Great drinks, delicious food and wonderful service. Bring the kids and while you enjoy a drink and the sunset they can play in the sand on the beach 20ft from you. Amazing

What’s not to love about this bar? It is on the beach, in paradise, and serves up delicious Pain Killers along with a bunch of other drinks. It might not be fancy, but who needs fancy when you can literally sit on the beach with a drink in hand? It is a beach party bar so it can be a little loud, but nothing you wouldn’t expect from any other bar.

Does not get much better in St John than the Beach Bar. We have been coming here for 15+ years, and the Beach Bar is always one of our favorite stops. The location is great, and the bartenders are always friendly.

We stopped here a few times for the drinks and location. Friendly staff and nice pours on island drinks — with the longest happy hour on the island — perfect. We didn’t eat here, but the food I saw going out to the tables looked good. they seem to have live music just about every day. This place is worth a few stops while your on the island, even if you only stay for a drink or four.

This place seems to be the spot at night! There’s always a live band here every night that plays good music and the bartenders are super nice and friendly. The drinks are solid and not bad. This joint is right on the beach so you can see boats that are docked there. You can also sit by the bar, on the beach or even lay out a towel to sun bath. I ordered fish & chips, cheese burger empanadas, and spinach melt sandwich. My favorite was the fish and chips. It tasted super fresh and the batter was crispy just the way I like it. But I can’t say the same for the rest of the food I ordered. I just didn’t like it at all. In fact, I just took a bite and gave it to hubby(he can eat anything good or bad). Overall, I think this is a mediocre place to hangout and chill. Just try their drinks and fish & chips!

In the hierarchy of places you aren’t allowed to be angry, beach bars land just behind swim-up bars up near the top of the list. Because they have alcohol, and chairs on the sand where you can go drink it. When you have these things, that means life is good. This Beach Bar isn’t winning any creativity awards for its name, but it does have great live music, rum punch that is only a little too sweet, cold beer, and what looked like great food(I’ve still yet to eat here). If masochism is your thing, they operate a Beach Bar Cam online that you can check out when you’re at home in your sad, non-island home. You know, so you can see all the carefree fun everyone else is having as you slave away at your miserable job until you can afford to take another trip to St. John. As far as I can tell, the only real drawback here is the fact that it smells GODAWFUL. We walked by here many times, day and night, and there is always some combination of rotting garbage and old, over-fermented alcohol that is eerily reminiscent of Bourbon Street. Clean that up if you can, but I guess I’m probably coming back even if you don’t.

This place is a definite favorite for my family and myself! We like to come here after dinner for a couple drinks and some live music. It is always fabulous! Their food here is also great. I just ate a blackened mahi mahi sandwich with pasta salad. The tartar sauce they give you is truly amazing, as well. I highly recommend this sandwich. Such a great atmosphere and great people! I will miss this place when I leave tomorrow, but look forward to coming back!

I’m pretty sure that anyone who’s been to Cruz Bay stops here. It’s a must, right off the people ferry. There’s not much to say that hasn’t been said but this place is amazing, my sisters and I love watching the webcam when it’s cold and rainy in NYC. My dad loves the painkillers of course. My little sister always got the lime and a coconut(I think was the name?) frozen drink which I even liked and I’m not particularly fond of sweet things. This place was always a great meeting place, or beginning-ending spot.

Any night in Cruz Bay that doesn’t involve at least 1 drink at The Beach Bar is a night that wasn’t maximized. My 50th birthday was spent in the company of friends young, old, longhand and new. Cornhole, Painkillers and the warm waters of Cruz Bay equal island perfection. Walk, don’t run(it IS the islands), to this legendary beachside hotspot.

Great atmosphere! You can’t beat a local bar on the beach with the friendliest staff around. The painkillers and bushwackers are out of this world. Fish and chips are the best we’ve had in years. We were on St John for a week and stopped in several times. We’ll be back!

Shrimp and a painkiller – all you need to know!!! Go there! We liked this place so much that we went twice, All the food was excellent, but the fried shrimp got the most raves from everyone in our group. They will even put them on a salad, which at least keeps you from eating a bunch of fries along with them. Our group also drank a lot of bushwhackers and painkillers here – my personal fave were the painkillers, which went down sooooo easy! It was mid week and off season when we were there, but would love to go sometimes when there’s live music. This place is a MUST on St. John.

Stopped in to the Beach Bar while on a snorkel tour of St. John. It is true that the service was slow, this is the off season. There was a sign on our table to order at the bar, where there was a single bartender attending to the entire restaurant. T he drinks were delicious and we tried some local Caribbean beers and fun tropical drinks(pain killer and a BBC). The food was really pretty good, we all ordered something different and no one was disappointed with their meal. We tried burgers, fish n chips, fish tacos. What a great location and view. They have several tables shaded by the bar and others on the sand just feed from the water.

Good place for lunch and beverages. Stopped here our first day on St. John, and got a few burgers, some chicken tenders, and a bunch of adult beverages. The lime and the coconut drink? One of the best I had on the island, and I had one every time we were out. Limey and not too coconutty, perfection. Food was good, drinks good. No servers(taking your order), you have to order at the bar. At least for lunch.

Great casual place right on the sand in Cruz Bay! We enjoyed their house salad with the mango vinaigrette — yum as well as the daily special Coconut Shrimp with a chutney — so dang good! It can get crowded but just go down and hang on the sand and play some bags, plenty of space on the beach to be had.

Well, we’ve been every day of our vacation, so clearly we love this place! Who doesn’t love a bar that you can put your toes in the sand? Try the tuna down if you like sushi– super good.

I’m sure somewhere in the storied history books of this here bar there are legendary tales of bastard people. There just have to be, it’s such an easy spot to get hammered. They have all the angles covered: good looking locals getting their drank on at the counter, efficient bartenders who don’t appear to care much about cutting anyone off, booths of foreigners acting the fool after 8pm, access to the beach and the ocean, and the entire ordeal is outdoors. I can picture Frank, you know, the guy from the Christmas party last year who totally hit on Kim in the kitchen, having more than a few Mai Tais and deciding, at the stroke of midnight, to do the backstroke in his socks. You’ll get what you expect at the Beach Bar, maybe a little more, not much less. Bar food with a decent selection of seafood, but no specialties of the house, really; I thought the breaded buffalo shrimp(mimicking buffalo wings, you understand) was… it was indeed shrimp. Most of the sandwiches were tasty, but no one from our party of fifteen were raving. We sat out on the beach and that meant, under law, that we had to order drinks ourselves at the bar and carry them to our table, and I’m not complaining about this, it made the whole experience a little more interesting and obviously provided me with the Frank narrative. It does seem a tad hilarious, however, that in a town that literally has no worries about public displays of drunkards, that the Beach Bar enforce a local rule about booze service on the beach. Thankfully, they serve drinks in plastic cups, too.

The Beach Bar was an every day stop during our trip in November. It was close to our resort and offered lunch, dinner and drinks all day long. The live bands were always a plus. Friendly service, lots of delicious drinks and hello– right on the beach! Provides a view for some of the best sunsets!

With fantastic drinks, a better view and some of the best«bar food» to be had, the Beach Bar is just that, thee authentic beach bar of Cruz Bay and one of my St John staples. I have been coming here since I had to order the piña coladas sans the rum, but over the years it has never stopped being the authentic place to come for drinks with a view. Obviously everything in Cruz Bay is patroned by tourists but you get the least amount of tourists and the most local feel of the places on Cruz Bay Beach here at the Beach Bar. The fish tacos are my favorite meal and the drinks… I couldn’t pick a favorite.

After a day of beaching it up at Trunk Bay, we stopped back in town and discovered the Beach Bar on our happy hour bar crawl. This is by far the best beach bar we went to while in St. John. So good that we stopped back the next day again to eat the fish tacos again and have a drink before boarding our ferry to St. Thomas. So what’s so great? The bartenders, food, drink, and people. Bartenders & Drinks: Super nice and they made excellent drinks. I also overheard a conversation where the manager was saying he tries to take 2 – 3 months off a year and also organizes the staff’s schedule so they can also take at least a month off. Pretty awesome lifestyle. As for drinks, we tried a number of them and they were all good. Definitely come during happy hour for some good deals. The Pina coladas, BBC, painkillers were all favorites of ours. Food: FISHTACOS! Delicious. So good that we came back the next day to eat them again. The fries we had were also great and they have a seared tuna dish(name I can’t remember) that was very good as well. The grilled chicken BLT was just okay though and not worth getting compared to the others. People: Both times we were here we met friendly folks chillin on the beach and struck up some interesting conversations. Particularly with a local lady that was refurbishing her own sailboat and had rebuilt 80+% of the boat. She also had a cute dog we played with.
