A store that keeps the music alive The Music Center of Norwich is a relatively small store that offers lots of different instruments and services. A cool place to poke around and look and it was fun watching all the different people go in and out of the store carrying different types of instruments. Apparently they have a thriving business on lessons alone. The usual Fender, Washburn, Hammer, Parker and Takamine guitars were hanging on the walls but several other well known brands seem to be missing. Lot of of amps, drums, mandolins and banjos were obvious as well as the typical band and orchestra music makers. Quite a selection at hand. I was primarily looking for sheet music of the Renaissance or Medieval eras but didn’t find anything but that’s hardly surprising. Most local music stores don’t carry it but occasionally I get lucky. I did find a cool little drum and some rosin and I had a great time looking around. This is a music store that serves the local people especially the bands and orchestras of the schools. They do repairs and give lessons and seem to do it quite well. Not a place to find a harp, lute or gamba but if you are looking for a flute, guitar or banjo they just might be what you are looking for. If nothing else it’s great fun to listen to the precocious young Bachs and Mozarts honking, wheezing, tooting, plucking and stomping in the background. A store that keeps the music alive
