Leave Ann Arbor for breakfast! Street parking is free, after all, and there was no wait on a Saturday morning. We both got the Guatemalan breakfast, and what a treat! Mind you, there are a lot of questionable things I might do for sweet fried plantains when the cameras are off, but it was the whole combination of this plate that worked for me. It’s simple but delicious. Comes with eggs how you like them with a little tomato salsa on top, plantains, black bean paste(this is better than it sounds and definitely better than it looks), some kind of rich yummy crema, and a couple of pieces of cheese(like queso fresco). And the pièce de résistance…fresh, homestyle tortillas, made when you order. Holy crap. And by that I mean holy thick, soft, and textured tortillas served hot. Try dipping it in the crema. My partner in crime has also been for lunch and says the pupusas are good and the serving portion hearty(she had leftovers the next day). Service was very friendly as well. I’ll be back for a different meal to try some of the other offerings and will try to remember to post an update.

Amazing, flavorful tortilla de harina dish, stuffed with beef and pickled cabbage. SO. GOOD. Divinely flavorful – made me wish I had a bigger stomach! Excellent coffee, by the way. The waitperson was very attentive and nice, and the owner came out to check if we liked his food? Are you kidding?! We LOVED it! Definitely coming back soon to try other goodies on the menu! Amazingly cheap too!

Crispy chicken tacos taste great the first time not as good when I ordered them again the next day. I’m sure the Guatemalan breakfast does taste great to some I just didn’t really care for it but again that’s just me I would say go ahead give it a try see what you think you know I can be totally bummed

The Wolverine Grill is gone and Encuentro Latino took its place. Big improvement! Delicious breakfast served all day. The Guatemalan breakfast with house-made tortillas is incredible. Service was also very nice and with just the right amount of attentiveness.

The menu was a little smaller than I expected, so I’m hoping to see some new things pop up as they succeed. We came in on a Saturday evening, and at first were the only ones in the place. Everyone in the restaurant was so sweet and attentive. Ordered up some guac and chips which were fresh and tasty, and then ordered pork pupusas. They were good, but needed something. A spice or a kick to them. It was a huge portion. My dining companion ordered a burrito, which looked to be perfectly wrapped and was quite large. He liked it. No alcohol in this place, but they have orange soda. A bonus. I’ll pop in next time I’m at the Rocket and see what they’ve added. Breakfast looked to be a much larger menu.

My wife, a couple of friends and I ate dinner here yesterday. Really enjoyed the food. I had the whole fried fish and the rest of our group had a Guatamalan beef dish. We all REALLY enjoyed our meals. Do NOT miss the made-from-scratch tortillas. Most of the meals are Guatamalan, but they do have some«Americano» meals as well as a kids menu. Don’t skip their special«sweet drinks». The tres-leches cake for dessert was heavenly. Plenty for two. The service was super-friendly. They couldn’t have done more to make sure that we were happy and cared for. Prices are ridiculously cheap. I had the most expensive item on the menu(the fish) and it was $ 10.95! Note: They do not sell beer or wine. We’ll be back to try more of their dishes!

Been here once. The replacement for the wolverine grille looks like a promising alternative. There is very little to suggest the change from the wolverine, as the signage is still up outside. But inside, the staff was trying hard. There are a number of Guatemalan dishes in the menu and some comfort food staples I assume for those who didn’t realize it was not the wolverine grille anymore. Tried the Guatemalan breakfast which was a combination of eggs, black beans, cheese and cream, etc. I’d like this group thrive and I encourage those of you who have been to give them a try, I think it’s a family fun business with some extras. I think they’re learning the diner business as a trial by fire and I can see good intentions,

Adding a little variety to the Latin American fare available in the area with Guatemalan cuisine. Stews, pupusas, churrascos, and wonderful, thick homemade tortillas, all at an excellent price. The owner has come out to talk with me each time I’ve been there and is a enthusiastic guy who’s excited to be bringing his from-scratch fixings to Ypsilanti.
