When we first moved to Westchester and started taking advantage of the summer Bronx River Pkwy closings, we headed to County Cycles to help maintain our bikes The staff has always been knowledgeable and helpful. They give great tips and suggestions that have helped us keep our bikes in great condition. For this reason hubby and I came back again, to purchase a new bicycle for me. Because of the weather, we’re not in a rush to take it right away; instead, we put some money down and decided to do layaway. I’m hoping the weather improves by the time we’re ready to take it home. The price for my new bike is comparable to other shops, if not less. I’m happy with the purchase and the help that we received when making our decision.

Awesome place to buy a bike or get your current one serviced. There is no pressure to buy and they don’t look to up sell you at all. I just bought a bike and the owner started out showing me the lower priced bikes. I can’t remember the last time I went somewhere that didn’t start out with the high priced stuff. I also bought a rack and one of the staff came out and showed me how to hook it up to my car and made sure it fit. I wish I got the names of the people who helped me to put on here.

I have to say the first few times I went to this shop, I had very good service. Vinny had helped me both times. He was very helpful and friendly. I got a tune up for my Specialized and I was also very happy with the work they did. Unfortunately I recently visited again with some questions about how to make my bike more comfortable and also with the intention of buying some bike accessories(lock/chain and air pump). Unfortunately, Vinny doesn’t work there anymore. The only people in the shop seemed to be the guys who normally fix the bikes. I told one of the gentlemen I was there for some adjustments to my bike, I was given very short answers to my questions with very little information as to what they could do. I also inquired about a very nice bike they had at the window but the person helping me didn’t seem to know much about it or care to give much information about that particular bike or any others I asked him to compare it to. The bike was so awesome I had almost decided to buy it before I had spoken to them. But after I received such poor service I decided to go elsewhere. This is unfortunate because I really like to support local shops and this one is a five minute walk from my house. In the end I didn’t buy the bike, get my current bike fixed or buy the other accessories I intended to buy to begin with. I will try to find another bike shop with experts who are willing to educate and happily help their customers. By the way, I don’t know if this is normal practice for most bike shops, but they refused to let us test ride the bike we were interested in and also said that they would not allow returns if we bought it and ended up not liking it.

It’s all about the personalized service you receive here. When I bought my first bike there in 2003 and didn’t even know what I wanted, Danny asked me a few basic questions and suggested to try on a Trek mountain bike which I still love. Years later bought two more bikes there. They will help you select a suitable bike, just go with their recommendations and you’ll be happy! Danny and co., are really great, and very knowledgeable. They want you to be happy and they never push anything you don’t need. Great old-fashioned service that is very difficult to come by these days.

I bought my original bike from them about three years ago. My bike needed some work, and I was thinking of upgrading. After talking to the owner he convinced me that it would be better for me to fix the bike then to buy a new one. Where else can you go where somebody talks you out of spending more money.

Best bike shop around, no doubt. I have been coming here for nearly thirty years and have never had a problem. The staff are informed, attentive and there is no hard selling. They will provide you with an honest estimate for repairs and will get you your bike back in short order. They do not carry a lot of the fancy extras you might find in some of the other places, but if you are looking for quality bikes and good service, you need to come here.

If you want friendly, honest and knowledgeable advice about a bike before you buy it — comfort bike, mountain bike, hybrid bike, or even higher end road bike — then go see Danny at County Cycle. Everyone in the store will stop what they are doing to answer questions or offer advice. And there’s no hard sell. They want you to be happy with your bike and to enjoy riding it. You can even pop a bike up on a stationary trainer to try it out before you buy it. Check this place out!
