Food was very good, waitstaff and bartenders are great!!! Love that they have bands start at 730. It is a much older crowd but we had a blast! We will definitely be back. Hopefully some younger people will start going too. They also have a salad bar that is included with the dinners.

I am amazed that YRI is only rated at 2.5 stars. We have been eating there every 1 – 3 months for about 3 years. I have never had a meal that I would rate under 4 stars overall. Sometimes part of a meal is not up to par. ONCE the coleslaw was really poor. It is usually very good. ONCE the rice was bland and not hot. Things happen sometimes. My wife & I have been twice in the last month. My wife had lasagna once & taco salad the other time. She liked both. I had fish & chips with no chips once. I just rarely eat FF. I asked for a rice substitution and got it with no problem. The fish was excellent and there was a large amount of it. Great value for the money. Last Saturday I ordered a corned beef Rachel. It was listed with fries on the menu. I asked for & received soup as a substitute. No problem. The Rachel was better than the one at my favorite Jewish Deli. I mean really! It was fabulous! The wait staff is almost always on the money.(I did promise to mention Dawn as doing a great job one evening but she is not the only excellent waitress.) I would like to mention that the YRI has the best Margarita of any of the restaurants that I have been to in the last 10 years. Some of them have been pretty nasty.

Ok breakfast except for the undercooked eggs and I mean runny egg whites on over easy eggs. Good sausage links. Scary outdated devote. Slow half friendly service. The pantry is where we really wanted to go but they are closed on Sunday.

First, you need to get past the décor. It’s gone retro in a bad way, to the point I wanted to walk out. When we sat down, we got a great server who told us that the entrees included the full salad bar, which was full of the usual salad stuff. Plus different kinds of pasta and potato salads. You could easily fill up on those! The portions were enormous. My wife loved the lobster tail and I got a pasta dish. Both came with ample sides. That added to the salad bar makes this one of the absolute best values I’ve seen. To top it off, the server checked on our refills and our enjoyment of the meal just enough times. They are really focused on making their diners happy. Right now, this place is filled with an older crowd, but I would recommend it for families and those dining out on a budget. We couldn’t have been happier!

Had high expectations that the new YRI(yantic river inn) would be reminiscent of the«original» YRI from years gone by… The look was certainly VERY different and not in a good way. But hey people have different tastes and my tastes were really set on the memorial prime rib from days gone by. I ordered it medium rare and it came to the table a grey looking slab that tasted like it had been dipped in sea water. Tough, tasteless, so salty I had to drink 3 glasses of water. I never finished it. Absolutely the worse prime rib, hell the worse piece of meat I’ve ever had… ever… My hat’s off to the effort the owner puts in trying to «market» all sorts of events but with out much luck. But psst… create an outstanding meal with outstanding food and the marketing will take care of itself.

Great dinner and enjoyed the entertainment afterward in the lounge. Haven’t had a bad meal since the new ownership.

We just had their New Year’s Eve dinner at was very disappointed. First off the service is horrible and non existent, you feel as though you’re ignored on purpose. They were not even busy. It took forever to get the drink order and our waitress forgot my wife’s drinks twice. My clam chowder was a chowder without the clams and was most likely watered down and was served on the cool side of warm and not hot. Same with my wife’s bisque. We never got the chance to ask to have it warmed because as I said above the waitress ignored us. The entrée’s were very fatty and not good quality, with the sides served cold. My wife’s entrée was bland and cold as well. I had the prime rib and it was over seasoned with some kind of canon seasoning. Some how they ran out of half of the desert choices with barley half of the place filled. The cake that we got was dry and tasteless. Only because it was a holiday is the reason I gave any kind of a tip at all. Even though one was not deserved. I gave them the one star because the only thing that was not a disappoint was the bread and salad bar. I do NOT recommend the yantic river inn to anyone.

So my family and I went here in order to use up a coupon from a year ago. Unfortunately, since then, there has been new management and thus the coupon wouldnt work. We still had a good meal though! I never knew such a nice place could exist in such a depressed town as Norwich! You don’t need to order appetizers because of the salad bar and the complimentary bread with dipping oil. The salad bar is only $ 3 with a meal. For my entrée, I had almond flaked tilapia with green beans and rice pilaf. The tilapia was good, but a bit too salty for me. My brother had chicken parmesean with linguini and my mom had seafood medley linguini. The portions were HUGE. We didn’t need to order 3 entrees — 2 would’ve sufficed. And they weren’t skimpy with the seafood. I counted 20 shrimps, 5 mussels, and 3 scallops in the seafood linguini!
