I can’t believe this is my first time here and I’ve been stationed at McGuire for a long time. The chicken kabob was awesome. The chick peas were awesome. The rice was awesome. The salad was fresh and better than expected. I had a little taste of the baklava and it was very good too. The portion size is huge and is easily two meals and could be three if you’re able to control yourself. It will only be two for me… The service was friendly. I will be leaving the area in less than two months but I’ll be back at least a couple times.

Amazingly seasoned and deliciously healthy food. Bravo to the cooks of this restaurant. I have tried other restaurants in Cherry Hill area(with similar menus) and don’t come even close to the flavor, quality and price this restaurant provides. The cilantro sauce is good on everything. I hope they expand and open other locations.

If your in the area, this place is a MUST. The food is out of this world delicious, The lamb & chicken kabobs, the gyros, & their chick peas… to die for. And the owners are some of the nicest people around. This place doesn’t disappoint.

YES. Just yes… GREAT Food, GREAT People! They’re a little on the slow-side, even if you call for pickup, but it is WELL worth the wait.

By far one of the best costumer service I have received in my life. It was also my first time eating afghan food it was delicious and the portion are ridiculously large but the quality it was on point. The owner treated us with some treats and ways to eat and enjoy the meal. Get anything you will not be disappointed.

Delicious! Very nice staff. I’d eat there every day if I could. Even their take on chicken fingers left me craving more — I ordered them for my daughter but ended up eating half myself!

WOW! This place is great! I was in the area for work and happened upon this place. I never had Afghan food but was eager to try it. AMAZING! I had the combo platter(I ordered the Beef kabob… lol) which contained the Lamb, Chicken and Beef. They also threw in a side of the chick peas, AMAZING!!! The staff is very pleasant and friendly and eager to introduce the un-initiated to their food and a small bit of their culture. I cant wait to go back!!!

This is my favorite afghani restaurant period. My husband introduced me to it when we were dating years back. They always make it fresh and piping hot, it really feels like homemade. The gentleman that owns the place always treats us very well and often throws in a free soda or chickpeas. I’ve since ordered from here when my mom came to visit and she loved it too! She is an excellent cook and a tough critic. The prices may seem high but to be honest, one platter is enough for three of us and comes with your meat(we always choose chicken) rice, and salad. The salad is always really yummy and seasoned just as well as the rest of the dish. They never use iceberg! The chicken is soooooo good. I’m pretty sure that seasoning is dill but not entirely sure. To be honest, this place makes THEBEST chicken, no exaggerations. I personally haven’t tried anything else but my husband likes the gyro. One more thing– the white sauce on a little bit of everything is the best! I really hope this place stays in the area for a long long time. There aren’t enough like it.

2nd visit to this hidden gem. Ordered ahead of time as everything is made fresh to order. The owner of this establishment completely understands the meaning of customer service and customer satisfaction. Ordered the lamb kebab and beef kofta kebab(this dish is spicy so keep the fire extinguishers nearby) Food was absolutely delicious and flavourful. Rice was cooked perfectly. Salad was crisp and fresh. Baklava to top it off. Thanks to the owner for this great restaurant.

Wow this place is a diamond in the rough. The meals are made fresh with pride and love for each order placed. I have never experienced such quality Afghan food in my life, no joke. Once you have your first bite you will know what I mean. The gentlemen behind the counter are the greatest, they truly care about your experience dining in their establishment, plus the tall guy has the most stunning beard this side of the Mississippi.

This place. I am in LOVE. This is the best Afghan food I have ever had — and I literally have Afghan food 2 – 3 times a week in Philly. Hands down, this place is #1. I came here with my family as a party of 6 and I tell you, we ordered everything. So I can tell you with complete authority that everything here is delicious. The meats melt in your mouth, they are so flavorful and juicy it should be illegal! The rice is perfectly seasoned and compliments the meats perfectly and the bread, oh the bread — sublime! The guys behind the counter take great pride in their food, and they should, it’s outstanding. They even treated us to some of their homemade baklava… it brought tears to my eyes it was so good. You can tell they put a lot of love into everything they do. Plus they are all super handsome so, win-win! This place is absolutely worth the trip, I promise you!

This is by far the best gyro I’ve ever had, and I’ve had tons of them from many different countries. I couldn’t even pick it up because it was packed so full of deliciousness! Extremely friendly customer service, amazing food. Bring cash! I’ll definitely be back numerous times!!!

We were doing training at Ft Fix and one of the instructors suggested this spot. I have a thing for Middle Eastern flavors or cooking methods so I was instantly down with going. This place surpassed my expectations. I got the Chicken Kabob with rice and salad and a side order of Chick Peas. The chicken was so flavorful and moist. The rise was a long hrain rice pilaf and the chick peas were some of the best I ever had. The place is clean and everyone is friendly and portions are HUGE. Very good value!

Very courteous people and the food tasted really good and full of flavor. Spent 45 and we’ll worth it. The portions were huge so had some left overs. Really great with kids too. Only downside is it needs some renovating and upgrades to the place.

Not a fast food place. They do take their time to make your order(fresh). I ordered a chicken and lamb meal. Definitely recommend this place.

Extremely difficult experience trying to place a take out order. Not a language issue but the order taker quickly got a bad attitude because he felt I was taking too long to order. Very odd. Never got to actually try any food — I decided to terminate the transaction. Disorganized places like this which don’t have patience for customers set off alarms in my mind. If they can’t manage simple stuff like taking and tracking telephone orders how do they handle the day to day activities like produce management and hygiene. Hmm, probably best to give this place a miss and go to the Afghan on route 33. The owner probably relies on the captive clientele from the base who have few other options(the Wendy’s across the street is the alternative) but this is not for me — I have choices and I chose not to frequent restaurants with bad service or bad attitude.

Two of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant rules are to be skeptical of restaurants in strip malls and ones with pictures of the food. This place is both in a strip mall and has pictures of the food, but was a pleasant surprise. The servicemen and women stationed at Ft. Dix/McGuire Air Force Base, some of whom have served in Afghanistan, overwhelmingly endorsed this place so I gave it a try, convinced some others to join me, and all eight people in my party left satisfied. I was the only one who went with the lamb kebob. Mostly everyone else got chicken. But I was nice and shared, and Afghan Kabob was also nice and shared by throwing me a few pieces of chicken as a bonus. Then the staff brought us 4 very generous servings of lentils to pour over our already delicious rice(I think it was the fennel in the rice that won me over). The lamb, despite appearing a little dry, was nice and moist and perfectly seasoned. Toward the end of our lunch, they brought over a bunch of complimentary bottled water. What a nice gesture. Remember the expression about the US «winning the hearts and minds» of the Afghan people? Well, the two Afghans running this place won mine. There is a sign next to the register warning that the food is not fast food and each order is made fresh. They mean it. The only reason I’m going with four stars is because they need to clean the place up a little bit. I also wish they took credit card, but I was later told by my co-worker that their machine was just down whereas the guy behind the counter made it seem like they don’t take plastic under normal circumstances. Before you leave, don’t forget to bus your own table.

If you’ve followed along with my reviews over the years(I’m kidding, I know no one has) you’ll notice a significant lack of Middle Eastern/South Asian food. It just isn’t my forte and it’s never going to be my first choice when someone says ‘Hey, what do you want for lunch?’ With that out of the way let me say this… the next time I’m down at Fort Dix for any possible reason, I’m going back to Afghan Kabob for lunch!!! I’m pretty sure Adam D(who was with me at lunch) is going to agree with the five stars I’m giving too(and we all know he’s much more stingy with his stars). This place was recommended by some people we were meeting with so we decided to give it a try… As we were walking in I noticed a couple guys walking out looking disappointed… never a good sign. We stuck our heads in and there were plenty of open seats(it’s not a huge place, but big enough) and we were able to step right up to order. The deal is that you order at the counter, sit down, they bring you your food, and you pay when you’re done. Anyway, being a kind of food I always play safe I ordered the chicken kabob combo(comes with rice and salad). There were eight of us so it took a little while for our food to come out but it was SOOOOO worth the wait. The chicken was done perfectly with a very slight char but super tender on the inside and it was seasoned with… I have no idea, but it was fabulous! Very different seasoning from what I’ve had in Turkish and Persian restaurants, but excellent nonetheless. I added a little of the ‘hot’ sauce on the table, but it didn’t need it. The guys also brought us plates of bread and bowls of chick peas in a sauce that was so good I could have just eaten them with a spoon rather than mixing them into my rice. Oh yeah, the rice… ummmm, never had anything like it, but I’d eat it all the time if I could. I tasted a hint of fennel(I think), but I don’t know what else made it so good… I should have asked. Adam D ordered lamb, which I usually don’t like, but he let me try a bit of it and it was so good I may get it myself next time. This was the first time I had eaten Afghan food and while I started this review with«it’s not my forte,» I’m pretty damn confident that this just got moved WAY up on my «where do you want to eat lunch» scale! There was enough food here for two people to eat and have a good lunch so I walked away stuffed absolutely stuffed. The two great guys who were running the place when we were there(owners or workers) were incredibly friendly and generous. One last thing… the parking lot here isn’t huge for a strip with at least three restaurants so parking could be an issue… maybe we were just lucky. Afghan Kabob — you convinced me… I WILL go back to eat here again!

On the last day of our Jersey trip my brother brought us to this Kabob place and let me tell you –I was pissed! Pissed off because he didn’t bring us here the first day we got here. I could’ve eaten this a-freaking-mazing Kabob everyday until it’s time to fly back to Vegas. So sad. Anyway. The food here is really good, the lamb kabob especially and I don’t even like lamb. They made it so juicy, tender and flavorful that I had a change of heart. Also they make everything as you order so you can always be sure that you’re food is freshly made. Not those microwavable crap that other restaurants like to serve. Service is great too — the owner and staff are very friendly and attentive. I would come back here in Jersey just to eat here again. Seriously though, come and give this place a try. It will not disappoint.
