Best bagel in Westchester, period. The jewish deli fish is delicious too. Get a bagel with ¼lb of sturgeon. You wont be dissapointed.

One year later… and still… The best bagels in NY. Better than any other in westchester. Better than any I’ve had downtown. These surpass the so called best places is manhattan and queens. I go out of my way to get them, from the Hudson River to quaker ridge road. Worth it even in 2 degree weather. Always hot. Lots of seeds and stuff. Hot everything bagel with butter is heaven. Crunchy and blistered outside. Chewy inside. This is the One. There is often a line. Moves fast. The best there is. All others are dreck. This is not a sorority house. Don’t expect seating, waitresses, and sweetie pie. These are the best bagels made by true genius. They make superb goods. No bread rolls disguised as bagels, Doughy sponge from places that sell too many other things. This is the one true bagel… At H&R. Get them and go. And keep returning. There are no others.

The best bagels in lower Westchester! And nova to die for

You want the best bagel in Westchester? H&R is the spot. Hands down the best bagel in the county and I seriously think it makes a better bagel than most NYC bagel shops. This place is the real deal. They boil and bake their bread on premises. You can actually see it from the counter. Ignore the décor and general sloppiness of the store… because the bagels are out of this world. Old school, no $ 5 fancy iced coffees or cream cheeses here. Throwback bagel store with lines out the door. Living around the area most of my life, I recently returned after a 10 year hiatus to find that the bagel store I remember as a child still exists and still makes an awesome bagel. My daughter ordered tuna on a bagel and said it was the best she ever had. Keep it up… love this place across the board. FYI… cash only. There is a Chase next door.

Super disappointed in this place. Bagels are okay. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese and they microwaved the bacon. I get this may not be a breakfast sandwich type of place but why offer a bacon, egg, and cheese if you’re not going to cook it on a grill.

Hands down the best bagels I’ve found in Westchester. It’s out of my way, and still I sometimes find myself making a trip. If you go at say just before 8 am on Saturday, they’ve usually just taken some everything bagels out of the oven. If, unlike me, you like caraway seeds and love them on your bagels, these aren’t for you.

The best New York bagel you’ll ever eat. Perfect consistency, temperature, and whatever else you can look for in a bagel. I miss H&R from across the country.

These are the real deal! I am a born and bred NYer and recent transplant to New Rochelle and when I followed up on a tip to try this place, I was blown away! The bagels are made the old fashioned way– first boiled then baked on wet wooden planks right in front of your eyes! As if that’s not enough, the bagels are warm, crisp and chewy all at the same time(just like I like them). I had lox and cream cheese on an everything with tomatoes and onions, and it was just like heaven! I will go back here forever! The first magic culinary experience I’ve had in New Rochelle! Can’t say enough about this place !

Best bagels in Westchester, maybe best bagels anywhere! Mike knows how to bake a bagel the old style way! Boil them and then bake them, it’s not baking a loaf of bread like most«bagel stores’ do, it’s an art and Mike is a true bagel artist! They also have great lox, baked salmon salad and white fish salad.

I love these bagels. I got a tip from someone that these were great bagels. After trying Sammy’s, Bagel Power, Scarsdale Bagels, and a plethora of others, I was totally unimpressed. But these bagels are great. You can see from the counter that they are boiling and baking the bagels on site. Love that. There are no tables and chairs at this store, this is a pick up place only. Also, it seems the be the MO that most bagel places around here are pretty dirty and dingy looking. Why is that? It’s always packed on Sunday morning and you are always guaranteed to get a hot fresh bagel. You will not be sorry. I wish this Unilocal listing said«New Rochelle» instead of Wykegyl. Despite it being technically correct, it’s harder to find when doing a bagel search on Unilocal if you don’t know the nuances of New Rochelle. NOTE: THEYONLYACCEPTCASH!

Went here today and was greeted by a employee who could care less what we wanted. He actually looked as if he was mad that we were ordering. Bagel was okay, but nothing special. I will not be going back.

Nothing great. If you live nearby, I get going but don’t make a special trip. An egg bagel should actually have egg yolk in it, not copious amounts of yellow dye.

Hot bagels! Crispy-chewy skin, moist, soft center! It does not get better than this. Coffee was ‘meh’. Don’t know about other offerings.

I remember my first time in Wykagyl as a young child at H&R Bialy Corp, I loved the bagels. As I continued to high school at Ursuline it was the breakfast go to. Know in my late 30’s early 40’s, it is what I bring to my employees in Manhattan. They are like where did you get these? I am like not H&H. They are the best as far as I am concerned. Keep it Going!!!

I saw the rave reviews so i figured i’d try it. The bagels themselves are fine, even good by Westchester’s low standards. But, when i saw lox/sable/whitefish on the menu, i figured i’d hold them to a sterner test. I went for the Lox Spread on my bagel. Big mistake. It was vile. Looked like chum and tasted worse. Ruined a perfectly good bagel. Amazingly, the coffee was nasty too. Not sure i ever had coffee bad enough to throw out before. So, the bagels are fine. But respectfuilly recommend leaving it at that.

These are the best bagels in the world. As mentioned below, everyone that grew up on these bagels uses them as a point of reference for all other bagels and the others can never beat it. I’ve stunk up entire cabins of airplanes«carrying on» their everything bagels when visiting friends all over the country. Their lox spread is also the best ever. I never even knew that they had a name beyond«The Bagel Store»… it’s a landmark and if you’re eating bagels elsewhere, especially if you’re on the North End of New Rochelle, you should be ashamed.

Though I now live in the city, I grew up practically next door to this bagel shop and still come back when I have the chance. I use H & R Bialy as the benchmark when rating a bagel anywhere else. I like my bagels HOT, Well Done and with a crispy brown bottom. A bagel that initially crunches, lets out a puff of steam, and has a soft fluffy center is a bagel that satisfies my palate every time. If you get here at the right times throughout the day, you can almost always get your bagel steaming hot out of the oven. The great thing about this shop is that you actually see the bagels being made from scratch right behind the counter. This is about as real of a New York neighborhood bagel shop that you can find, and is still better than any that I have been to in the city. The authenticity of tradition is present throughout this small store front; until a few years ago they even still used an old fashion cash register. They sell fresh homemade coffee, have a wide array of deli products, a refrigerator stocked full of sodas and juices, and they also provide the newspaper daily. The first thing I noticed when I went away to college in Pennsylvania was the lacking authenticity of bagels and pizza. People claim that it has something to do with the New York Water, but I am more than confident that if these guys opened a shop in State College, PA, they could make miracles. PLEASEINCLUDEMEIFYOUDO!

I’ve been coming here since i was probably 2 years old and this is my favorite bagel place anywhere. The staff and owners are so nice, and will always give a mini-bagel to any young visitor. Delicious, perfect bagels — the first place I run to whenever I come home.
