My parents and I tried it for the first time today. While we liked the food in general, we all agreed that the type of bread they use isn’t the best for constructing a sub sandwich. It’s a bit too soft and pillowy, especially for heavier(read: messier) fillings like Italian sausage with sauce. We were impressed with the freshness(we saw them slicing our provolone with a deli slicer) and taste of everything, but the staff were disappointingly unfriendly, impatient, and seemed bothered that we had never been there before. When we walked in, the girl behind the counter just stood there and stared at us. No smile, no hello, no greeting whatsoever. Having no idea how large the portions were, we each got an order of fries with our sandwiches and no one bothered to warn us that each bag of fries could very well serve two or more people. We ended up throwing roughly two orders of fries in the trash. Perhaps these are petty grievances, but no matter how incredible the food is, if the staff doesn’t back it up, the experience is no better than having your order tossed at you through a drive-through window, accompanied by a look of utter disgust. TL;DR: The food is very good, but the staff drags the experience down.

I’ve been here 3 times since moving to the area — the first two times were great, this last one, not so much. The first visit I had the steak sub with fries which were awesome. My only complaint would be they gave me way too many fries, more than two people would likely eat. Second visit was the grilled chicken was also very good. Today I went back for the chicken again and was so disappointed. The chicken was not very hot, there was not very much of it and there was so much mayo I could hardly taste anything else. Hopefully this last time was a fluke because the chicken was so good last time. We shall see.

Save your money and drive to Jimmy Johns where you get both better taste and fresher bread. Heck, even scrubway is better than this place.

Although this is now a franchise; I recall my youth munching down numerous portions of these tasty sandwiches at the original Boardman location way back in it’s 1st days — when eating a whole sandwich wasn’t a crime with someone’s physician. Things have changed besides my waist dimensions; we got one in Poland to save a drive, price for a # 7 used to be under $ 3.00 ;in ’74; still REMAIN tasty at today s price. Only thing not changing is figuring which to order.
