Quiet and clean café with good ground coffee, the turkey pesto sandwich and vegetarian chilli soup is just lovelyfor my taste, my other half had the bagel with omelette, salmon and Avocado. We didn’t expect much when we first walked in but left the premises happy and bookmarked this place as one of the cafes that we would definitely visit again soon

This is the quietest of the shops in the Ypsi coffee house scene. The space is pretty big, with couches in the back and tables up front. I come here when I need to get offline(They direct you to the Ypsi public wifi, which is incredibly slow) and write in peace. But, the space lends its self really well to hanging out with friends in a chill space. They have a great coffee selection but more importantly they have ice cream. The selection is ~8 flavors, and it’s high quality stuff.

This shop really makes me want to get low. From the windows, to the walls.

Love this place! They were the first coffeehouse I tried after moving here in 2013, and the staff made me feel instantly at home. I come here almost every payday to treat myself and I’ve never had a bad experience. I especially love the lobster bisque, the lavender lemonade, and the Spanish latte. They’ll make you an Italian cream soda if you ask, too!(Italian soda plus half-and-half – no one seems to make these anymore, and they’re so good.)

The coffee is among the best I have had. The staff has always gone out of their way to be nice and there are plenty of couches. As one would expect, there are lots of pictures of bombers on the wall but there is also some naked brick which gives the place a slight old timy vibe. I had a BLT and it was good value for money. The wheat bread was fluffy, came in moderately thick slices and was just about the best tasting wheat bread I have had in this country.

Nice, clean, and relatively comfortable and inviting. I went to get a sandwich and milkshake for lunch. I got the Turkey with pesto because they didn’t have any corned beef for the Reuben. The sandwich was just ok. It was tasty but no more so than if I went home and made my own. Which is my main point. I expected that I would get something a bit special. However, what I got was turkey lunch meat like you’d get in the prepackaged section of the grocery, on a decent wheat bread, with romaine lettuce, Swiss cheese and mayo pesto. I can easily make this exact sandwich at home. It came with a pickle spear that looked and tasted like a Vlasic. I also got an expresso shake with chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream. That was pretty good and a good price. I prefer my shakes thicker but those cost about $ 2 more. This is a very limited experience and sandwiches are probably not really in their wheelhouse. But with a little thought and effort I think they could elevate them to outstanding. I have 3 suggestions. 1) make your own deli pickles. They store forever, and add a nice touch. 2) use better meats like turkey breast(or better yet, dark meat if you can get it). And 3) have cherry peppers to add on your sandwiches. Again, you can easily make this yourself by pickling these a bit with apple cider and a little spice. This too stores forever and adds a nice touch.

The ambiance is okay. My six dollar tuna sandwich was disappointing. The tuna was dry and tasteless. I tried some of it separately and the result was the same. It had a lot of some unidentifiable extremely small-chopped green stuff in it. The whole wheat bread had no density. I do wish them well as a downtown business and may have better luck ordering something else.

Love this coffee shop! I usually order a latte, but my friends have been very happy with the other drinks they’ve ordered. Staff are friendly and helpful – some might seem a little gruff but they warm up if you don’t get put off. The sweets always look delicious, and there’s a good selection of food for lunch or a substantial snack. The place is clean and comfy with couches and plenty of tables.

This place is just great! The staff is amazingly friendly, the environment is ver comfortable. Parking is easy and the food is get. If you are looking to get some work done in place where you can escape for a little while, this would be a great option.

This is the only coffee shop that I know of in walking distance from the EMU College of business where I am a student, so I go here pretty often. I have always thought the service could be much, much more friendly but it seems to be getting better, maybe because they recognize me now. I like that they have almond and soy milk options! They also have pretty decent baked goods. Overall I wouldn’t call it extraordinary, the Ugly Mug is definitely my first choice over this, but not bad either.

Still the best shop in Ypsilanti. Cool people, great bakery and pretty incredible sandwiches.

very good coffee, great house-made soups and sandwiches, and friendly service. but be warned — this is Southeast Michigan’s COLDEST coffee shop. seriously, i highly recommend B-24’s. it’s a good spot to spend a few hours working or studying, but i’m not kidding — if you’re planning on spending any more than a few minutes in here, bring a sweatshirt. for whatever reason, be it summer or winter, they keep this place chilly cold. that is all! grab a sweater and a wool hat and get your butt to B-24’s for some great coffee.

A very comfortable, relaxed place. I’ve gone only when it wasn’t busy, so I can’t comment on the service when under pressure, but I love the comfy couches and inviting, homey atmosphere. More to the point, the coffee is unbeatable. In particular, the decaf they serve beats nearly any cup of *regular* from other coffee shops. This is just what downtown Ypsi needs.

I am just now exploring places outside of the Ugly Mug in Ypsi, and I like B-24’s a lot more! The location is pretty great, right on the little main downtown area. Coffee is fantastic — the Rich French Neighbor pourover is as good as anything I’ve had at Ugly Mug. The service is really good — waitress will bring drinks and food to your table. Speaking of food, the smoked salmon bagel is really yummy, and doesn’t break the bank at $ 4.75(really good price for as much salmon as there is). Best tips are to come during slower times(so I’ve gathered from the other reviews, and before noon on Sunday seems as slow as any other time) and to tip your barista. I’ll be coming back!

It’s a bit like hanging out at a pal’s house who happens to have a good selection of coffee. Service is casual and good natured, if occasionally a bit scattered. They serve Chazzano coffee, which is yummy. I also enjoy the sandwich I’ve gotten numerous times– a wrap or bagel with avocado and veggies. Coffee is priced at the high end of my comfort zone, but the sandwiches are quite reasonable. I really want this place to succeed because I love having a neighborhood coffee hangout and this one is cozy and sweet. I feel like they haven’t quite found their niche, somehow, but one bonus is that seating near an outlet is never a problem. I wish that ingredient lists were available for the baked goods, soups, etc. I’m not alone… the food allergy /restricted diet population is only getting bigger. Or at least make sure the staff is knowledgable about the food. I don’t find it encouraging when people selling me food don’t know what’s in it or where it came from!

I was looking to go somewhere new for a leisurely Sunday morning coffee… I had driven past this place many times and decided to give it a try. I was disappointed. The staff was not very friendly nor very helpful. When I asked for my coffee in a mug I was told they didn’t have one clean. No offer to clean one. I stayed there for about an hour and they didn’t run the hobart once. Additionally, when I asked about the wifi password I was told there wasn’t one(simple enough) but he didn’t inform me of the network name. It turned out to be the free Ypsi wifi service which I figured out easily enough but I still think that’s crappy customer service. As for the coffee? I was super jazzed to see they do a nice café con leche with sweetened condensed milk. As I watched the barista make my drink I noticed he had a hard time getting the milk out of the squeeze bottle. He eventually stopped trying and when his co-worker asked if it was enough the barista making my drink just shrugged and said«I guess.» It made me feel like he couldn’t even be bothered to properly make my drink. I try to pick my battles so I didn’t say anything at the time. Instead, in the future I take my business elsewhere.

They are great. The only real issue here is when they are short handed. They make a quality cup of coffee. Seriously. Add the fact that there is ice cream there? Yes. Family friendly option for my daughter to have a scoop of her favorite superman ice cream while my husband, son, and I have a cup of liquid heaven. We were there this past Saturday afternoon, and greeted by the gent we usually see at the Whittaker library location(note…yes, we go there, see? :) He was alone… on a weekend. A group of three ladies came in after us, and placed their order. Another woman came in after them, and he stated it would be at least 10 minutes because he was a bit behind. This is not downing the place. They make it fresh, and good,. Just know there’s a possibility it might take longer than it might take at your local chain. The food is excellent, the coffee and ice cream are top notch. There’s free wi-fi, as the rest of Downtown Ypsi has. It is a great little café. Just don’t be in a rush when you come here.

I love planes. My grandfather built them from scratch, by hand. He carved the propellers out of wood and pieced together the engine parts. Yea, they flew. A lot. It was his greatest love. I’m not as familiar with American planes and war machines. But hey, reviews about B-24 were raving and I needed a shot of espresso poured over some Guernsey ice cream(everywhere else was closed). Barrista both times was really friendly and efficient. He’s about two composed clothing articles and one tattoo short of ‘hipster.’ The music follows in suit, mostly drawing on ‘80s favorites and pop-indie music from a couple years back. Fun for humming along knowingly, but you won’t discover anything new. Speaking of which, this place in general isn’t a ‘learning experience’ — from the music to the drinks to the interior design, it’s just kind of average. Accessible. But it has some couches which are comfy. Feels kind of like a chain, though. The coffee is ok. The shots are pulled also just average. A little on the acidic side without that nice creamy foam layer on top. Luckily I poured mine over ice cream and voila. Problem solved. Sitting down here for a bit is fine. But I can’t see it becoming a home.

Very friendly and some slightly different things to eat. Coffee is mighty tasty too. Definitely worth a whirl. I am a fan of the sweet potato chicken chowder here. I can’t say I have ever heard of it but now I definitely want a recipe. Heck who am I kidding? We all know I can’t cook. Luckily for me they seem to feature this soup regularly so I can just swing by and grab some tastiness. The lobster bisque and chicken noodle work too :). The sandwiches are quite good too, so far I have stuck with croissants and wraps. I haven’t had anything that was not pleasant. Super fresh and made to order which I enjoy. The smoked salmon bagel at breakfast worked as well as a smoked salmon lunch sandwich with cream cheese, avocado and assorted garden-y items. I quite liked the spicy tuna too, both cold and as a melt. Even a boring turkey sandwich was jazzed up with pesto mayo and spinach. I like items like this, with just a slight spin. The little things can make me much happier about a staple item. Besides here you can create your own sandwich(which I did with my lunch salmon deal) and make it just how you prefer, this is happiness. I rarely get coffee but I have gotten it twice now here and both times it has been tasty. I have sampled both a regular ol’ cup of joe and a latte, so I think all the coffee must be nice. The baked goods here look mighty tempting but so far I have been good and avoided the evilness. It does make it tougher to resist when it is so in your face though. Sigh. This is a longer walk for me so I will not be as frequent a visitor as I am at my usual haunt. It is worth any extra steps though when I do venture out to visit this nice little place. I am a fan.

I like this place… I really REALLY like this place… ok, maybe I LOVE this place! From the moment I walked in I was in love with the space and the couches and other seating options. I was promptly greeted in a MOST friendly manner and immediately felt at home. Then, as I walked closer to the register to order, my eyes were totally distracted by all of the deliciousness on display: ice cream, brownies, apple pie, muffins, scones, croissants, rice krispie treats, cookies, and even beautiful quiches. WOW, I was in heaven! Then I had to make my mind up… what did I want to eat? There were wonderful sandwiches to choose from and there was also the As-You-Like-It option where you choose your bread, meat, cheese, extras and add-ons(there is also a breakfast as-you-like-it option available in the mornings). They also had a wonderful lobster bisque soup. Almost everything is homemade there at the café(even all the wonderful pastry options listed above)! There were a few people in and out as we ate our lunch and they seem to have a steady stream throughout the day. Most people are alone working on their laptops, which I plan to come back and do myself. It is the perfect atmosphere for breakfast or lunch with a friend or for hunkering down to get some work done. The staff was AMAZINGLY friendly and helpful and more than willing to offer suggestions and answer questions. They played lovely old school jazz music the entire time I was there and I became smitten. I cannot wait to come back and enjoy this place over and over again. I really just don’t think it gets better than this!
