Loved everything about this beautiful hotel. The service was outstanding, the rooms were luxurious, well decorated and very comfortable. The outdoor bath tub was a great surprise. Yes, the A/C worked round the clock and very, very good. The beach front yoga studio is spectacular and the teachers were exceptional. A great way to start each day. I can not say enough about the food at the real coconut other than it was amazing. The grouper fish tacos with coconut based tortillas were my favorite. Can’t wait to get back to Tulum to stay here again.

Took an Iyengar class the next day with a native Spanish speaking instructor who has been practicing for 2 decades. Really detailed oriented, clear and made great adjustments, catered to the range of levels of people with props in Spanish and English, and we all got a great meditative work outc even the more advanced people who are used to power yoga. She is a petit short brown haired woman, amazing! Forgot her name :(

Really, avoid Sanara. My wife and I ate at Sanara a few weeks ago when in Tulum. We ate salads(a risky choice in coastal Mexico I know, but their specialty). The next morning we were both violently ill. Really clear to us that the meal at Sanara did us in. Avoid Sanara at all costs(which incidentally are the highest in Tulum). Did I mention, avoid Sanara! Currently at Sanara Tulum for the week. This place is beautiful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and beds are so comfortable. The sheets are bamboo silk and just heavenly. The mattress lulls you to comfort land. The sounds of the waves enter from the beach which is at your doorstep. Our view amazing. I travel a lot and stay in only the finest hotels. First off Tulum is my new favorite escape. And Sanara I would rate 5 plus! The yoga studio is best in Tulum. The view, the studio and the classes are top notch. Doing yoga each morning while breathing to the crashing waves is so peaceful and invigorating. The Spa and variety of massages were amongst the best I’ve received. Well worth every penny. The Real Coconut did not disappoint. The food was delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all satisfying, healthy and kept me going back. Smoothies rocked. Charlie the owner was delightful with a great spirit and is doing wonderful things! We will return!!!

Spent all of last week on a Yoga retreat at Sanara in Tulum. Here’s a detailed break down of service, rooms, food, hospitality and location We landed at 8:00pm on Saturday night and were greeted by the reception. While they spoke little English, they were friendly and we managed to communicate the necessary details. 3 of us shared a Garden View room. The Room — –The Garden View room itself is very beautiful, modernesq, very relaxing vibe. –There is a huge king bed and a day bed which is big(long and wide) enough to easily fit an adult. The beds are extremely comfortable –The bathroom has a rain shower only. -****The septic system is not set up to let one flush even toilet paper, let alone tampons or wet wipes. Soooooo, yeah, everything needs to be thrown in the trash can. –Moving on, there is no TV in the rooms — which I personally really liked! I spent most of my time on the beach anyway. -**********Unfortunately, for some of the guests the room was far from satisfying, especially for the prices they paid. These infamous rooms are the Jungle View rooms. Jungle View Room — They are not located on the same side as the rest of the hotel. They are across the street, surrounded by a mini forest. While being in all the green is great, what is not great and not acceptable is coming to a room where cockroaches are moving around the floor. One day the guests spotted a mouse in their room. There is no a. c in the room The bathroom has no door, so unless you’re going with your boo, be ready to drop your shyness before you drop your towel in front of your roommate. There are screen doors and windows, which means that you can hear all the noise from people walking on the streets, vehicles driving along and construction noises too. I’d highly recommend you do your research before deciding on which room to go with. The photos on the website are of the Garden View and Ocean View only. Access to the beach — –The Garden View and Ocean View rooms are located right by the beach — we literally walked about 50 steps to get to the beach. — Sanara has set up a few a beds and one too few umbrellas for guests to lounge on/under. Some members of our crew brought it up to the owner that they should have more umbrellas, hopefully they add more umbrellas/shade by the lounge beds. –The restaurant staff will take orders for drinks and deliver to your lounge and charge to your hotel room if you wish Yoga Studio — The Yoga studio is by far the best that this hotel has to offer, it faces the beach/ocean, the sliding doors allow the breeze to come. It is huge enough to easily fit about 20 people. One thumb down — for the lack of shades/blinds, because the rising sun makes it difficult for one to comfortable practice certain movements and it becomes very hot. The restaurant — Let me start by saying that the restaurant staff was stellar! amazing! super friendly! –Hats off to Maya, Emilio, Christian, Walter, the chef(didn’t get a chance to get his name) and the rest. –since we were on a retreat, our pricing included meals along with boarding. –Every morning started with a fruit bowl. -****** 2 thumbs down to the nutritionist for not taking into account nutrition requirements of vegans/vegetarians, especially in terms of protein intake. Not just breakfast, but protein was missing in all meals of the vegetarian folk. Actually, most of the meals for everyone was vegan on most days. Every day the vegetarians simply got avocado and toast! uh uh! not acceptable, especially if you have a nutritionist on board for retreaters. READTHEFOLLOWING ==================== 3 days into our retreat, about one-third of our 18 member retreat crew fell victim to food poisoning. Here’s is where the attitude of the owners and the retreat coordinator, who btw was absent in action through out the entire 1 week stay. Not only did they(the owners) not show empathy, there was no apology, au contraire they kept insisting that it wasn’t food poisoning. one of my friends who fell sick due to food poisoning before too knew the symptoms, in fact it only last 24 hours. no other virus last only 24 hours. it wasn’t the flu either because none of those who had food poisoning ran a temperature. The only saving grace in this was the kindness and helpfulness of Maya(Kitchen Manager) and her staff. Finally, Marium(apologies if I got the spelling wrong), the onsite hotel manager, came and personally spoke with those who were sick, at least with my friend she did, she explained her side of story and listened to my friend’s. she did apologize and express sympathy for my friend. She was kind and did the needful to make sure my friend was doing better and her needs were taken care of. I understand that this resort is only a few months old, I hope they take this feedback and incorporate the needful.
