Birrieria la Victoria

Tengo una amiga que vive por la zona del mercado de santa Tere que conozco de varios años y a quién quiero mucho. Por lo regular, los días que me quedo a dormir en su casa, sus papás traen taquitos de birria para desayunar al día siguiente. Siempre que los como le pregunto al papá de amiga en dónde los compra porque sinceramente están buenísimos: muy bien sazonada la carne y para nada grasosa. Él siempre me comentaba que muy cerca del mercado hay una birriería llamada La Victoria a la que había ido toda su vida, incluso su papá su iba ahí también y fue él quien le enseño a comer birria en este lugar.
Pasó mucho tiempo hasta que de casualidad me encontré con este restaurante, que si se aprecia desde afuera, no es más que un simple local pintado de verde pistache, por lo que no llama tanto la atención. Pero cuando entras el olor a consomé invade y pronto quieres llegar a una mesa para ordenar. Lo típico: puedes pedir tacos individuales o caldo con carne para prepararla a tu gusto con salsa, limón y sal. Riquísimo. Excelente opción para un domingo en la mañana.
Súper tip: son tantos los años que lleva en servicio este lugar, que las paredes se han convertido en testigos del paso del tiempo porque están decoradas con las primeras planas de acontecimientos muy importantes de la historia. Es impresionante. Visítalos y conoce.

If you like history you will like this birrieria. The place has been around since 1948 and is decorated with newspapers (replicas from the Informador) of historic events from around the world: the end of WWII, the assassination of Kennedy, among many others.
These guys really love their goat. Not only are they huge fans of the Chivas Football Club, but here are a couple of awesome goat heads that have been stuffed and hung on the wall.
The birria is really good and I love that they follow up with you as you are eating. They come by with this little pitcher full of steaming birria soup broth to pour into your bowl to keep everything hot. They have all the common cuts, but these guys are teaching me about the other cuts like the liver and braided tripe, lol. I am still not a huge fan of the liver, but I’m slowly coming around.
