XO Bistro

XO is the best spot for brunch on island. They only have breakfast /​brunch on Saturday and Sunday, but it’s excellent. I’ve tried 3 of their breakfast entrees and they were all fabulous! I recommend the pancake lasagna. The combination of sweet and salty, with crunch and soft pancakes is very well done. They also have a bottomless Bloody Mary’s & Mimosas for only $ 20. Which is a really great deal because their Bloody Mary’s are all very gourmet and have wonderful garnishes. I recommend the caprese.

Great place to dine in Red Hook. Our server was fantastic and knowledgeable. The shrimpcargo appetizer was awesome. Other lunch entrees included Lasagna sandwich, beef sandwich in our party. I thoroughly enjoyed the Spicy Thai salad, the dressing was sweet and spicy.

If you are in red Hook you really need to go here at least once. If you want dinner make reservations otherwise you’re probably SOL. It’s a smaller so be prepared for a busy spot. This is not an island restaurant. I totally forgot I was in the Caribbean! It has a good feel to it without trying too hard. It’s rustic but trendy. They make it intimate but still have a nice bar and TVs too. **NOTABLE info here. They make their own alcohol! Ok ok. They infuse their own alcohol. My husband had Black Cherry Burbon. It was good. I had a blueberry Lemon Margarita. YES. It was delicious! They also concoct their own Bacon infused vodka! From what I hear, it makes a mean Bloody Mary. Our food was well presented and tasted good. Prices were comparable to elsewhere if not a few bucks more. Their bread was delicious! Over all we had a great experience.

I wanted to like this place based on reviews but we didn’t make it past the hostess. They were only open at 6 so I’m not sure how at 6:05 the bar was full with very wasted groups of people. The hostess ignored us and went off to do some random things. Came back and said hold on with no hello or greeting. Mind you I’m standing w a very small baby in arms. Anyway another 5 minutes of standing around being ignored we left. Some of the worst customer service so far on the island. Oh and based on previous reviews I was worried I might be underdressed… I would say this place is just a tad above dive bar standards so I wouldn’t worry about that.

I started to doubt my restaurant choice when we approached the trendy entrance at XO Bistro. The dimmed lighting, loud music and neon blue entrance made me feel like I was at a nightclub. To my relief, the hostess sat our party of eight outside. Our table outside overlooked the marina and was nice and quiet so we could have a conversation over dinner without yelling across the table at each other.
We started our meal with a meat and cheese board, the blackened tuna, and a grilled flatbread pizza with prosciutto. All of the appetizers were great, especially the tuna. Had we not just ordered the blackened tuna as an appetizer I probably would have ordered it as an entrée. I wanted to sample more of the menu so I ordered the Pork Ribeye instead. The pork was so tender and flavorful!
Prices are fairly reasonable considering the high quality of the food and presentation; most entrees are under $ 30. (You’ll find it is nearly impossible to have dinner for under $ 30 per person in St. Thomas.)
If you are looking for innovative and modern food in St. Thomas I recommend dining at XO Bistro.

We had dinner @ XO Bistro three times during our nine day stay in St Thomas, VI. Every time we had great service and amazing food! Sea scallops were superbly cooked! Lamb chops were delicious-​my wife tasted mine and liked it and she doesn’t usually like lamb. Blackened tuna app was perfect as well. Also tried several salads and desserts and all were delicious! Atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Make a reservation cause most nights it fills up fast! Definitely our favorite upscale restaurant we visited during our stay on St. Thomas VI

Both the sandwiches we ordered were delicious, served promptly, hot and crisp. Almost like a panini or a hot Cuban sandwich, on a miniature scale. Service was excellent, no hovering, but our server knew exactly when to check with us. Highly recommend.

We stopped in here for dinner one night on our vacation in May 2015. The dim lighting and blaring music immediately cast a trendy vibe, and we were fairly quickly ushered to a booth in the back.
Immediately, we were put off by the exceptionally loud parties around us – I realize the restaurant isn’t necessarily to blame for this, but both parties were heavily intoxicated. One seemed to be a birthday party of 8 – 10 people and the other was a trio of a woman and two men (one of whom repeatedly snapped flash photos of the woman’s chest – incredibly distracting). I’ve worked in restaurants, I know volume can be an issue anywhere, but this place 1) isn’t huge, and 2) doesn’t seem like a «bar» atmosphere. It seemed like a nice restaurant. The activity going on around us wasn’t limited to volume – it was the photos (both parties took a number of flash photos… this was blinding in a restaurant where the structural lighting was very dim), but also the bouncing around, the nature of the conversations, the yelling. It pretty much ruined our experience. Maybe I’m too high maintenance for island life.
The food was really well made – everyone at our table loved their meal. I had an ahi tuna that was cooked perfectly… really fresh and flavorful. A little pricey for what it was, and service was much slower than it should have been, but overall, the food part of the experience was awesome. The peanut butter pie (I believe) was absolutely incredible.
That being said, the environment definitely detracted from the overall experience. However, if you’re looking for a trendy atmosphere for a drunken bachelor (ette) party, this could be the place for you.

The only reason why I can’t bring myself to give this place 5 stars is because the service is really slow. They need more servers for the tables.
The food here is excellent. Thank gosh for this place being on the island. I feel like a lot of the other choices are old and tired and need a facelift. But this place is modern and has great options. Decent wine selection too.

Very cute bistro ambiance just wish it was more beachy. Once you are in this restaurant you feel like you could be back home or in any town — not the usvi. The service was top notch, our waitress was helpful, knowledgable about the menu, not afraid to give suggestions and would show up right when we needed her. Even more impressive is that she was also the main bartender.
We started out with the spinach and artichoke dip it was really good. I then had the crab topped mahi which was very fresh and flavorful this was accompanied with risotto which I wish had a bit more flavor. The hubby had an amazing blackened tuna seriously one of the best we’ve had! Our friends also had the steak which they really enjoyed!

My husband and I dined at XO Bistro recently, and we loved it! The service was friendly and attentive. For an appetizer we shared the spinach artichoke in a bread bowl which was great, though quite filling. My husband ordered the vegetable Wellington which was a delicious option that we don’t usually see. It also came with jalapeño polenta which we love. I had the blackened tuna and it was excellent. It was pan seared and was served with vegetables and wasabi mashed potatoes. I highly recommend that dish! Due to the appetizer I couldn’t finish my meal which was at first a little sad, but I took it home and got to enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day. Oh, also XO Bistro is a well-​stocked wine bar. I opted for a red sangria and then the Pomegranate Ginger Sparkler cocktail. Both were fantastic. I would definitely recommend XO Bistro without any doubts. I only wish I had the time to return before my trip ended!
