Just moved to the area little while ago and decided to try this place before hopping on the train. Looks a little dingy and the employees weren’t the friendliest. Ordered a BLT($ 5) and it was pretty good. Wasn’t soggy and the cook balanced the right amount of ingredients well. However, while I was waiting for my food I took a peek around and it did not seem the cleanest. Not sure if I trust the quality check and temperature of their food. Overall, convenient and quick for your trip on the train. The layout is an old school diner, however the food’s your typical fast food NY deli. **Update. Maxing it out to 3 stars. Decided to give it another try and the employees seemed friendlier. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Ordered the Two eggs with bacon, sausage, and homefries and tasted pretty good. After this experience, would go back again for the convenience of it being right next to the train station.

This is a true definition of what a mom and pop joint is. Bar stool seats, dated décor, simple menu and im pretty sure the lady who takes your order probably owns the place. I would even call this place a hole in the wall. Its location is a little odd, im sure many people have walked and driven right by it. This morning we ordered the bacon and egg on the roll and let me tell you probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Most of the time you need ketchup to liven up the sandwich but not this sandwich. It does perfectly fine without no condiments. I think what makes this sandwich great is the roll. They must add a tiny bit of butter and throw it on the grill for about 30 seconds cause it almost melts in your mouth when eating. The bacon is nice and crisp. And the egg is fried to perfection. I cant talk about anything else on this menu but that sandwich is lifeeeeeeee!

The only reason why I stopped coming here is because the older ladies that work there always give me a different price for my breakfast usual. One day my sandwich can be $ 3 and all the sudden be $ 6, and that’s without an iced coffee. Overall the breakfast isn’t the same. The home fries are always dry and lack in taste. Back to the older ladies that work there; they are the most nastiest people with the worst attitude. The last time I’ve ate here was a week ago and I saw a roach! Blehhhh! I passed by today and they were closed down for hygiene.

Ordered an omelette, I asked for«an omelette not well done, not overcooked, started I don’t like it all brown, closer to scrambled egg color». What I received was an omelette dark brown with even darker brown spots!!! Nor happy has that overcooked egg taste! Coffee was the only good thing. Also ordered wheat toast and received white.

Absolute worse service, I asked for a coffee and a bagel, the person taking my order told me the coffee was over on the other side and didn’t take my order, and I asked what bagels they had and she said they had sesame and cinnamon /raisin, I asked for sesame and she told the guy to gave me a regular bagel, and the man did not use gloves when handling my bagel even though he was handling the cooking utensils and cooking on the grill, on top of it the coffee was extremely bad, I wouldn’t ever come here again, there’s McDonald’s literately right next to it, I never go to McDonald’s but I would much rather than this place since it’s cheaper and better.

Orange Hut has been a neighborhood favorite for many commuters and workers along the busy Northern Blvd Broadway strip. It has that old stop inn diner feel and the breakfast is always freshly made to order. So if your in the neighborhood be sure to stop in for some delicious crunchy home fries, crispy bacon and eggs made to perfection. Enjoy!

Old school greasy spoon joint. So good. This is where I stop for breakfast on my way to work. Cup of coffee and a sausage link breakfast sandwich on an amazing poppy seed roll is less than 5 bucks. You can’t beat it.

I would suggest you get your meal to go, the place is tiny. You may bump elbows with the guy sitting next to you. The food is good not great. Nice opportunity to grab fresh coffee right before getting on the train.

If you have really low standards, this is the place to you. I personally don’t like my food to handed to me by an aging woman with more gold than Mr. T. Between the sticky floor and the owner constantly babbling on the phone in Greek in the corner, I won’t be back. For a $ 1 more I can get an egg sandwich from Starbucks.

I go for breakfast often at Orange Hut. I used to live in Woodside and now don’t and still travel for their food. They make your food exactly how you ask for it… ie: very well done bacon and home fries. Eggs are always cooked perfectly. You can’t beat their prices either. The cook and the lady behind the counter and very friendly, fast and efficient. (Also they have A/C in the summer so don’t be afraid to go on in!)

Cheap, «greasy spoon» type place that’ll serve you up a quick breakfast. Is it great? No, but it’s totally edible and, as the review below me said, it’s cheap. It seems like if you specify something made even the slightest bit different than what they’re used to though, it never gets done right. Either way, it works, but don’t expect anything fancy.

Stools are way too close together, felt like I was going to elbow the guy sitting next to me in the stomach every time I went to pick up my coffee. Breakfast is about $ 3.eggs, bacon, home fries, toast, coffee and little OJ. A cheeseburger is about $ 2 as well. Not the cleanest place in the world but I never had an issue with the food. The woman behing the counter is nice and will keep the coffee coming.

If you are looking for the«old school style» dinner, look no further. In a city where everything is modern, cutting edge and stylish, the Orange Hut is stuck somewhere in the 1960s Happy Days era. This goes for the décor, menu & service. There is nothing glamorous about the place, the food on the other hand, is good and best of all CHEAP. I had egg white omellette with turkey on whole wheat with a large iced coffee for about $ 5. Imagine if I went to star bucks and got the same thing? Anyhow, if your in the area and want to grab something quick and cheap, give it a shot.

gritty doesn’t begin to describe the orange hut. i live down the street from this little breakfast and lunch counter joint so i tend to eat here more often than i should. don’t get me wrong. the food is standard diner far but they could make a little more effort. nasty assed coffee is served in paper cups, the stools are too close to the counter for my legs to fit comfortably and everything seems to be sticky. the woman behind the counter is nice enough. the old guy is constantly bickering with his cooks about something and the cooks are just ornery. thank g*d you can see what they are doing cause, well, anything can get into your food at any time. which brings me to the next little tidbit about the orange hut. if its extra protein you crave, this is the joint to come to. on well more than one occasion i have had the pleasure to watch little brown critters with a whole lotta legs scamper across the various surfaces of the esteemed establishment. granted, i never found any in my food or even crawling across the griddle but it is just a matter of time. so if you are out in queens and lost and desperate and hungry and you only have three dollars in your pocket, come to the orange hut for the usual diner fare and the entertainment of a bug zoo. mmmmmm, yummy.
