Greeted by a «morning sunshine«cheery woman. Sat ourself at the counter, which runs down the middle of the diner. Not your typical set up, I should have taken a picture. I ordered the steak and cheese omelette special with home fries, toast. Great omelette with shaved steak. Potatoes were eh. Not bad but not good. My friend had basics eggs, etc and enjoyed it. Good enough that we went back the next day during our vacation. Had the same meal. Same review. Just wasn’t a big fan of the spuds. Service and good were good. Check it out. Good diner feel.

I recently had the opportunity to have breakfast a few times at the Rte 28 Diner when I was visiting the area for vacation. I’m not an early riser, so when I and my Brewster family met for breakfast, we never had trouble finding a place to sit(but I understand that it can get crowded earlier in the morning). My favorite were the Eggs Benedict, which were quite delicious and satisfying. I tried the bagel sandwich which was also yummy and filling. Most mornings our server was Nancy, who was one of the friendliest servers I’ve ever seen. She always made us feel welcome and even gave us nicknames and great service. The manager was very attentive one of the mornings we were in, making sure we had everything we needed. The prices are reasonable, although you need to pay with cash as they do not take plastic or checks. Luckily we had enough cash for our first visit, and made sure we had cash for the other visits. It’s not a really big place, but it was comfortable. I’ll be sure to go again on my next visit. Also, it is a short walk from the Pine Knot motel, which made it very convenient for me.
