Best Seafood on the East Coast! I’ve eaten here a few times now and have been blown away by the quality of the seafood and the flavor of the sauces.

Great value for price with large portions. Ordered shrimp & hush puppies. Food arrived very, very hot off the stove.

Around 2:30pm. Eatery busy like lunch rush crowd.
Only down side is one side items with meals.
Nice cute whole in the wall place.

My co-​workers have been raving about this place for months. Finally dragged myself down for a lunch sandwich.
Purchased a po-​boy. Wow. Not quite what I am use to but very flavorful and worth the money and wait. Menu varies between locations. Hoped to find more veggies to eat with sandwich.
This is not fast food and the place was jammed pack. I am sure it was at its legal capacity. No tables available and standing room at a minimum. Impressed at the calm of order taker /​cashier. Know what you want before approaching register, you may get sent to the back of the line.

If you are ever in town you must I repeat you must visit this place if you are seafood lover! The portions are huge and the food is always made to order and fresh! My favorite her is the Skrimp po boy with crab! Oh and don’t forget to ask for the special sauce.

I’m from out of town and saw the reviews on Unilocal.The reviews are accurate for the shrimp. We ordered grilled and breaded and both were excellent

We tried the fish tacos and the Skrimp and Whiting basket. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable. If you buy the basket, the drink and side order are included. The french fries were tasty and not overcooked. You can choose the type of fish for the tacos. I selected the haddock — tasty!
We tried this restaurant based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. This is a casual place where you order at the counter. Not full service but the employees were friendly and helpful. If you want fried seafood, this is a good option.

My mouth is drooling thinking about this place. No seriously I’m salivating. Best shrimp and crab poboy of your life. The sauce they put on these is also beyond amazing. For $ 10 you get so much seafood it is insane. It literally falls out of the bread. Speaking of the bread, that is amazing too, fresh baked in house, and absorbs the yummy sauce. The other stuff they have looks good too but I stick with my skrimp and crab poboy. Their hushpuppies were ok, not the best I’ve had, but that’s not why I come here. The owners are always in house and so sweet. FYI more of take out place as seating is very limited.

Came in for the Fish Sammich… Stayed for the Position Boy.
Wow! What can you say when your mouth is stuffed full of food this delicious. Their seafood is fresh, seasonings perfect, and atmosphere friendly & informal. I highly recommended this place to anyone that enjoys the best eats that eastern Virginian coast has to offer.

Tasted great and lots of food for the price. My mom and I were able to share the skrimp and crab meat po boy with fries. The sauce was sweet and a tad spicy and that was the mild version! Great deal and delicious food!

Very disappointed… my boyfriend was very upset with what he got. We’ve been here several times and we’re usually satisfied. But the «Daily Special,» which he got, the scallops, were not satisfying for the price. Another disappointing thing is that if you get it as a combo you would have to add another side for$ 1.50. We don’t mind paying extra, but if the meal itself is $ 13 already, then you add a side and drink, it’s added cost is not even worth it. They are good when it comes to their regular items, but I don’t think they specialize in other things. Since I got a special as well, the Soft Shell Crab sandwich… not very good, I won’t be getting that again. Seen it made better at other places.

The smells that come from this place… Oh man!!! Carl recently took over this place and he’s done an outstanding job. On our original visit here, I got a shrimp po boy and H got a catfish sandwich. The po boy came out dripping in their sauce. I highly recommend purchasing some extra sauce to take home with you, it’s to die for– a little sweet, a little spice! The catfish sandwich was so massive that we took some home. If you know my boyfriend, that doesn’t happen often!
Our second visit there, we got some shirts and a cup of chowder. I’ve never been a fan of chowders, but it was so good!
This visit I got the fat flounder sandwich with Mac n cheese, and H got the catfish sandwich with hush puppies. Sitting waiting for our food, I couldn’t help but drool at the cake they have out. Once again, it was too much to eat in once sitting. Skrimp Shack always does a great job!

Everything I’ve ever had here is AMAZING! The spicy sauce is wonderful. The staff is always friendly and the food served quickly and very hot.

Totally enjoyed the shrimp and crabmeat PO boy with the spicy sauce, which was a great addition. The food was really good and fresh, served piping hot and plentiful. The roll was also excellent and nicely toasted.
I went out of my way to stop in and I am glad I did. Counter service was fast and friendly and the place was very clean.
I will definitely stop by the next time I am in town.

Sweet baby Jesus, this place was WONDERFUL! Get the crabmeat and skrimp poboy. The coleslaw was great as a side as well (it’s vinegar based). Will be returning!

Get the Crab and shrimp ‘po boy! Agh, you *won’t* be sorry.
But you might be sorry that you didn’t order two instead. Stomach will be filled to the brim, though, as these sandwiches are very substantial and delicious. Hefty chunks of crab and fat shrimp properly doused in the shack’s housemade sauce (get the hot, spicy!)
Bummer I didn’t have any pictures — I was too busy wolfing down the sandwich and getting the oohs and ahhs to get a shot. We also ordered a soft-​shell crab sandwich, which was not as impressive. The spidery crab arrived sitting solo on two pieces of bread! Lol, a funny sight. They should have added more fixings to this particular sandwich and made it more interesting. But it was fried well. Lines are also long, so consider the time if you’re in a rush.

The food was incredible! Simple, flavorful, and in large portions. In fact, the owner came out to chat with us when he heard we were new to the area and that’s exactly how he described his intent — simple, good food.
The skrimp and crab meat Po-​Boy was mouthwatering. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the crab was tender and juicy. The sauce was amazing — next time I think I’ll go for the sweet sauce instead of the spicy (it was quite warm). Paired with sweet potato fries which were also very good.
Others in my party had catfish nuggets, fried whiting, skrimp baskets, and one mac-​and-​cheese. Everyone was delighted and we left with very full bellies and leftovers.
At $ 6 to $ 10 per person, the value can’t be beat.
Pictures next time. I was really hungry and forgot to snap some before I dug in. After I tasted the food, I wasn’t thinking about much else until I was done.

I just love The Skrimp Shack. From the owners, staff and finally the food! I would be more of a regular, but I just don’t make my way around that area too often. While not a hole in the wall this place is very small so the few times I have been there I did take out. I did eat this time and just like the last time one of the owners would always come around asking us how was our meal along with giving us samples of some of there items. Everything is always cooked perfectly and taste fantastic. The only reason that they don’t get 5 stars is because of the size of the place if you are planning on eating in. We had the fish and shrimp dinner this visit and had a $ 1 up charge for the catfish instead of the whiting.
Next time will have to try a Po-​Boy because I saw someone else plate and it looked so so good.

I save my five-​star reviews for places where I become a regular and they just continually do things well. From time to time I will come across those places that just blow my mind. The Skrimp Shack is that kind of place.
I am a big fan of «hole-​in-​the-​wall» cuisine. Especially when it comes to fried seafood. I got here just after 2PM expecting the lunch crowd to be gone. Instead the line was to the door and they had already sold out of soft shell crab. No worries, this was a good sign. I ordered the crab and shrimp po boy with a side of fries and sweet tea. By the time my food was ready a table had cleared and I grabbed a seat.
I took my first bite of the po boy and it was like time slowed for a few seconds. The taste was unbelievable. I got their hot sauce which is creamy and spicy, with a touch of mustard seed tang. Truly the best sauce I’ve ever tasted on a po boy. The shrimp were crispy and piping hot and the crab was sweet and delicious.
In many situations like this the fries can be an after-​thought. A sad underwhelming anecdote to a mind blowing main event. Not these fries. They were fresh, rocket hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. A perfect complement to the po boy euphoria I was experiencing. I am ruined, but in a good way. Can’t wait to come back!
