Man o’man, what a tough tough decision. So, I’ve been itching to get a new tat for a long long time. And being in Auckland, I thought Maori and«Why the heck not!» So along Queen St, I found this place down an alley way and walked up the old-school flight of stairs. Upon first glance I notice how earthy and bright the place was. The tables and area in general appeared really clean. As one artist was busy applying ink on someone, I was greeted by Ida who seemed helpful in every way. We talked about my design and prices($ 100 – 150 nzd /per hour), and even set up an appointment for the next day. I was told to meet one of their main artist at her newer location on 75 Queen St. It was only a few stores down, along the same block. The location had only been open for about three months now. I showed up for my appointment and meet up with Jay. I thought I had made a mistake because I totally forgot I was on blood thinners. In other words, my blood won’t clot. Jay and I discussed my situation, but both he and Ida showed concern and explained all the risks. I told him to test out and old tattoo of mine by shading it to see how bad I bleed. Well, things tested out well and I proceeded with getting the design I wanted. Now, the new shop in general was also clean in my opinion. Only they’re still under construction down in the lower floor and toilet area. But the main floor was set up nicely. Ida even has the place set up for clients to do a pedicure in the corner, waxing in a private room, and even piercings. She basically has a beauty salon next door that shares the tattoo/piercing shop. It wasn’t a big deal to me, as I just wanted to get my ink done. So, bottom line, I paid approximately $ 360 usd for work that lasted four and a half hours. Not bad at all, and I love the new ink I’ve got all around my calf. I’m looking for blemishes, but I’ll have to wait until it fully heals. Thus far, the outline and shading look clean! Jay is one excellent artist! He took his time in helping me with my design, and was patient with me from beginning until end. Even when I changed my design halfway through, he was cool with it. If you’re looking for a shop to get a tat done right, give this place a try! Talk to Ida.
