Tyrone House

I work not too far away, and while I love some of the other places on the Yonkers waterfront scene, I have a real soft spot for Tyrone’s. I never order one Guinness but two are delivered to me, and Mary always offers to buy me a shot.
The food is simple but good: pastrami on rye with French fries that were hot and crispy on my most recent visit. Their potato salad is also outstanding.
Yes, there are hipper places to go. But this place is authentic, a little gritty, and beyond friendly. It’s the kind of place your grandfather would have gone to back in the day. Not a damn thing wrong with that!

Such a cool «Cheers» kinda place, nothing fancy jute box great place for a group of friends. Sean and John two great bartenders funny and cool! Cheap drinks!

The bartender on the night that I went was very approachable and willing to offer suggestions. The person I was with mentioned that they were hungry. They only serve food here for lunch, but the bartender had a stack of food menus ready to share with us. He also made my friend his special drink which she liked, but it was too strong for her to finish.

I moved to SoYo less than a year ago. What the bar may lack in décor it more than makes up in warmth. The bartenders I usually deal with (John and Sean) are fantastic people. Funny and approachable. Prices are right. As of this review I have not tried the food since I always go at night. As far as I’m concerned this is my local spot.

I’m not quite sure what to make of this place. I went on a tuesday around dinner time and the grill was off/​everything was away.
The woman behind the bar fired the grill right up and got us fed. The food was good and the service was prompt.
I didn’t see a menu or anything, but everything was well done… I just can’t give it 5 stars because it was literally two of us and I don’t think they could’ve accommodated more than that with only her on staff.

so yeah/​this place is amazing. I just moved to Yonkers from Denver, and needed a place to drink, well I found it and it’s awesome!!! I sat down at the bar introduced myself to a nice lady named Mary very friendly and accommodating, pints of beer and shots of whiskey, I thought it was going to cost me an arm and a leg/​but Mary hooked me up/​buys you a few :) cheap as hell/​I also tried the burger it was HUGE!!! and very delicious, I had to cut it in half a Mary put it in a to-​go box and put in some homemade potato salad/​that was very nice/​came back the next day for more drinks /​this place is great!!! also John the bartender in the evenings is pretty awesome!

Nice local Irish pub! Great place to grab a beer on the way home after a long day. Nice jukebox good people, check it out

Popped in here late Saturday afternoon and the place was empty, with the exception of one table and another gent at the bar.
Bartender was sweet and accomodating. One woman– show. Bartender/​cook/​server/​buss-​woman. Drinks are good.
No menus. No salads. Only burgers, potato salad and a limited variety of sandwiches.
If you’re not a beef eater like myself, this may not be the place for you.
Service was great and they allow outside food (Pizza spot that makes great salads and calzones just down the block and around the corner)
Metered parking.
I’d definitely stop in again for a few drinks.

A real «local» Irish pub run by Mary and Jimmy forever. One of the oldest businesses in Yonkers, the «T-​House» as the locals call it, has stood the test of time. Some of the best burgers ever and Mary’s potato salad is some of the best I’ve ever had. They are really a lunch place; don’t go in at night expecting a meal. And don’t be surprised to find the Mayor, a former Mayor or other politicos, police, fire and other locals in the back room. It’s been filmed several times («Rescue Me,» «The Blacklist,» etc.).

Now THIS is an Irish bar. I was, like many times before, on my way to somewhere else and stumbled across this bar. I actually walked past it while looking for the recommended lunch place. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I turned around and went back and in.
I ordered a beer and started to read the previous Unilocal reviews. Based on the some previous reviews, I knew (?) that 1) the food was pretty good, 2) it was reasonably priced and 3) the menu was on a small white board behind the bar.
I really wanted a Pastrami sandwich but growing up eating at Kosher delis, it’s hard to order Pastrami where they think it deserves mayo and Swiss Cheese. So, another burger added to my list of burger joints. Mary, the owner/​bartender suggested her homemade potato salad rather than fries… why not.
The burger was huge and seasoned with something I couldn’t identify, but it was tasty. The homemade potato salad was really good. Somewhere along the way I ended up with another beer.
Comes time to leave and I ask for the check. She looks at me, looks at my plate and says $ 14. WHAT? A burger with potato salad and 2 beers for $ 14, you’d better run to this place!

Super friendly! Always a fun crowd with not only a great staff but also friendly and fun customers. The tyrone house is a must stop for fun!

The perfect neighborhood bar. Friendly atmosphere and great food! My husband and I had corned beef and cabbage and a couple rounds of drinks for under $ 35.

A group of us went to go there for dinner last Saturday night & a nastier group you could not have encountered. It was around 6pm & we were basically told that they we not serving food & to go somewhere else — which is what we did. They themselves had just ordered in a pizza ! Nothing nice about this place & I would tell anyone remotely interested to go anywhere else there on Main St. They obviously don’t want new business. We were very disappointed & honeslty, treated very badly. The place looks questionable at best.

We went to this place based on the reviews and boy were you all correct. This place is GREAT and the food was really good. Sorry no wings (only during big sporting events)
We went for lunch. The menu is on a small board so whatever they have on it is what you get. When we were there they had about 8 different dishes. I had the chicken cutlets and my husband had the meatloaf and both were delicious. If you make it a platter you get real homemade mashed potatoes with corn and peas for $ 10 pp.
The bartender Mary (owner) was WONDERFUL and VERY friendly. She talked to us about how long they’ve been there and the history of the place. She even introduced us to one of her oldest customers, he’s been going there for almost 50 years.
This is a great place to hang out.

A great local hang out to catch a few drinks after you get out of work. I just wished they served some more food.
It’s also a great place to catch a night cap after going to another restaurant in Downtown Yonkers.

Nice people, nice setting, good food. Burger is gigantic! Burger, fried & a Blue Moon for $ 11, can’t go wrong!

Because this place is a historic landmark.
The owners are the absolute friendliest. I just love this bar. Filling good food. Large portions. Always a nice group of people to talk to.
And it’s a plus that the area has greatly improved. Check this place out when you’re in the mood for local and homestyle!

Went in last night for my first time.
Been looking for a local bar for a while, since my last place closed. It looks bigger on the outside then it really is. The inside is nice though. Long bar and booths, a back room when I guess it gets busy.
Everyone there was nice, the bartender was great. Cheap liquor and good food. I was happy.
