Simple bar, friendly locals, pool table, ATM, karaōke(Wednesday) many different beers. Non-alcohol for designated drivers. Very relaxed. Come as you are. Sing badly. Have a great time!

There are a lot of people that say bad things about the stag but I love it. The stag is a bar plane and simple they have lots of great beers on tap and great prices the owner and all her bartenders are great. It is absolutely the only bar Iv ever been to in woodland were no one has ever tryed to start a problem with me If I’m going to drink I. Woodland I’m going to do it at the stag and I hope you do the same see you all there

Definitely high on the dive bar favorites list! Strong drinks, great local color, bands coming through every weekend from what I understand, and an all around good time. Our group came in around midnight after one of my besties’ wedding, and they embraced us with open arms. Drinks were poured quick and dirty, and all the regulars were very cool with us. I loved seeing the rockabilly fans and band groupies. I think we missed the show but had a great time joining the after party!

Stopped here for a quick drink after visiting a local business. Jenna, the bartender was awesome! She was very welcoming and shared some great stories with us! The beer selection was great but what made our visit so delightful was Jenna’s fantastic attitude. Will definitely find an excuse to come back!

Not a horrible place, but not wonderful either. If you’re looking for a standard dive bar to go have a few drinks, you won’t be disappointed. Generally good service and a good crowd.

Usually great service there on the weekdays but I was disappointed on Friday 5⁄23. I purchased a shot and was given the wrong thing which I didn’t drink and then when I told the bar tender it wasn’t what I ordered she just looked at me said«ok» and walked away. The other bar tender was cleaning glasses and would look directly at myself and a few others near me and would then act like we weren’t even there. She would see us with our wallets out but just walk right past us and help other people. She was able to make sure she grabbed the tips we left for the other bar tender but would not once help us. I have never had service there as bad as I had that night. I’ve been there when it was busier with only one bartender and had better service with just the one. It was disappointing and more irritating then anything.

Great staff, fun environment. Drinks are reasonably priced. I do wish they had a DJ more often though & the smell could be more pleasant.

Great dive bar. Friendly owner. Only ding is that the draft beers were a bit expensive when I went — paid $ 7 for a Budweiser and a hard cider — but I’m sure they have happy hour prices at other times. Someday the owners should probably upgrade the bar to hardwood — currently Formica top. But this is an old-school dive bar on Main Street, and awesome for what it is!(Any place with a sign prominently displayed behind the bar which says«$ 20 charge for credit cards left overnight» is probably not a place for the Gewürztraminer crowd…)

You know. for Woodland, you can’t beat it. when its my Friday(I work nights) and I want a shot and a cold beer at 6AM, the Stag has and is always there for me. It is always clean, and whoever is behind the bar is friendly and accommodating. I like the fact that if I am in the mood there is a stripper pool for me to get up on too.

Been coming here for years. They stopped doing the 1 $ pbr saturdays LONG time ago but still the cheapest drinks in town. I come here about once a week. Tuesdays are nice becuase of karaōke. Also they serve tacos outside from time to time. Crowd is random, hit or miss, great and chill.

Best bar in woodland. Dive bar with a comfortable atmosphere. Low lighting. Cheap, well made drinks. An excellent liquor selection. Pool table. Events every weeknight, with karaōke Tuesday & trivia Wednesday drawing the biggest crowds. Bands play on the weekends; it gets packed. Special events every month. Popular spot for the locals’ birthday parties. The crowd is the typical dive bar crowd: hipsters, regulars, party kids. Ranging in age from just turned 21 to 40 somethings, friendly atmosphere. Mainly easygoing people, fights(an unfortunate regularity in woodland) don’t really happen here, and when they do it’s broken up quickly! You can black out here, or just have a couple crisp draft beers, and know you’ll be safe and enjoy yourself, as opposed to most other places in town. The best part is the staff. The owner and bartenders are super nice, caring, and know how to have conversations. They’ll call cabs for drunk people and won’t tolerate anyone who likes to make trouble. Most importantly know what they’re doing and do it quickly; you won’t be served a bad drink here, even if you don’t know what you want! Never a dress code. rarely a cover. Back opens to an alley that connects to the other good woodland bar. Front opens up to historic woodland. Shaped like an oversized hallway. Up until my mid 20’a I refused to go out in woodland, until I went here. Definitely worth going out to.

This place was truly awesome. Truly. I stopped in Woodland on my way down to visit family in Southern California. I needed a good local bar to pass some time, and Unilocal!helped me out again with this location. A trivia night was going on when I walked into this place… which can only be called a «dive,» in the most fondest of terms. It reminded me a lot of some of the sleazier(i.e. better) bars I frequented in NYC. Anywhoo, a trivia night was going on, so some of the clientele was a little on the older side… but seemed to fit right in. A great mix of hipsters, burnouts, quiet drinkers, and loud party people were scattered through this place. Beers, shots, GREAT conversation with the owner and her temp-fill-in barkeeper kept me here much later than I had any right to be. And a great follow through to my safety, the owner got me a cab to get me back to my hotel. Since I don’t have a receipt from said cab, I’m pretty sure they paid for it to. I regret to say I don’t recall much of the end of that night. Shame on me. But kudos to this joint. I will DEFINITELY be stopping by here the next time I’m heading down to southern Cali. Regardless of whether I need to stay the night or not. I assume I will stay when it’s over, all things considered.

Unfortunately the owner keeps asking me to take down my review. The point of Unilocal is that people can read about customer experiences– good or bad-and use that information to decide if they want to patronize a business; that doesn’t work if people are asked to censor what they post

Never been to Woodland, and our first trip was quite memorable. Kenny greeted us at the door and Heather gave us a warm welcome at the bar. many of the locals were happy to talk to complete strangers and after we got off stage, many compliments were given to us. This a a very friendly bar with a great local atmosphere. Live music and affordable drinks make a Saturday night enjoyable and relaxing.

Came to visit Yolo with some friends and I guess the closest night life is out in Woodland. After missing the big city bar scene, the locals took my friends and I to this spot. Hella Crackin! We roll in and it has that awesome dive bar feeling with random decorations all over the spot and the typical inked and pierced crowd. Loved that they served Fireball Whiskey and were playing Electro music. Whenever I’m around these parts I’ll definitely be back!

This dive bar has been a favorite for Woodlanders– from the just turned 21 set to the seasoned drinkers. The Stag is a great place to get close to the locals. I came in with a girlfriend on Monday night– there were only a few people there. During the weekends there is more of a crowd and various events that keep folks coming back– karaōke and live music. If you’re driving through downtown Woodland on Main Street, stop by this long standing dive bar for a drink.

The quintessential dive bar experience. Cheap beer, great bartenders, pleasant group of regulars, even a reasonably unskeezy bathroom. May grand Woodland institutions like this live on forever.
