The waitress Katie was great, she did well with checking in on us, getting drinks as we needed them and making sure our food was out in a timely manor. The place was clean and inviting. I did however freeze as I had my dinner, it was extremely cold in the restaurant. I’m giving this 2 stars because I got food poisoning, I know it was from this particular place because it was all I had that day. This is the second time this has happened at this place. I ordered a club sandwich which wasn’t the greatest anyways. I may visit again, that’s a strong maybe… I think management needs a visit from Restaurant: Impossible.

I debated on a 2 star rating and I chose this for one main reason. The SLOW service. Our server was as good as she could be. She was running like crazy trying to take care of all the customers. ADD more staff management. My wife ordered the Taco Salad and she said it was good. I ordered the 12 piece Chicken Wings(sweep/spicy) and asked for them crispy. They were cooked ok but were not crispy and these along took forever to get to the table and were not hot when we got them. I ordered the Big BBQ Sandwich with Tavern Chips. The chips were fine but the BBQ sandwich tasted like one you’d get at a fair or carnival. Sweet, extra wet and canned. Not something I’d order again. We showed up on a Saturday night thinking we were doing the senior citizen meal plan.(Early) It already had a fair number of people in the place and it took forever to get our food. 90 minutes to order and eat is not acceptable. We like this place but will unlikely be back on a weekend night.

Went on Fathers Day. Big mistake! Service was nothing to brag about. One girl bar tending, waiting on the whole bar, and taking care of all carry out orders. We had to ask for refills on multiple occasions. We had to ask about our appetizer and a good 40 or so minutes after she finally took our food order we had to ask for our salads. Which I am sure she forgot about. Then, our food came before I could even pour my dressing on my salad. Now the food– 5 out of six entrees were very good. Especially the ribeye. I would pass on the shrimp scampi! The kicker to make this a bad experience was that when my son went to slide of the bench he was sitting, he was stabbed by four one inch splinters that also got embedded in his shorts. After the splinter incident I asked to speak to the manager — which I was told was in the office. Why would the manager be in the office when it is so busy? Would I go again? Maybe, but never on a holiday or weekend when they could be busy.

We went two consecutive days here when we stayed in the area. Day was 1 excellent service and day 2 was slow and ignorant. Day 1 we celebrated a friend’s bday there and the were nice to bring our dessert wit candles singing the song. A nice touch. In a group of 6 we ordered multiple appetisers like quesadillas, wings and Mozzarella Sticks suggested by our waitress which were a must have here. I ordered a french onion soup which was regular but my husband’s Pork ribs were good with the side of tavern chips. Overall day 1 was great with friendly service and a small town feel. Day 2 they were out of most of the alcohol we wanted and even the food we ordered was ok to just fine. Crab dip was average and chicken nuggets I am not ordering again. Blame it on long weekend and tired staff!

Good American food with lots of choices. We enjoyed a late Saturday dinner: salads, sandwiches, ribs. Best part was the cold draft beer in the frosty mugs. Friendly service with neighborhood feel, though a bit slow.

Management: Folks, I highly encourage patronizing local businesses. However, I have to say that the Spring House is probably one of the worst restaurants in Woodstock — at this time. I have been a customer for many years. When the Harshmans managed it, it was wonderful. When a new manager took over, it gradually declined over the last 8 or 9 years. Hopefully, since that manager has left, someone can breathe new life back into this place. Cleanliness: The last several times I’ve been there, the place smells like rotten food, poop, and mildew. Spider webs adorn the shelves, walls, lights, and corners. And there is a feel of greasy, sticky dirtiness. Food: At my last visit just this past week, on the same day at different times, me and a friend got the same entrée. We both woke up at 3:00 in the morning with explosive food poisoning. My husband had something different, and he was fine. Service: This varies on the day, time, and section. Sitting in the bar, the service is great. In the dining room, not so much. The Spring House has been a long standing landmark of Woodstock. I would really like for them to clean up their act, literally, and improve all around. Maybe a few years down the road I’ll go back and my review will be better.

What a great old tavern atmosphere that is family friendly. The Spring House steak is one of the best steak that I have had and I barely had room to finish. The best thing is your not paying what you would pay at the big steak houses. Service was great the waitress didn’t even write the order down and everything was perfect.

I give it a five stars because for a small town and what is available around… It deserve a 5 stars. We had the crab dip which is superb and followed with back back rib. The waitress is awesome and the place has a very nice charm.

This is a great local place. Much more reasonably priced than others in the area; the atmosphere is nice(in the bar or the back dining room); and the food is consistent. Wish they’d have more specials/happy hour pricing and varieties of beer, but overall a great local dive with decent food.

Deciding how many stars to rate this was hard. There aren’t a lot of competitors; and this is better than most places that I am used to finding in such a rural area; and I would consider going back again despite the rating. The restaurant has character and is clean. The food is good. I didn’t *love* my sauteed chicken but it was tasty, and the baked potato was the bomb. Garden salad was OK, and the crab dip was edible. Im not sure how everyone else liked their meals(catfish & hamburgers) because my daughter was clearly not feeling well and honestly I was too focused on her to ask them. The food went without comment, so I am thinking it was«fine». All that would have gotten 3 stars… and the service could have moved it up or down. Well… you see I settled on 2 stars… Here’s what happened. TOOKFOREVER I know, I know, I shouldn’t expect fast service at any rural restaurant. But my daughter — who was fine when we arrived — was sick as a dog by the time we left. If they could have gotten us our food in a reasonable amount of time(she didn’t eat) she might not have puked all over my car as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot. Poor thing, sitting on the side of the road covered in vomit… the police pulling up with flashing lights(embarrassed the heck out of her). Well, you get the picture.(She’s 11, btw, and it is a flu — she wasnt drinking… in case that is what you thought.) HERE’S WHATBOTHEREDME: The server spent 20 minutes talking to a large table… telling stories, oohing over the baby… and never looking up. It was so bad that another table that had been seated got sick of waiting and left and the server never noticed they had been there. It was disgraceful, as they were in plain view, if she’d just remembered she was working for a second those customers might have been saved. And you know I was really bothered when the large table she’d been talking to… people who arrived WELL after us… got their food in a flash. We ordered nothing that took a long time. Mine was probably frozen and put in the oven to heat up. The hamburgers are fried, and so are the catfish and fries. Not that hard. And when the server said, «The cook said everyone was ordering fried food and it’s just taking too long.» I had to bite my tongue. Flash frying takes seconds, maybe a minute or two. It did not account for an hour wait from the time we placed the order. Grrr… On a lighter note… the server isn’t the only one we dealt with, there was someone else that seated us. We told her we had a party of 5 and she said, «You can sit up front but we’d have to pull a table to the end, is that OK?» I looked, and responded, «It seems like that would be crowded.» …and she just stared at me… so I had to add, «And not like it would be a good idea. There are larger tables in the back, right?» She kind of looked annoyed, without explaining why that would be an issue, and seated us in the back. Maybe she knew something I didn’t.

Don’t eat here unless you want food poisoning! They reuse rolls and food is questionable! Most local people refuse to eat here but thanks to tourists they stay I’m business. Terrible food and service. The bar is the only decent part of the place.

Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Our server, Kate, was very friendly and helpful. The fried mozzarella(«homemade») was fantastic. Excellent flavor and texture. Chilli is always a gamble, but we definitely liked it here. Good heat and they’re not shy with the toppings. My girlfriend said the burger was one of the best she’s had, and I thought the pulled pork was definitely worth the money. Finally, the music(‘80s) kept us from leaving for like 20 extra minutes. Totally rad.

Didn’t spend much time here, basically just went in for a beer while I waited for a friend that lives in town. I can say that the service was great and staff was very friendly. They definitely knew I was an out of towner and having a fun and un-forced conversation with the bartender/server was easy. I love the historical aspect of the place too, originally a Spring House(hence the name) it was the only place in the area to get clean fresh spring water according to my friend Mel. This whole area is great, I love Woodstock and can’t wait to visit again.

We were in town staying at the Holiday Inn and they offered a 10% discount for the tavern so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was cool but the list of beers was basic. Fried green tomatoes were a good appetizer to start. The angry bird wrap and fries were good for bar food. The ribeye was fine – cooked well but not flavorful. The kids ordered the pepperoni pizza and it was so hard it was inedible. We complained to the waitress and she said«I know. We really need to fix that kids menu.» She offered no compensation and very little apology. In short, average to decent bar food but don’t go with kids.

Good food. I had the cheese burger with bacon. I ask for it to be cooked medium. It was done perfect. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday while out for a ride on the motorcycle.

This place was pretty good. Cool atmosphere and decorations. What stood out to me was the customer service. My server was really friendly and prompt, could not have been better. I got a house salad and southwest burger with fries. Salad was just a salad. Not bad but not worth five bucks. The burger was really good. Cooked just as I ordered it and the fries were excellent. They came it hot, they hadn’t been sitting around. I would go back for sure. No complaints at all. Really worth the short drive off the interstate to get here.

Not bad for a place in this kind of area that’s mostly fast food. I had French onion soup and BBQ chicken with fries and a salad. The fries were ok but the rest of the food I had was pretty good. My boyfriend had the salmon and he wasn’t a huge fan. The Sam Adams beer was good and the service was prompt. I’d come back if I was in the area. We came on a Saturday night. Business was steady but not overcrowded and there was no wait. We were staying nearby in the new Hampton Inn. The worst thing was the bathroom. I won’t describe why though. Wish they’d check on it a bit more regularly.
