This place is s gem. The best burger joint in Ypsilanti. The burgers are well seasoned and a decent size. The prices are fair and the staff is friendly. I recommend everyone come try the burgers. They won’t disappoint you and it will leave you coming back. The only downfall is that they only accept cash. That’s disappointing because I don’t carry cash that often. But overall it’s yummy!

Honestly, the best burger in Ypsilanti. Sooooooooooooo dam Good! You really can’t afford to miss this Ypsilanti legend. Also, don’t forget the pulled pork barbecue with coleslaw on it.

Local favorite. They have the best burger in town. Quarter Cheese Squeeze is enough burger but for the bigger eaters the big cheese squeeze should do. Bar seating only. It makes for good convo if you are a outgoing person. Service as always been good.

Tried the 5 cheeseburger special with a Coke. While the service was wonderful, the food was ehhhh. The burger patties were thin and crusty. I was expecting a little more bang for my buck($ 7.50 for 5 sliders). For a quick to-go lunch grab in a time crunch, I’d recommend. Otherwise, check out other classic places Michigan Ave has to offer.

This place is what I would picture them greasy spoon type restaurants my grandma would tell me about when I was a youth. Solid burgers and even more amazing chili cheese fries. Cash only and some of the people who walk outside look pretty shady, so yeah, eat inside and not in your car, even though the food smells and tastes so good.

One of my favorite burger joints in all of Washtenaw County. It’s kind of like a nice small place to get tasty food with a nice big glass view of the outside world. If you want to pull up in the parking lot and not get out of your car, they will come and take your order from the car and bring it back out to you. My favorite waitress Kelly was my main reason for going there. Don’t see her there as much anymore so I’m not there as often. But would definitely recommend it for anyone that has never been. Only reason they don’t get 5 stars is there a cash only business.

Ate there today for lunch today with no complaints! Always good service the only drawback is the only accept cash… Great food! Yes I would recommend.

The Big Cheese Squeeze is my classic go to choice! The bun and burger are lightly crispy around the edges, which make it SO tasty. Their potato wedges and curly fries are the bomb jam, and their prices are fair as well. I’ve seen people on here say that the burgers are greasy, but I highly disagree. Dinner for two is about $ 12 for a burger and some fries. Classic little restaurant that you need to try.

This is a greasy spoon type of diner, with a very small menu of select items, and a very cozy and small dining area. I would recommend visiting on an off-time, or you might not find a seat. The food is cheap and yummy, definitely worth the price, but pretty much what you would expect from this type of burger joint. They are CASHONLY, which is good to know before-hand! We went there without knowing this, but luckily we had $ 11 between the two of us, and the food was cheap enough that we were both able to eat on that amount.

One counter, one waitress, 14 metal swivel stools, and the best cheeseburgers and curly fries around. The burgers are pretty greasy, but the toppings are fresh — and there’s something about the way everything melds together(toppings, cheese, mayo, burger, fresh soft bun) that makes the burger so much more than the sum of its parts. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are so right.(Dinner for two for $ 12!) Plus there’s curbside service if you’d rather eat in your car. But I don’t know why you would; the waitresses are friendly, sweet and fun to chat with. Only thing that would make this place five stars for me would be if they also offered shakes and malts, because these burgers(and the throw-back vibe) pretty much demand a frosty shake on the side. My favorite spot in Ypsi. (Don’t forget: *CASHONLY!*)

To compare this place to a Five Guys type place is just wrong. Not in the same league. This is a great local place right out of the fifties. When family comes to town for the holidays Roy’s Squeezy(as they call it) is on the menu. Delicious greasy burgers. Yes the paper has grease all over it. The burger patties look just like when you make them at home, very uneven. Sitting at the counter as you wait on your order is an experience in and of itself. Locals sit around engaging in conversation with the staff. The fries are a must as well. Don’t go here too frequently as your arteries would certainly clog up. But for an occasional treat, it’s the best!

Best. Burger. In. Town. Period. The Big Squeeze with Cheese is all you need to put you into a yummy fuzzy food coma and escape from all the world’s problems. Much bigger, better and cheaper than these(laughably) «gourmet» burger chains that have been popping up. Very cool building, very polite staff, burgers are made fresh and it’s a drive-up.

Went here last week with my dad. He grew up in the area, and had been to Roy’s many times in the past. For a burger joint, it wasn’t the best I’ve been to. Sure, the prices were cheaper than most places, but the number of options to place on your burger was quite limited. When we were there, they were out of mushrooms, so the option list was even shorter! If you’ve been to Five Guys, Blimpies, or even Bagger Dave’s, this place doesn’t even compete. As far as dive places go, this is just fine for those of you who wish to spend less than $ 10 per person and leave full. 3 stars overall. Food was 4 stars. Building was 2 stars. Service was 3 stars.

We were on our way home last night to Detroit when we passed Roy’s. In a last-minute decision I turned in and we decided to try it. We quickly Unilocaled in the parking lot and read a few«best burger evar» reviews, but I was still dubious. The place looks like it’s right out of 1955, which is kind of awesome. It smells like a grease pit. Mmm. I definitely smelled like a giant burger when we left. We wanted something small-ish so both got ¼ lb cheeseburgers and shared a small order of potato wedges. The burgers came out quickly and looked pretty awesome – almost Blimpy-like, if I had to pinpoint the«look.» They tasted just as good. Greasy, delicious, but with a bit too much salt. If I had one complaint it would be the seasoning. I think oregano is used, and that’s a little weird to me, and not really in a good way. However, the greasy goodness outweighed that. Potato wedges were really hot and yummy, if I go again I’d try the curly fries. The waitress(or server, there’s just a counter, no tables), was being a little unprofessional and talking to guys the whole time we were there. That annoyed me a little bit, but it was almost closing time and it’s not a fancy joint, so there ya go. I’d definitely come back for a bite, I wish it were closer to downtown. It’d be great after-drinking food.

Roy’s was not exactly what I was expecting in terms of lunch on the day I went but what a treat it was! I had been planning on doing something perhaps a little fancier and yet we ended up at this little circular stand off Michigan Avenue. From the outside it looks almost abandoned based on the lack of cars surrounding it. Inside, however, is a great burger joint with an awesome circular counter, and tasty ass burgers. I ordered the ¼ cheese squeeze and really enjoyed it. The burger is slider-esque in that it’s pretty thin and not a uniform patty. It’s pretty peppery but the cheese and the toppings do tone it down. I’m usually a meat, cheese, ketchup and mustard kinda gal but this squeeze comes with lettuce, tomato, and mayo as well and it was great. It had been a while since I’d had a burger with all those toppings and I forgot how good it can be. Also had a side of curly fries which were quite fab. But how can you go wrong with curly fries? They were fresh out of the frier and a little too hot to eat right away so I had to painfully wait a few minutes before I got to enjoy those crispy little suckers. I also tried the fried mushrooms which were deep fried goodness. Add a rootbeer and you’ve got a fantastic, cheap meal. It may not be fancy but it’s damn good. Cash only and they also will take your order and deliver to your car. No rollerskates, tho.

Roy’s Squeeze Inn, started out as the«Donut Kitchen» on US-112 in the Post-War era of the late 1940s. This Michigan Avenue establishment was famous for its home made doughnuts that were some of the best I ever tasted. Likewise, it was a popular hangout for the Michigan State Troopers, from the Ypsilanti Post. You could always count on seeing the familiar«Blue Goose» patrol cruisers parked by the building every morning. Sadly, the owner of Donut Kitchen died several years ago, and the business was placed by family on the market. Thankfully, the building wasn’t razed, as it would have been a shame to loose this piece of Americana. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Roy’s to move from their old location on Michigan Avenue by M-17, down to the old Donut Kitchen. If you’re tired of dry burgers that taste like sawdust, then eating a burger from Roy’s will end your drought in a hurry. The burgers from this place as juicy as they come, complete with FEMA Flood Insurance papers to prove it. These are some of the best I have ever had, and I highly recommend Roy’s to anyone who is tired of run-of-the-mill fast food places.

Roy’s is small diner that, in my opinion, hands-down, is the best place for burgers in Ypsi. Ranging from slider-sized to half-pound, Roy’s burgers are simply amazing. I prefer the mini squeeze, but its larger counterparts are pretty good too. Each burger is grilled fresh, served steaming hot and juicy, and topped with anything you want on it; I order mine with pickles and grilled onions, but to each his own. Offering up mouthgasms galore, Roy’s menu also features dogs, chicken sandwiches, and a healthy amount of sides ranging from wedges to deep-fried mushrooms. If you’re looking for the perfect meal that consists of nothing but fried or grilled food, Roy’s Squeeze Inn is the place for you.

Not much too look at, in fact if you blink you’ll miss it, and the ares is pretty rough looking. The name is VERY appropriate because you can only seat about 15 people at a time. It quite a dive, but all that aside, the burgers are VERY good! I had a cheese squeeze, ½ pound of quality ground meat cooked to perfection with lettuce & tomato on a sesame seed bun. Melt in your mouth goodness I say! I had curly fries(average) and a drink too. All in all a very good lunch in my pursuit of burger perfection. Put this one on your list, but bring your piggy bank because they accept cash only One of the reasons they only get 3 stars)!

Roy’s is an experience indeed. Entertainment and food. We dined in last night. I would call the atmosphere rustic, my husband calls it filthy. I don’t think the counter area where we were had been washed since start of day. It rolled off my back but my husband was grossed out a bit. The girl running the place up front was a hoot. Definitely the take no guff type. The clintele demands this sort of girl as someone called in at some point whose order was screwed up slightly(he had asked for light onion and felt he did not get the appropriate onion level) and he threatened to come down and kick her ass because of it. Granted her attitude bordered on so what but c’mon she looked about 17 and like she weighed 95 pounds soaking wet. She boldly stated bring it and rolled her eyes after she hung up. The clintele who weren’t threatening her seemed to be hitting on her instead. She took it all in stride and it made for a night of quality entertainment. The food is old school. The ½ lb. big squeeze with cheese burgers are cooked up so they are an odd combo of little crunchy edges and juicy middle, delicious really but different. Hand formed for sure and cooked on a griddle that has probably cooked burgers for longer than I have been eating them. They practically fall apart as you munch. They are dressed with mayo, diced onion, shredded lettuce and a tomato slice. I added ketchup and mustard from the squeeze bottles and liked the end result a lot. The wedges are excellent, not too wide a cut but crisp with a good potato middle. Yum, perfection. My husband hogged them so next time we will get the larger side to split. The off brand ketchup sucks but the wedges are happiness. The onion rings are standard but still crunchy and tasty. Fountain Coke products which were fine(James obviously prefers Pepsi though), no offer of refill so there probably are none. Our whole bill was 17 bucks. It worked. ***CASHONLY***

What more can I say. Just excellent ½ pound burgers at a great price. Don’t let other review fool you. This is the best burger in Ypsilanti, hands down. The kids liked the 5 sliders for $ 5, good fries and fantastic onion rings. We had take out but I definitely want to eat there at the counter to experience the full effect of Roy’s. Highly recommended.
