Barista Jam

When I first arrived in Hong Kong and started to get to grips with the local coffee scene I found lots of recommendations for Barista Jam. By happy coincidence I ended up spending my first month within a short walk and so I have been able to get to grips with what Barista Jam has to offer.
At first, I thought that Barista Jam was super small, in common with many coffee shops in Hong Kong. However, in fact, it has two levels, so don’t be put off if it looks full from the outside. That said, for me, it is much nicer downstairs as you can engage with the friendly staff and watch the baristas in action.
The most important thing about a coffee shop is the coffee itself and this is an area where Barista Jam excels. It always has lots of interesting coffee to try in store or buy to take away: everything from dark toffee and caramel flavours to something more floral/​fruity. Not sure what to choose? Not a problem, the baristas will guide you to something you will almost certainly enjoy.
The only thing I would change is to have slightly more interesting food options and, perhaps, be a bit lighter inside. Still, these are only small quibbles and Barista Jam therefore gets a thumbs up from me as one of Sheung Wan’s best coffee options.

Coffee is great, breakfast is great, pasta is not bad. It’s cozy. I like to go at morning time. Although there are many cafes in Sheung Wan now but Barista Jam is still my favourite!
They serve specialty coffee and beans as well.
