I bought a truck in woodland and before I picked it up I took my wife to breakfast and this place was our choice. Showed up to find it closed on that day. Found another retired head out to woodland and found that they would be open so gave them a shot. Was very quiet inside. We placed our order at the front counter which is kinda odd. Coffee is self serve next to the soda machine again odd. I had ordered the bacon waffle and it was very good. While we are someone came in and ordered a breakfast burrito to go which is great for the area because I would guess people are on the go in that part of town. Only suggestion I would have is if people are wanting to stay and eat they should order from a menu at the table

Great lil local diner/café I’ve been wanting to check out for months. I love elephants, too and enjoyed the cute décor. My Chef’s Omelet was terrific: fluffy, tasty, fresh veggies, bacon and ham cooked just right, really flavorful onions. Very decent coffee from the clean, well organized self serve coffee station. The staff are friendly and attentive. Dining room is clean, cheerful and bright. My only nit to pick is that the chairs need glides or felt dots on the feet, so they slide easier and more quietly. Maybe a $ 50 investment for a tad more safety and class. I’ll be back to sample more of the menu!

Great food with a huge menu – don’t let it overwhelm you because I don’t think there is anything you could get that wouldn’t be good anyhow. The last time we went we got food to go and everything tasted great, was hot and fresh. Only complaint we could have had was my daughter ordered the chilie cheese fries with the curly fries and the woman working the counter had to check if that was ok with management and see if there was an up charge for the different fry type – which there was and that’s no biggie. But after all that plus being charged extra for the chilie cheese curly fry – they didn’t make it with the curly fries but instead like normal with steak fries lol. Like I said not that big of a deal, will definitely be going again – just maybe double check everything before we leave if we custom order to go

Surprised! Food was tasty and filling! Wonderful and friendly people! It isn’t right off of the freeway, but it was worth the detour. The outside is not fancy and we were skeptical but decided to go in based on the previous reviews. We were not disappointed!

The people were super nice and my burrito made me happy. I got free French fries for the first friday of the month! A little off the beaten path but the quality and service and atmosphere is great!

This place is a hidden gem in woodland. They are great for brunch and I’ve heard great things about their pancakes. The whole restaurant knows exactly what décor they like and they definitely pursue that theme hard. I had the breakfast burrito and it had such a unique flavor! It has hash browns, eggs, ham/sausage, and house salsa. It’s a tiny bit spicy but some people probably wouldn’t even notice it. Also, on Fridays you get free French fries! I also saw that they have home made cheesecake in the fridge which I was really tempted to try but I’ll have to get it next time! Overall I give elephant shack 5 out of 5 enormous tusks!

Nice atmosphere. Good milk shake. Sandwich was disappointing. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and got more lettuce and tomato than chicken. Had two tiny strips of hard chicken for the whole sandwich and charged $ 8! What a rip off.

An amazing breakfast with a menu that covers the basics with a high quality. Brings back memories of grandmas special pancake breakfast… my kids now are not so easily satisfied with our normal home pancakes or waffles anymore. Price is very reasonable and once you taste the food you will not have reservations on returning like some other menus or prices.

My family and I tried Elephant Shack got lunch for the first time today. We were pleasantly surprised with everything. The gentleman at the counter was very, very friendly and helpful. Our food was delicious, especially the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and the strawberry milkshake. Prices were average for lunch. My only complaint, was when ordering they have speakers right above your head and it was really loud. We will be back.

This place is amazing. The sandwiches are awesome. Highly recommended. Staff was very friendly they even allowed us to bring our disabled dog inside so she didn’t have to sit in the car alone.

I try small local places whenever I can. I wanted to like this place, but was disappointed. Location and parking are good. We went mid-week about 8AM. Surprised NOT to see it packed with locals, and only one take-out during my visit. Menu as expected with some personal flair. Staff behind counter were crowded(too many?), underutilized, and disorganized. Coffee logistics a nightmare. This place could get a boatload more biz if they improve this. When ordering coffee, they hand you an empty cup. You move to the right side of the counter(crowd permitting) to fill it with an almost empty thermal carafe. Then you leave the counter area, almost, to the left for additives. I forget if they had milk or half&half, but it was an open pint carton, and empty. Back to table to try; weak generic brew. Suck it up(the experience, not the brew), and plan on getting good coffee after breakfast. I forget what my spouse ordered(remember she was not thrilled), but I got this ‘omelette’ that was basically an egg-crêpe folded over lukewarm ingredients. This place has such potential in an effective void of non-chain breakfast/lunch places. I’m convinced that if they just fixed their coffee logistics, they’d increase biz significantly. Even more if they keep the creamers full. As for the omelettes, I’m used to the ingredients being cooked INTO them, not inserted as an afterthought… but this may be a local preference.

Really good, quality food, great service and they are gluten-free friendly! If you are driving by, it’s worth a stop. You can tell the pride in their menu. They went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t get cross– contaminated. The pastrami was to die for, the fries were nice and crispy. Even the tea was good. Prices are reasonable. I’m so glad I stopped here instead of finding some fast food.

GREATBLUEBERRYPANCAKES! For only 3.99 you can’t beat them any where in town. Nice little café, nothing fancy but I LOVEELEPHANTS and they have the best elephant decorations. Nice for a very low key casual breakfast or lunch.

Can you say hidden gem? I can! Upon arriving to The Elephant Shack, I was a bit skeptical given the location and condition of the parking lot. However, upon entering, it was very nicely decorated. I came around October, so they had a halloween theme going on. I was overwhelmed by the menu because they had so many choices. I decided to go with the chicken bacon ranch on dutch crunch after much help from the worker there. It was absolutely delicious. The bread was nicely toasted, the chicken was grilled to perfection, and it was just great! They have a thing called French Fri-day where you get free fries on the first friday of every month! I’ve definitely got to come back and checck this place out when I visit my friends in Woodland.

The pancakes. Oh my GOD. I have never had better. I probably never will. They have this crust around the outer edge that reminds me of funnel cake. The Shack Skillet was amazing as well. The sausage added just a little spice, well balanced by the cheese and potatoes. My boyfriend had the country fried chicken, and I barely even saw it, he inhaled it so quickly. The gravy is amazing! Portions are rather generous. The two pancakes filled me, but I rolled right into the skillet anyway since it tasted so good! I will DEFINITELY come back again!

The remote outskirts of Woodland was the last place I ever expected to get a quality breakfast. We’d stayed over night after getting loose at a friend’s wedding the night before and were looking for some grub to soak up our mistakes. My wife and two friends stopped in here because, you guessed it, they are highly rated on Unilocal. I ended up ordering their classic«Wake Up» breakfast only after I learned from the cheerful counter gal that I could substitute my toast for some massive pancakes to compliment two eggs, hash browns and bacon. The meal itself was fantastic, but the service was awfully slow considering we were four of only eight people in the place. I’d already had enough caffeine to sufficiently wake me up at that point, but the breakfast was still a flavorful masterpiece.

Excellent breakfast selection in an off the beaten path area of Woodland. I live 30 miles away and came into town to meet a relative who was passing thru. She was game to try something new. The inside was as described and very clean. The staff was very polite and helpful & seemed very happy that we enjoyed their food. That afternoon, my mom & her friend went there to check it out. Her friend said it was the best tuna melt sandwich she had ever had… and my tiny mother ate her entire hamburger. We will definitely be back!

Full disclosure, I love elephants. I’ve been wanting to go to The Elephant Shack ever since hearing about its existence a few years ago. Husband wanted to go to the new Harbor Freight in Woodland so I made a deal with him; we have breakfast first at The Elephant Shack and then he can browse tools to his heart’s content. We were greeted upon entering by a young woman we soon learned was the co-owner, Jackie. After showing me her elephant tattoo when I showed her my elephant bracelet, she made recommendations from the breakfast menu. You order at the counter and your food is brought to the table. After we ordered I had to examine each and every elephant I could find. Some really neat ones. I recognized a few that I have in my own collection. My vegetarian omelet was wonderful. Filled with mushrooms, spinach, grilled onions, roasted red peppers and topped with cheese, pico de gallo(with fresh jalapeño pepper) and avocado, there was a perfect proportion of fillings to egg. I hate when omelets have the stuffing all in the middle with big areas of just egg, not so at The Elephant Shack. Each bite contained a delicious mixture of the fillings. My husband had the fried French toast. While not the healthiest choice, he really liked it. He also ordered a side of bacon and really loved that it was nice thick cut bacon perfectly cooked. I picked up what I thought was a business card but Jackie took it from me to turn it over and stamp it. Buy 9 entrees, get the 10th free. What a deal. I plan to return for lunch some day with my former co-workers. They know about me and elephants but they also know that I like quality food at good prices so I’m sure they will agree to meeting here.
