I love this place. Great food at a great price. Everything is delicious on their menu from the tacos to the their tortas to the fajitas. However, my favorite dish is the carne asada with rice and beans. The staff are super nice and attentive. Big plus on the ambiance as it’s dimly lit and quiet. Nice for a first date! Highly recommended.

If you’re down for some traditional Mexican food, this place hits the spot. The flavors of chocolate melted over your chicken and tenderized to peel off the bone to be wrapped in a tortilla! Seriously?!! Why would anyone say no? Your lips would cry out for more just to get a taste! A highly recommended place and so much more better than some of the Mexican joints you get in Manhattan, and I’m from Ca so I know good Mexican food when I see it!

The huevos rancheros are amazing! The burritos are delicious and filling! The enchiladas with mole sauce is really awesome! The white sangria was strong but good! I love this restaurant!

Excellent Mexican cuisine with good portion size and a surprising selection of draft beers. There are few seats in this establishment but its worth the visit for the great variety of tacos and meals. Edit: I was informed there is a back room for additional service when busy.

Great service. Delicious food. Always fresh and amazing. Great for dates. Went here for my birthday dinner and loved it. We live in the neighborhood and it was one of those –10 degrees nights. So warm dinner was welcome.

This is a favorite neighborhood spot! Eat here once a week. We’ve been eating here for at least five years. Had special occasions here too(like a bachelorette dinner/party). The food is fresh, varied and delicious! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great options for vegans and vegetarians. The deserts there are worth saving room for. The specials are always so yummy(mushroom quesadillas, steak & salmon dinners. We regularly get burritos, enchiladas, guacamole… And French fries(they are really good!)

I came here for Mexican authentic food s few months ago and I was debating whether to write this review. I came here to taste something. Well I ordered a burrito but I didn’t achieve a satisfying feeling. My mom was with me. I guess the upside is the image of place but I came here to get Mexican food. If you know Mexicans, we like colors. Sure burritos don’t have much color but that’s because the taste is replacing that. It wasn’t too great. Again, I’d go back but I wasn’t impressed.

I love this place and was here from the start! At first it was BOYB for months. But the food is awesome, not a bad item on the menu! And the staff is great and Ramiro the owner is a sweetheart. Whenever there’s a benefit, he donates Gift certificates and offers food to the parties and the restaurant expanded And one more in Astoria! Sangria is popular among my friends And other people I see! I recommend this hot spot to everyone Who loves Mexican !!! Debbie

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this place. I think I’ve been going here for about six years and it never disappoints. Everything is above average and I do mean everything. Service, presentation, food quality, you name it. I’ve never had a bad meal here… however, if I was to nitpick, they are a little chintzy with the chips and their amazing roasted tomato salsa. And, it IS amazing. The tamales, tortas, deMole nachos, and huevos rancheros are among the MANY standouts on their menu. The vegetarian options are fantastic, as well. Actually, please don’t listen to a word I’ve said and never go here, because I don’t like waiting for a table. Great little place!

I noticed tonight up on arrival that the waitstaff had been change a little. The place was crowded for a wednesdy night, walked in at 7pm and were seated right away. We order the following appetizers: Chicken Flautas a plentiful serving of 6 deep fried golden chicken flautas top with cheese, crema and shredded lettuce. Scallop Ceviche is a very small portion, hardly enough to be called a scallop ceviche. They serve the Ceviche on a deep fried tortilla shell(the tortilla shell is shaped into a bowl and its edible) it has a small of onion, guacamole, cilantro, fresh lime juice and diced scallop. The dice of scallop is not visible and hardly felt on the palate. Everyonedicedhe table agreed, we could have done without it as really the scallop was not there at all, good flavors and nice presentation but that was it. Guacamole and chips: a tiny bag of chips for a table of 4ppl, accompanied by freshly made guacamole and a spicy tomato sauce on the side, awesome goodness but the miser bag of chips was more like a serving for 1 person. Main course was diverse, we had chicken quesadilla which was delicious, Mahi mahi tacos, enchiladas de pollo con mole and a pierna torta. The quesadilla is standard 7 inch, freshly made corn tortilla with chicken, lettuce, crema and cheese pressed nicely and served piping hot. The tacos are served on soft warm tortillas with a cabbage slaw, a deep fried piece of fish guacamole and crema. The torta was a very good size torta stuffed with delicious pork, bean paste, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and i questioned the fact that it had no pickled jalapenos but it was delicious. Instead we got a green and a red sauce that you can put on your torta. I recomended the green sauce, creamy cilantro jalapeño sauce that goes with anything you order on the menu. The red sauce is just ok, nothing special. Last but not least the enchiladas de pollo were very tasty, it came with yellow rice and a side of black beans and 2 enchiladas. They pour enough mole sauce over the enchilada not to over soak the food but just the right amount of mole sauce. My favorite dish, as it is well put together. At the end of the dinner the bill was $ 60plus tip. Service is always attentive, certain items such as the cexevic could be done better by the management but in the effort of keeping prices in check some items are not worth ordering. I would atay away from the ceviches and sangria. Beer is a better option if you are a drinker, they do sell wine by the glass and bottle but wines is very eexpwnsiv at this place.

Perfection. The mole chicken enchiladas and the shrimp fajitas were awesome. It’s reasonably priced Mexican food(for NYC…). Our entrees were $ 12 and $ 14. The red sangria was good. Service is fantastic, and this is a hidden gem. Definitely my favorite spot for Mexican in New York… I’ve finally found a place!

Definitely a little diamond tucked away in rad Sunnyside. My friend and I came here once for a sit-down dinner. It was a chilly evening but De Mole was cozy and inviting. The servers were extremely amiable and friendly. We were also treated to complimentary chips and salsa, a true rare specimen in NYC. I got a pork torta that was excellent, big, and only $ 6.75! De Mole really sold me on their coconut flan($ 4) too since I’m not a flangirl. Well, my friend technically ordered this but I made sure to have a bite. My dessert was liquid: a strawberry milkshake($ 3.50). Maybe not the milkshake to rule over all other milkshakes(not super creamy), but not bad. More recently, I got a lunch order to-go, ringing up De Mole and then picking up a short amount of time later. The carne asada torta($ 6.75) was very pleasing though I forgot to request no jalapenos so my mouth suffered a little. The squash blossom quesadilla($ 3.50) was a perfect accompaniment. I really must branch out from tortas next time since so many other menu items look enticing. Give De Mole a shot if you’re in the neighborhood!

De Mole serves some delicious Mexican food. Quiet and intimate setting and the interior décor was simple and so was the food. The food, though, simple, was delicious and well seasoned. Portion sizes were pretty good for the price. My friend and I had a very enjoyable dinner here on Saturday. I had the Tampiqueña, which was the skirt steak and she had the Carne Asada Encebollada, which was the grilled steak, rice n beans w/corn tortillas. For drinks, I tried the Jarritos Mandarin. While waiting for the food, we were given a small bowl of chips and salsa. Nothing special. We both agreed the salsa was rather bland. My steak was cooked medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Steak was moist, flavorful and seasoned very well. Rice wasn’t too mushy and I actually finished all the beans. lol My plate was wiped clean after about 20mins. I tried one of my friend’s steak tortillas and it was very tasty, along with the rice n beans. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We didn’t stay for dessert. as neither of us was in the mood for flan. lol This first experience at De Mole would have been 5 stars, except for one mistake made by the waiter who took our order. Initially, I had ordered a Guacamole appetizer, and I saw the waiter write it down in his little pad. But our entrée platters had already come out and my guacamole was nowhere to be found. Probably forgot about it. But I would have liked some fresh guacamole with my meal. lol Oh well. definitely next time!

I came here with my friend. I got 2 tacos, carne enchilada and carne asada. It was a little plain for my test but hot sauce really helped in flavoring it. They added a lot of onions in it. My friend got the carne asada rice platter. The beef was a little burnt but he was fine with it. We also got a pitcher of sangria. For dessert, we got the coconut flan. That was one of my favorite one. It wasn’t too sweet.

This review is long overdue. I’ve been to De Mole a number of times and have always been satisfied with the flavor, quality, and portion size of the food. I’m part Honduran and while Mexican food is not my food, it is a close relative — De Mole always delivers an authentic taste that’s modernized for the contemporary culinary landscape. My wife and I also had a large party in one of the rooms for our engagement dinner over a year ago. The owner and chef, Ramiro, was an excellent, flexible, and friendly host. He modified some recipes to our guests dietary restrictions and made sure our event was a success. I can’t recommend De Mole enough. I’m ashamed it took this long to write this review. Let’s keep supporting local restaurants.

Last night my friend and I came to De Mole for Sunnyside Restaurant Week. Ordering from their prix fixe menu, we selected the ceviche, steak fajitas, and pastel de tres leches, as well as glasses of the Malbec. The ceviche was a flavor burst. Filled with freshly diced tomatoes, onions, and cilantro, and accompanied by slices of lime, it was the perfect way to begin the meal. The steak fajitas were delicious, and accompanied by generous sides of rice and beans and salsa, guacamole, and one of the best sour creams I have ever tasted! Also, they were more than enough for two meals. Finally, the pastel de tres leches was among the best I’ve had. And of course the glasses of Malbec paired perfectly with everything.

I stopped here for dinner one night and found the prices to be pretty fair for a sit down restaurant with this type of look and feel to it. My girlfriend was in search for margaritas(which they did not have) so this place was a contender in our quest. The mole sauce is definitely a must-try. I mean the restaurant put it in their name… so I figured I should at least try SOMETHING with mole sauce on it. I had the chicken enchiladas, which in itself was a little plain tasting but the mole sauce made up for that with tons of flavor. I grabbed a shredded brisket quesadilla as well which for under $ 4 had lots of flavor and was pretty filling. I’d definitely recommend trying some of these quesadillas as a lot of other places don’t sell these varieties regularly. If you want a nice«date» vibe for dinner and don’t want to break the bank, this place is worth a shot.

This is a lovely little hidden Mexican restaurant where they take great care in serving more traditional Mexican foods. My favorite items are the chiles en nogada(seasonal) and the flor de calabaza and huitlacoche quesdadilla. I have yet to try any other entrees because I love these items so much. The desserts are also excellent with a mug of mexican hot chocolate.

At first I thought I was reviewing that lame reality show that was hosted by Anderson Cooper before he became a cable news celebrity, and I was thinking«ugh, one star!» but then I realized that was«The Mole», not«De Mole». I’m totally giving De Mole four stars, mainly because it has nothing to do with Anderson Cooper! Came here with friends and had a nice time. The food was great… from the chicken taquitos to the skirt steak, everything was vibrant and full of flavor, not to mention well prepared. Sometimes you’ll get a dry steak or some overdone rice, but that was not a problem here. My friend’s chicken also looked good and she said it was delicious but she was clearly too selfish to offer me half of it. They have a limited drinks menu(wine and beer) so if you’re looking for a margarita, you’re out of luck. Service was friendly and very leisurely, but that was okay because I was enjoying catching up with my friends. This may be off the beaten path but that’s a plus because you definitely won’t run into Anderson Cooper here.

This was my second time here. My first visit was a few years ago and I remember thinking the food was alright. Last night I came here with my boyfriend and my opinion hasn’t changed much. When we arrived, there was no one at the door to greet us so we sat ourselves. The place is very small. There was only one bartender and one waitress working. The service was slow and we had to ask the waitress for the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was only half full; when I asked if we can get a refill because we still had chips left over, she said that it would be an additional charge. I’ve never heard of this before lol. Plus, I’ve been to their other location in Astoria and they were not stingy with their salsa. We started with a chicken verde tamale, which was dry. I ordered the steak fajaita, which came with rice, beans, Pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and tortillas. I felt the food was bland for my taste. I had to add salt and a lot of their house green sauce. The dish did not come with a sufficient amount of steak, and the steak was sliced too thin. The guacamole was fresh, but not as citrusy as I would have liked. Pico de gallo needed lime juice or vinegar. The rice and beans were bland. My boyfriend got the chicken mole. It was soaked in mole sauce, which I didn’t mind. It was one of the better tasting mole sauce I’ve tasted. The chicken was tender and moist. The prices were reasonable. I am undecided on whether I would come back to this Mexican restaurant.
