This was my 100% absolute favorite coffee spot when I was studying in Dublin. They have excellent, fresh lunch choices and yummy pastries. But the drinks at The Humble Bean(Milk & Honey when I was a regular) are out of this world. The CHAI is just amazing though — highly recommended, even if — like me — you’re not a big chai drinker. So good!

Just looking for a place to get a quick cuppa and a bite while waiting to pick up my laptop. It was empty so I got to take the comfy couch area at the back even though I was on my own. I ordered tea and a raspberry scone. You know the odd time you have a scone and it reminds you that you really like scones, as opposed to just think of them as a not-that-objectionable, slightly less fatty, alternative to pastries. This one, however, really reminded me that I do enjoy a scone. The inside seating area was a bit hot and stuffy, but that might just have been the day that was in it.

It’s fairly run of the mill but it’s one of my faves. It’s never crazy busy but they do some mean scrambled eggs. I love popping in, grabbing a cappuccino and the Sundays and watching the world go by. Decent prices too. Which is not to be sniffed at in coffee culture Dublin!

Cute and quiet place. Played Fleet Foxes I mean what more can you ask of a place?

Lovely café. Great place to chill out in. I love their caramel squares. I had really good service and there was a socket to charge my laptop, score :-) Their hot chocolate was just ok. Even though they put a cool bear face on the froth. Like most places, they use powdered chocolate. Always disappointing, but what can you do.(I don’t drink coffee so I can’t comment on theirs)

Second nicest coffee in Dublin! Not bad at all :-)

I loved this spot for a cup of coffee. It gives me the feeling of being in San Francisco for some reason. We respectively enjoyed a latte(they have soy milk for the dairy-free consumers) and a cappuccino which came with a sweet work of art on it.(And, incidentally, while waiting for our hot drink orders, I noticed a 2010 ‘barista’ award for espresso bar works of art — i.e. your cappuccino has a heart-shape made from the milk foam.) This establishment has two levels and outdoor seating as well. Upstairs is quite warm; but, there is a section of leather couches in the back corner which makes it inviting for a small group. We chose the table overlooking the street and felt a nice breeze creep up towards us while we dove our forks into a piece of the gluten-free brownie. My boyfriend wasn’t a big fan of it(he prefers the real thing) but I enjoyed it — tasty and somewhat healthy! The place has a welcoming charm. So, get off the street and enjoy a hot beverage. There are books to read and newspapers. And, if you’re interested in enjoying a savory(vs. sweet) bite, there’s a breakfast and lunch menu as well. «Richness worth a second cup» in my opinion.(That’s an American line from a very old Folgers instant coffee commercial by the way.)

i’ve been here a few times in recent months and i’ve always liked the salads and sandwiches, not to mention the coffee which is pretty decent but the best thing about here is the friendliness! i nipped in for a coffee last week to meet a friend and the guy that served us was incredibly friendly and pleasant, that itself will have me coming back again

This is a welcoming little café with bakery scones, great coffee, comfort food breakfast and light lunch. It’s solid variety coming from the smallest kitchen ever. The staff are welcoming and even when full of customers they are very attentive. I appreciate the mini outdoor tables on the sidewalk to take in those moments of sunshine. The décor is stylish in deep brown and light blue making it relaxed and stylish at the same time.

I’m a fan of Milk and Honey. It’s just around the corner from the office and does a great coffee. One of the baristas, Fan, is an amazing and award winning latté art expert — you should get him to do a design for you if he has the time. Milk and Honey is comfortable with friendly staff. Good selection of food at a fairly good price — it’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Good for a coffee and a chat — great place for meetings!

I didn’t actually realize that Darwin’s had closed until I wanted to get a coffee there and found Milk and Honey instead. Pretty disappointed I was just about to walk away when I spotted the Daisy chain cupcakes… score! And I was pleased to discover that the place is still friendly, relaxed and welcoming and the coffee still as good, now with the added benefit of high-sugar cupcakes. It might not be an original idea, but Honey and Milk do the coffee shop thing pretty well so I’m missing Darwin a wee bit less.

Nothing really original here. It’s nice, clean and relaxed, has plenty of tables and friendly staff. There are just so many similar coffeehouses to be found in the centre, offering the same menu of sandwiches, coffee and cupcakes, but with lots more character, and better coffee. One plus. They have Wi-fi.

We stopped in here looking for breakfast and ended up with lunch. It has this fantastic, relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to grab a novel and curl up in a chair. My chili carrot soup was very tasty, and much more than I was able to eat, and I love me some Irish soda bread. I should have grabbed one of those towels with the recipe on it while I was over there. My boyfriend’s meat pie was most potato-y divine, and we left quite satisfied with heavy pockets. A little off the tourist path, maybe, but a great choice nonetheless and service with a smile. What more can you ask for?

I went in recently to get a ‘Daisy Chain Cupcake’ having heard lots of my friends raving about them. I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The luminosity of the sponge is really something. The icing is weightless, fluffy and frothy. Sitting on top of the stack of rich icing were little frogs made from marzipan and unsurprisingly, the flowerhead of a daisy chain emblematic of the cake’s name. The café was small and generally demure in décor. And I don’t mean demure in the sense that it was stylishly simplistic but rather underwhelming in its bleakness. I came away with a take-out coffee to sip on my way towards Trinity that was nicely velvety without compromising any of the potency.

This place is great! Aside from being the best cappuccino I had while I was in Dublin… the food was really good. Check out the salmon bagel. It was so nice. And, don’t miss the pain au chocolate! Plus, everybody who works there was so helpful and nice. My wife and I really loved talking to Emma… she is a great barista.

Milk & Honey(formerly Café Darwin) is responsible for a lot of frenzied doodling in my college lectures. It’s because it isn’t out of the ordinary for me to pick up an espresso or three in milk & honey on my way into my college which is just up the road. It’s a great little coffee shop with a cuppa joe that really packs a punch, which is exactly what you’ll need in the forthcoming brisk winter mornings.

So like a week ago one of my favorite coffee shop’s in Dublin, Darwin’s Café, closed down and I was pretty bummed. Then, like, a week later another coffee shop opened in it’s place. WTF, right? Who knows why these things happen, why one business closes only to be replaced by the exact same thing. I decided to get over my sadness and check out the new place because first of all, the name is super cute. Love, love, love the name. Milk & Honey? The obvious answer is YESPLEASE. The interior is pretty much the exact same as Darwin’s. I chuckled to myself and thought, well maybe the espresso machine is the same too! Well, it wasn’t. Or else the barista had no idea what he was doing. The coffee was a little bit tasty, but it was so weak and kind of watered down. I didn’t really enjoy it, and at 2.40 I thought it should have been better. On the upside, the staff was really sweet and there was a little stand of fresh cupcakes in chocolate, vanilla and lemon curd from Daisy Chain Cupcakes. The case at the front had some pre-made sandwiches and brownies that looked kinda eh. But the menu was really tempting looking, with fresh, «seasonal» sandwiches and soups.

There are loads of really little cool cafes popping up all over Aungier Street! It is great, I have no reason to head further into the city centre at all any more! Plenty to keep me busy this side of Dame Street! Darwin’s is on the same street as The Bald Barista and to me their coffee and menu is pretty similar although it is more expensive here. A large black Americana is an outrageous € 3! After 3pm you can get a scone and coffee for € 5, which is a bit more reasonable. The staff are really friendly and relaxed and the barista Fan Zhang is the Irish latte art Champion 2009, so you know you are going to get a perfect brewed coffee with a pretty little picture on top!
