Great sandwich, delicious soup and great coffee all for 6.95. You really wouldn’t get this anywhere, especially around rathmines/Ranelagh. Service is great, plenty of seats and spacious. Always enjoy coming here. The mega breakfast is also very nice.

Found the food lovely and wholesome but place seemed too lack hygiene! The girls that were on seemed too be flat out with orders maybe caught them on a bad day

I remember I went on a date here once and it went really crappy. The girl was really hot and I was wearing my best shirt but the date just went really bad for some reason. I mean I told a lot of my best anecdotes and I remember being genuinely funny. Like I commented on a bunch of the stuff in the café and made her laugh a bit. I don’t know, maybe we didn’t have the right chemistry, maybe it’s because I still have acne, maybe it’s because my Ben Sherman shirt had a slight stain on it… But if you ask me it’s the cafes fault that we never had a second date. I would never come back even if I was on my own

Very cute and casual café, with probably one of the most enthusiastic and sweet waitresses I’ve ever had! I just popped in here for a quick breakfast before work and I got a simple bacon bagel and a cappuchino. Both were served very quickly and both were delicious – exactly what I needed! I can imagine these would be a perfect cure after a bit of a mad night! The place was very busy when I was there and the one waitress on the floor was a bit run off her feet but she was very sweet and chatty with everyone. The layout of the place is pretty simple and plain but that’s exactly what I wanted; a genuine and nice café with some decent grub and tasty coffee.

Reasonably good breakfast for the price unfortunately the service is very poor. We had to wait about 35 minutes to be served breakfast and the staff were quite rude. Last time visiting this place.

If you are coming in for a meal… like a big plate of hangover bacon and toast and sweet sweet coffee and some quiet and«honestly dear, I’m shoping» then be sensible. Do not go up the stairs at the back and be tempted by the comfy looking armchairs and coffee tables, these are chairs and tables for a casual coffee, not for eating at. The problem of course is that in a hungover state, you don’t think in terms of ‘I’ll have to balance the plate on my knee and in my condition that is a sketchy prospect and where the hell is that coffee?’… no, all you see us a comfy chair. Stay downstairs, sit at a proper table and chair and dine like the grownup that you are… crying silently in to your coffee and wondering how you got home last night.

Great breakfast, perfect when your hungover! Very affordable too. Think along with extra toast it was about 8 euro for mega breakfast. Service was really good too. Staff were very nice

I love this place. If ever I feel in the mood for a place that is low-key, with inexpensive good food and a homey kind of atmosphere I head straight here. Their banoffee pie is delicious and they offer a huge full irish breakfast with tea or coffee for € 6.95. There are always regulars sitting here reading the newspaper or chatting to the staff. I would be distraught to see this place replaced with a hipster coffee shop. The staff are lovely as well. I highly recommend the place.

Enjoyed a delicious bowl of tomato soup, some lovely brown bread with seeds, and a cappuccino at café moda. Tasty all around. There are plenty of tables for enjoying food and some lounging chairs and coffee tables if you’re just having drinks. However, the café lacked in atmosphere. It didn’t quite hit the mark on cozy and had the wrong type of background music. It also matched the general outdated feel of the location. I’d go back for the soup or a takeaway, bit not necessarily for the vibe.

Endless options for food and drinks. Ultimate value all-day breakfasts and a great, comfy seating area down the back. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Café gem of Rathmines.

It opens early and closes late which is a gift sometimes before work and after work for a caffeine fix. The menu is cheap and cheerful — I especially like the plain cream cheese bagel with a camomile, Kindle and earphones. There are plenty of places to hide and get away from it all — I did however like the rounded bamboo seats they had before as they were more rustic and hippy, but the new seats make it easy to eat food without making a total mess. The free Wi-Fi is great, especially for the abundance of students that frequent here — it’s the students that keep the vibe cool and relaxed really. It can get busy, especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings as the full Irish is reasonably priced and plate lickingly good. The staff are quick, pleasant and get plenty of exercise running up and down the stairs to the kitchen! Recommended for groups, students, writers, dreamers, hipsters, coffee-to-go-ers, first daters and hung-to-the-overs!

All day breakfast, meaty and veggie options, broad coffee menu, home made smoothies AND ice cream scoops available? I haven’t tried all of the above, but what I’ve tried I’ve loved and it’s all a recipe for success as far as I’m concerned. Perfect brunch venue on a lazy Sunday, I can definitely see myself coming back here!

A couple of weeks ago, before a Sunday afternoon stroll on Sandymount Strand, we went for brunch in Café MOda. My Dad calls it his local because he’s gone there everythime he’s come up to stay with us since he moved in. He’s partial to the all-day breakfast. On this occasion, and my first to have anything other than a scone with a coffee, I went for the scrambled egg with smoked salmon and toast. It was lovely and light and a nice portion. I was full without feeling stuffed. She had the breakast bap which looked a fine wedge of bap with 2 sausages on the side. Both came in at € 5.95. The only downside was the fresh orange juice wasn’t much more than room temperature but they were quick to add a few ice cubes on request.

Café Moda has a great café atmosphere(hence the name). Along with the great atmosphere, you are treated to free WiFi and one of the friendliest staffs in Dublin. The staff makes you feel at home, and always asking if you need anything else. I’ve been a couple times and order the Full Irish Breakfast. As far as the breakfast is concerned, it’s nothing too special or to die for, but it is good. And for 6.95 with a coffee, it’s a bargain. The reason I give this place 4 stars is because the food is good but the hospitality of the staff makes this place worth going to.

A lot nicer atmosphere from what I remember. I was greeted with a smile. There’s free wifi, which is quite strong by the way, and they still have the lovely wicker chairs. The tea is also nice. If I wasn’t doing the passover challenge, then I would have some cake or a biscuit! I’ll be back.

Full Irish Breakfast for $ 6.95 with coffee! I’ll take it! The menu is limited; but, the few items offered are decent. I enjoyed an egg and smoked salmon scramble with toast and coffee for only $ 5.95. My companion fully enjoyed the full Irish breakfast as well! Eggs are also only offered two ways: fried or scrambled. But, they’re tasty nonetheless. The staff is super friendly and the tunes are great as well(80’s music when we stopped in for breakfast over the weekend.) There are two levels for dining; so, walking in isn’t an issue. It’s much like your typical dependable breakfast spot with a full espresso bar to boot! It’s a great neighborhood café — they’ll certainly see us again! Note: Cash Only. Free WIFI!

I like chicken soup… if you like chicken soup go here. The chicken soup was more like chicken stew, a delicious chicken stew. It was more of a dinner than a soup starter. Ecellent value at € 2.95

Ok… my reason for bumping this place up is because of a wonderful staff experience. A friend was visiting recently and as usual when friends visit, we were getting little to no sleep but totally happy while doing. Anywhooooo, we swung by this place for a good olé Irish full to jump start our livers, when my friend dropped not one, but both pieces of toast on the floor. So the lovely waitress brought her extra toast… and when I mean extra, I mean two extra pieces on top of the two extra ones and then brought jam as well. So this lovely lovely place gets an extra star. YAY!!!

If coffee-shops had a theme tunes, it’d be «You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me». We treat coffee-shops like crap, but they just take it, desperate for our approval. We expect them to be there for us early in the morning and late into the night. We make unreasonable demands, scolding places that don’t pamper us for a pittance. In return we don’t even offer fidelity, gleefully doing the dirt on them with any high-street chain or train-station kiosk going. Café Moda is a prime example of this messed-up relationship. It’s a great coffee shop. The coffee is strong, nice selection of nibbles. The surroundings are cosy, and there’s a nice upstairs for those looking for some privacy. They stay open relatively late(roughly 8pm) and they’ve free, open wi-fi too. They give a bit back too, hosting any manner of get-together that’ll get a few people in the door. It’s probably the best spot for coffee in Rathmines, now that I think of it.
