choice of 3 different salads and rice can not be beaten, in my opinion! The portions are generous and there is a choice of white or dark chicken.
I like this location. The staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is kept clean. The restaurant has also added nicely arranged drought tolerate succulents in ceramic planters for every table. Good healthy food, and some ambiance! Check them out!

Be careful the counter lady. She will do upsale without asking.
She does not know it is CHEATING. Owner might know what she is doing. I ordered chicken bowl. She registered chicken breast bowl which is 1 dollar more expensive without asking. She also offered more expensive rice without asking. Her name was Fabiola.

It is a nice, clean establishment but the food is not very good. It’s OK for lunch if you have low standards but if you’re a sushi lover, try something else. The good thing about this place is that they are very generous with the amount of food they serve.

Food is decent nothing to special. Very nice people work here and it’s super clean. Prices are a little high compared to others. Wouldn’t go out of my sh to eat here.

The chicken teriyaki bowl is ok with the oriental salad. Don’t get the tomato salad, not as good. The tempuras are also good, I still have to try their udon. Overall their lunch specials are good deals

Came in the restaurant and was overwhelmed by a fowl smell.
Approaching the counter it is littered with special price papers stuck everywhere with tape.
Ordered the sushi rolls with miso soup. Sat down and noticed the terrible décor. Please inform why a sushi restaurant would have mexican cactus plants everywhere. Made me feel like I was in a Mexican restaurant and very uncomfortable.
The miso soup sick and tasted terrible as if it was a week old. The sushi rolls were chewy, tasted bland and overwhelmed by avacado and cucumbers with the skin still on them.
Yeap, not coming back.

This is a decent place for a quick lunch in downtown if you are trying to avoid ridiculous lunch prices. Went in for the first time today and was satisfied.
I ordered the chicken bowl which came with a side salad for about $ 8. The chicken and rice were good but the salad was not. It seems like it’s been out for a bit. Still, I went for the chicken bowl so I wasn’t disappointed.
Will definitely be coming again! Gotta try the sushi!

Out of convenience I came back here and I think it’s growing on to me. The food is still okay but better than average

I recently was in the area and remembered how much I enjoyed eating at sansai. Had to stop in.
Food: great as usual. Had the rainbow roll and tiger roll. Soo good, clean taste and definitely filling. On that note i ordered a angus steak plate to share. Only San sai I’ve been to that serves angus meat.
Ambiance: plenty of seating and very clean, staff was very attentive and nice.
I had no problems with parking and seemed like they got the food out fast even while it was busy.
I would definitely stop in when I’m in the area. Didn’t disappoint… Thanks San Sai

Ate here the other day and gotta say, the chicken bowl was fantastic! Also tried the rainbow and tiger rolls, which were both delicious and fresh. Don’t miss out on this restaurant if you’re in the area and you’re craving some great Japanese food!

I wouldn’t normally write a review for a fast food sushi place, but I stopped by yesterday after a meeting to grab a fast bite and was surprised how friendly the owner Sukee treated us and started chatting with us. Thanks for the free Tempura. That was very kind. Will for sure stop by again, when in a rush.

I knew before walking into this place that it wouldn’t be a good idea to order raw fish, but I did it anyways. Why did I do it? I’m a moron, that’s why.
Came here on my lunch break and ordered the spicy tuna bowl to-​go. It’s served in a styrofoam box, and it’s a big portion of spicy tuna. It’s covered in spicy mayo and eel sauce. It was also topped with two small slices of avocado, and some cucumber shreds. When I bit into the cucumber, it was rotten — not crunchy, and had a foul taste. I moved it aside, and tried the tuna. The tuna was repulsive. It was rubbery and fibrous, and had tasted like it had been frozen and thawed out in a sink full of hot water. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever eaten. The rice was not sushi rice, it was just regular white rice. The flavor was wrong, and the texture was wrong. I felt really sick afterwards. I’ll never eat here again.

Was there around 3PM and we got 3 chicken bowels. As a chain food restaurant — it was clean and staff was friendly. Foodwise — inconsistent, reheated chicken and I would not try the sushi.
I did not expect it to taste like a reheated chicken from previous day and the rice was very dry. My friends like eating here, but I was expecting better taste especially for around $ 8 for a chicken bowel with salad yet the portions are ok.
The 2 stars for a clean and friendly place.

Not important for them to make your phone orders til you get there. I purposely called to have the food ready while on my lunch break and when I got there they explained to me it takes longer to cook my chicken breasts, that’s why it would taking so long. Then realized I made the order 20 minutes prior, shrugged his shoulders and said Oh Sorry.
Damn… I’m back at work still hungry.

Not impressed.
I’d hoped that the food would be good in this location, because it was the only place in the strip mall that was full of people, so I took a chance.
The green salad was slimy. Pasta salad was dry. Beef and Chicken were dry and flavorless. The crunch roll was «Ok»
The food was cold and bland. I only ate a few bites. $ 20. wasted.

This place was surprisingly good. Chicken, rice, California rolls, two types of salad, and rice for under $ 9. Can’t beat that. It’s not Yamashiro but it’s good for the price. Unfortunately they serve Pepsi products here (yuk) and the service was incredibly slow, but I’d go back for the amount of food you get for the money and it’s better than a burger joint.

There is really nothing spectacular about this place. Everything is mediocre tasting.
Sushi is surely not their area of expertise, so don’t bother ordering it here. They have some good salads, but again nothing extra ordinary to write home about. If you’re in the mood for Americanized Japanese food, then this is your choice.
Service is standard and prices are moderate to moderate high. Not my cup of tea.
