What can I say, a visit to Sharmini’s Kitchen is a wonderful experience. The food is fabulous and you never know what will be on the menu each week. This makes it a great surprise. Besides the food, Sharmini makes your entire experience so enjoyable! She’s so passionate about her cuisine and she truly has such a welcoming warmth to her personality. How fortunate we are to experience such delicious Malaysian cuisine in this area, with such outstanding customer service! Besides being such a great cook, she is truly a gifted baker. I had the pleasure of recently ordering a cake from her. It was so good and absolutely beautiful. What can I say, what a great talent! I don’t even live in York but travel there to visit Sharmini’s Kitchen!

Went there for first time and Sharmini was very friendly and helpful explaining the dishes. I ended up having difficulty deciding and asked for a little of several items and everything I tried was delicious and fresh. I’ve had Malaysian food before other places, this was well done and she had a few specialties that could be combined in different ways for people that are vegan, meat, seafood etc. Was a bit pricy but unique and worth the cost for quality ingredients and preparation. The market was not open the next day when we went back, would be nice if the hours included Friday evenings.

Malaysian food is not something I come across often. Sharmini’s version of Hainanese Chicken Rice is delicious. It’s is worth the money to sample authentic Malaysian food. The market is not airconditoned but it’s not something easily changed without a huge investment. I would eat here again.

Let me start off by saying there’s not much to eat around York. So I’m going to help by doing a service and Unilocaling the only places worth eating around here. It’s a shame the central market is only open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday, cause I work in Baltimore and only get to enjoy this place on the Saturdays I’m in town. With that said Sharmini’s Kitchen is a wonderful little gem and one of my favorite places in all of York. Every week she does something different that is a mix of Malaysian and other Asian cuisine. But what she offers up more than her amazing selections of Asian fusion food is her awesome personality and conversations. Never a dull moment when you stop by Sharmini’s stand. She’s great and I highly recommend trying whatever she’s selling! Oh and her Curry puffs are to die for!

Sharmini’s Kitchen is amazing. Each dish is made with quality ingredients. Sharmini’s Curry Puffs are a must try! Sharmini is also available for catering private events. I think that part of the experience I enjoy about grabbing lunch from her stand is how personable Sharmini is. If you have not tried her Malaysian cuisine, please go visit her in Central Market.

Okay so I have a love hate relationship with Sharmini’s Kitchen. I love the food. I hate that the hours are so limited and that the last two times I’ve made it to the market she was closed and sold out. Hence, 4 stars. Can’t wait for expansion. ;-) I’ve only had a few dishes but all have been tasty. And the ginger peanut sauce, what can I say. It’s a sauce. But I found myself ordering a small serving and eating it straight. Oh did I mention Sharmini herself is extremely friendly and nice? So check this little eatery out the next time you visit the market. I believe she is catering events now. So if you want to offer sometging more exciting than pizza or Subway. Give her a call.
