I must say that yesterday was my first visit and unfortunately my last only because the tavern is closing on Saturday April 3rd for good. I guess I have missed many fantastic meals over the years and that I do regret. I was invited to dinner by a friend and ordered the chicken parmigiana and it was fantastic. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was plentiful. The noodles were aldente. I also loved the oil and vinegar salad that was seasoned with garlic. It is sad to hear my friend speak of all the great memories he has of his family getting together at this restaurant over the years. Another Youngstown landmark that will disappear forever.

I have loved this place for years. A Youngstown ohio institution. Friday for fish and pierogies. The fish is cod, the pierogies are home made, probably some local church. Bread. And my favorite salad, chopped lettuce with oil vinegar and garlic. Their everyday specials are great, but Friday is when you hit this place up. Sorry about the pictures, I was hungry! Fried cod, salad and bread, and three of the four pirogies. Now post, and finish it off!

I like the charm of the facility. Lots of interesting old Youngstown pictures. Kind of a quaint space. Nice entry room at the front with a nice bar. A few nooks and crannies to make it interesting. Also, the Boulevard has decades of nice history behind it which you feel from the atmosphere. You need to know that the bar provides only wine and beer, no liquor. Yesterday, Thursday, was when we visited. The house tossed salad was composed of iceberg lettuce, no salad greens, and was coated in a vinegar and oil dressing. It was crisp, chilled and tasty. The spaghetti and two nice-sized meatballs was very tasty but the serving was more warm than hot. Fresh brewed iced tea was not available. But, they did serve real butter with the bread rather than poison(otherwise known as margarine). The waitress picked up my glass at the rim rather than lower down – unsanitary. It’s great to have a restaurant open on the Southside of Youngstown. If business doesn’t pick up, a move to the suburbs could happen. Our loss.

What can I say, this place is the best!!! The fish dinner is second to none, the pasta dishes are outstanding and the peirogis are great, the house salad alone is worth the trip. My family has frequented this restaurant for 4 generations, it is our favorite place to eat!!! The staff is always friendly and inviting!
