Amongst a vast array of great wineries, Maison de Padgett presents a dud. The tasting experience was less than stellar; the wine, uninspiring. Fast forward a few months — after opening a few bottles graciously purchased at our tasting, and pouring the undrinkable(but not corked) contents down the drain, I felt compelled to leave my first 1-star vineyard review(with regret, I must mention).

We just love this place and the owners and family. Each time we visit they are great. This location does gatherings and weddings. Great to just relax and great wines. Always love coming here year after year.

The gardens… WOW! The tasting room… WOW! This is the same owner and wine maker as Horizon’s Edge. The wines are different. I like the the wines better than Horizon’s Edge. The port was outstanding.

Maison de Padgett is a great place to visit while in WA Wine Country! We were here during the Red Wine & Chocolate Weekend. It was $ 3 for tasting, but you got to taste all 13 of their wines, instead of the usual ‘choose 5′ thing. And the names and labels of the wines are so fun! The«Unzipped» white pinot noir was interesting and we bought a bottle of that. The«Cash Cow» is a great value — $ 16.95 for a magnum. It makes a great table wine. We also loved the ports! Peach, Vanilla, and Coffee flavored. mmmmm I wish we could have bought all 3! but we decided on the«Pillow Talk» vanilla. The grounds are beautiful and looks like they’d be a great place to hold a small event.

This is the first winery we stopped at on our wine tasting day. The grounds are beautiful; lots of space, flowers and decorations. The wines are on the sweet side. My favorite that I have never seen anywhere before was a white Pinot Noir. The wine labels and names are very fun; the pinot noir is called Unzipped. For 4 of us it cost $ 12 for tasting. They do have a punch card for every bottle you buy you get your 13th bottle free. You also get to enjoy free wine tasting. This punch card works at Maison de Padgett and Horizon’s Edge; and it never expires.

One of my favorite places to wine taste in Zillah(Yakima County) WA. Beautiful grounds, fun relaxed tasting room. They also are the same winemaker as Horizon’s Edge(which I also enjoy). I like their fun Ports(i.e. coffee, peach, chocolate, raspberry…) the most at both locations. If you buy a case they usually give you any 1 bottle you woudl like(in addition) for free :)

It’s true, they have a lot of sweet wines, but if you’re looking for sweet wines, they have good ones! They have unsweet wines too though, and I thought they were good. The grounds our beautiful and the people running the place were really nice and spent a lot of time talking to us. $ 2 for 12 wines is not bad — if you have a problem with that then don’t go to Silverlake who charges 5−10…for 5.

The grounds are beautiful. The tasting room was beautiful. The wines… well the labels are cool. I was a little put off that they charged for tastings when other wineries didn’t. It was okay because it was minimal. The lady pouring our wines was okay, not too friendly and really didn’t seem like she wanted to answer any questions. They have very sweet wines. We walked out with a rose. Prices aren’t too bad on the wines.

The grounds are beautiful, but I felt like I was on a tour of sickly sweet dessert wines. It is true they taste a lot of wines for a small fee, but probably 65% of them are dessert wines. And…tell me this… have you ever heard this at a serious winery? «I love to mix the chocolate and coffee ports… it is like a mocha!» Yech. The«regular» wines were kind of blah also.

The gardens at Maison De Padgett are beautiful. Lush foliage, beautiful flowers and trees… and huge back yard, perfect for weddings, which take place here quite often during the summer. Unfortunately for me, that’s where the excitement at this little winery ends. The tasting room is located in the open space right as you walk in. We were greeted by a nice, sweet older woman who proceeded to offer us the tasting which was priced at $ 2. Since there were lots and lots of wines,(about 12 or so in the tasting) I thought this was appropriate. The problems came with the tasting. Almost all of the wines for me were just ‘meh’. After visiting Two Mountains, I was expecting more from this neighboring winery. The rose and the peach dessert wines were both fine, but everything else was rather blah. It was also about 79 degrees in the tasting room, which I think most would agree was a tad warm for a tasting. Apparently, this winery likes to change up their wines and vintages each year. I’ve had their wine in the past and I thought that the Fat Sow Merlot was pretty tasty. They switched it up this year and I didn’t think it was as good. At any rate, I definitely think that all these Washington wineries deserve a visit. I will admit that I know less about wine than some, but my aficionado counterparts agreed with me on the tastings here. This winery has won several awards in the past for their vintages, and while I would love to give them lots and lots of stars for being nice, local, and all that good stuff… I just wasn’t that impressed with the wine.
