Been going here for mostly lunches for many months now. Our new favorite as far as quality goes theirs is the best. The raw fish is far superior than any sushi place we know of, beats our old fave Sakura Bana by a long shot. The only complaint i have is their salad could use better greens and have a little more than just chopped romaine and cucumber. Nice ginger dressing, served on the side. Service is course by course, and excellent. White tablecloths, lovely waitresses, interesting menu, lots of different dishes to try but i like the 3 roll lunch as well as the huge double bento box for dinner for 25 bucks. Love their tuna avocado handrolls and the sushi presentation is just beautiful.

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. And I’ve been to a ton of sushi joints. Sakura is the best.

Bad fish. Used to be good, the first two years they could boast high quality sushi. After that there has been a precipitous drop in quality. Hook ‘em early and bleed them later is what happens all too often in sushi joints. Sakura features sinewy fish, fishy smell and taste, even with cooked items like eel. If fish smells like fish, run away is what I’ve been taught. How many times have you had to floss after sushi? Me: never, unless it’s Sakura. I’ve given this place 1, 2, 3, 4… so many chances I’m embarrassed at my poor judgement. Tonight was the worst and my never-again moment. Smelly cooked fish(eel), sinew laced crunchy(?) texture of tuna sashimi and slimy texture sinewy salmon sashimi. Two specials were soggy, oily tempura rolls that drowned out any of the cooked or uncooked rice & fish taste. Brown, veiny, overripe avocado in my hand roll. I was very hungry and actually gagged twice while trying to eat this food. These are nice people, and I have to take issue with any reviewer who has had bad service due to perceived rudeness. They are busy and sometimes curt. Rude can be a subjective construct that is individual to the reviewer and too many Asian restaurants get downgraded for what is essentially a cultural difference. The quality of the food is what matters and in my opinion the quality is poor because they get away with it because their diners let them. They are in an affluent area and people pay for quick service and convenience and sometimes taste is less important to those on the run. Maybe, but when raw fish is involved, I’d like to get what I’ve paid for and feel good about the product I’ve purchased. Feeling queasy and regretting what I’ve put in my body and what I paid for it is unforgivable and I am done. Sorry Sakura. No more.

Decided to finally try this place on Mother’s Day… loved it so much when back 3 days later for my birthday. Sushi was very good. great service… but the wow factor for me was the Chilean Sea Bass appetizer… unbelievably good. melts in your mouth like candy. Highly recommend!!!

One of our favorite go-to sushi restaurants. Ambience is cozy and modern, while the staff is wonderful. There is a GREAT variety of specialty rolls that come full of flavor and freshness. The Gyoza and seaweed salad are a great starter before you dive into delicious sushi. I recommend ordering at least 1 of the daily specialty rolls.

I wanted to try a new sushi place, so I chose this place as a convenient pick-up spot on my drive home from work. My husband likes the fancy rolls with sauces and fried stuff, which is sometimes hard to find, but Sakura has a good selection. I ordered the Dynamite for him and the restaurant was happy to accommodate his«no avocado» request. My usual order is the sushi deluxe, which comes with a spicy tuna roll. The sushi place closest to my house charges extra to «upgrade» to spicy tuna from regular tuna, so this is a plus for me. My meal came with miso soup and a salad, both quite good. I got a clear soup for the hubs, of which he approved. Service was great – I was greeted immediately as I walked in the door. My order was ready and sitting at the host(ess) stand, and both people at the stand were polite and said thank you as I left. Will go again!

My family recently found this place and what a gem. Everything is soooooo good here. And portions are great sized! It’s great not having to go all the way to ridgewood for good Japanese! My favorite are the bento boxes. I never can finish them.

Service was good. Went at a decent time where no one was there… they sakura dinner box was amazing the tempura were amazing everything was pretty good even there tempura icecream. Green tea and vanilla. It’s a BYOB place. Only one restroom. And if a bit small could see it getting packed pretty quickly.

I just started working in the area, coming from working in NYC, and was looking for a really good sushi place to replace my beloved joints from the city– Sakura did not(and does not) disappoint. The sushi is fresh and tastes great! I normally get the 2 roll lunch combo that contains the spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado roll(maybe a cali, too, if I’m starving) with a salad and clear soup(not a fan of miso in general). It comes close to 12 bucks for lunch which is okay in my book for a nice sized soup, salad, and 2 rolls. If I get the 3rd, it’s closer to 13. One time when I ate in, I had the jasmine tea and it was absolutely fantastic! Everyone I’ve interacted with have been very nice, helpful, and pleasant to talk to while waiting for my carry out.

Just had dinner at Sakura. This was the first time that we had been there in a while. I would agree with most of the other reviews that the fish is very fresh and tastes terrific. However I do have some minor issues that led me to deduct a star from my rating. First issue is that we ordered the«sushi for 2». The menu indicated that it comes with a dragon roll. Since no one at the table is a fan of eel, we asked if we could substitute a volcano roll, which is the same price. However, we were informed that there was a $ 1.00 «substitution charge». Give me a break. Secondly, another person at our table ordered tofu teriyaki. It was essentially a cube of tofu cut up into triangles and lightly fried, sitting on a bed of onions and thinly sliced zucchini. The dish would’ve been nicer had the tofu been cut smaller and had more fresh vegetables. The teriyaki sauce was on the side which was a bit surprising. Overall it tasted good but was not what we had expected. Overall, the quality of the food is very good, but I wish the service had been a little better.

I probably eat here way too much & often, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. The food is on the pricier side, but it’s well worth the money. I’m personally a fan of their spicy special rolls(like the Volcano & Queen rolls), but I haven’t been disappointed with anything I’ve tried yet. Plus, Vicky is one of the kindest, most accommodating hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. That alone seals the deal for me! A couple of tips: — Friday & Saturday evenings can get pretty crazy(and it’s a small restaurant), so plan accordingly. — If you’re on a smaller budget, the lunch specials are worth looking into(good deals). All right, that’s it! Good eats.

My go-to sushi place because of the sweet and accommodating owners & extremely fresh fish. THETUNAPIZZAISGOD! Tuna, onions, scallions, avocado & mayo on top of a toasted flatbread. Their lunch specials are also great! Bento boxes, highly recommend the steak & tempura!

Very fresh and delicious sushi(angel roll) and avocado salad! I recommend this place!!! It’s my next favorite local sushi place next to HHK sushi café and I will be back to repeat my exact order! I’m not sure why I didn’t try this place sooner or a local didn’t force me to check it out because the food was great and healthy!!! I’m adding this to the list of local restaurants I love: Café panache, Chefs table and Locale… this is one of the few local restaurants I would gladly return to with the expectation of great food in this area. Great for any small gathering, girls/guys night out, family dinners and small groups would work. The décor is clean and modern. The cons: The parking situation is a bit challenging and the service felt rushed when we arrived. I think because it was an early Friday night around 645pm when we arrived and they were trying to push us out to turn over the table but we weren’t planning on rushing as it was a dinner for a few girls getting out and away from the kids for good food and conversation. They also kept trying to clear out plates while we were still eating which was annoying. The place is small and we got the last table so others had to wait for a while since they don’t take reservations. However, once we tried to get the check at 830pm we asked for it and I think the server forgot because it took 20 minutes and several reminders… to get the check and another 10⁄15 minutes for them to process the charges. Overall, I can deal with service errors if the product is quality and that is the case here with the fish. It’s also artistically presented… see pics attached

The best sushi I have had anywhere in the tri-state area. The Dancing Roll is my absolute favorite. While it is a bit pricey, the size of the roll is generous, delicious and it fills me up so I am happy to pay for it. I am also a big fan of the shrimp shumai. If you are looking for high quality delicious sushi, go here. You wont be disappointed!

Absolutely wonderful. Their spicy salmon was the best I’ve ever had — and I’ve eaten a ton of sushi! Kind of pricey, but the lunch deal is killer! My dad is allergic to sesame and they forgot to take it off of one roll. We got one roll free to go! Definitely my new go-to place.

If you look at my history I NEVER write bad reviews. But after my boyfriend swallowed PLASTIC that was in his food, it gets stuck in his THROAT and he starts CHOKING, followed by the both of us violently sick later that evening of food poisoning… I had to write something. Not only did they not seem to care but they didn’t even void any portion of our check. They just took the plastic and his plate away. I’ve worked in restaurants since I was 15 and have seen less serious events occur to patrons and yet they were treated with the utmost respect. I have never seen such a poorly handled establishment like this place. Sorry, but choking, food poisoning and not an act of concern or care from the staff… definitely a deal breaker for me.

Stopped in for lunch with some clients. Ordered the tuna Carpaccio, seaweed salad, miso soup and volcano roll. The soup was excellent and had a creamy texture. The type of Miso paste they used did not taste like one I have had before. Seaweed salad was your standard, pre-made affair that everyone has. The Carpaccio was excellent with jalapeño slices on top with a yuzu dressing. The volcano roll was huge and quite good. The spicy sauce was slightly different than elsewhere and it was topped with a Japanese powder which added another layer of taste. Service was good and the restaurant was clean and well lit. Only drawback was their parking lot is tiny. Recommended if you are in the area.

Great sushi lunch specials! Can choose two or three regular rolls and either comes with soup and salad. The soup is always hot and fresh and the salad is a large plate with an extremely generous amount of ginger dressing on the side. The rolls always taste fresh and warm and they have brown rice! Their special rolls all look delicious and I would probably give this review 5 stars if I had one, but they’re very pricy. Clean place with friendly staff. Quick service. Pretty small parking lot.
