At first, I didn’t really want to take a drive out to Reading. Let’s face it, I live in Philadelphia and leaving the city is a pain. However, we drove out to Laser Quest for a friend’s birthday and I’m quite happy we did. I had fun in the far burbs(gasp) First off, this place is family zone. There are little kids running around everywhere so if that’s not your scene, I’d skip it. We arrived a bit early and got to sit in the waiting area and observe the other customers. When we finally got our tickets and got to give names(I used Tony Stark and Ron Burgundy) you walk into the«air lock» chamber where you are given instructions. It’s pretty simple, don’t act like a jerk. Don’t run, don’t curse, don’t hit other people. The course itself is quite fun. It’s very dark with loud dramatic music playing. You’ll feel like you’re in a video game as you round corners and destroy your enemies. Be warned, your gun has sensors on it too which will register as a hit for another player. The prices were quite decent and all in all, it was a really fun time. In our second round(when I played as Ron Burgundy) there was a group of pre-bros who kept getting mad when I would spring out of the darkness, shoot all 4 of them and bolt. That was an excellent round for me since I finished 3rd in the group. Maybe they shouldn’t have been such good targets…

I came out this way for a friend’s birthday party the other weekend. Now mind you, we’re all in our 20′ and 30’s, but we had a blast. The course here is really pretty cool — tons of neon/glow-in-the-dark paint and blue lights, multiple levels with ramps and hideaways, a healthy dose of fog, and mirrors galore. The laser equipment that they use gets coded with your name and it keeps track of your score since they rank you at the end of the game. The staff was fun to work with and did a decent job getting everyone excited. There were a lot of people here(kids included), so I recommend a reservation if you’re going to be bringing a large group. It wasn’t entirely cheap($ 25 for two sessions), but it was a nice departure from the bar scene on a Saturday night. The only downside is that the parking lot here is a massive pain in the a– on weekends, but other than that, I have no complaints!
