Tiny place on a very busy street but I often go here in the way to work and the quality of the coffee is hard to beat. The staff are incredibly friendly

Having been an LA resident and being a Hong Kong native, I believe that finding great espresso drinks that satisfy my own demand can be difficult. The coffee scene in the States as well as in LA has been big and blown up. Above it all, Starbucks and Pacific Coffee just doesn’t fit the bill when it comes to coffee bar with baristas that put in the care and the work per order. Coco Espresso was located somewhat near where I was staying and it was great especially having had a few cups of sub par espresso drinks. Coco espresso puts together its own blend and the baristas there carefully crafted my cappuccino with the appropriate amount of espresso to milk ratio as well as getting the coffee to the right temperature. If you love coffee bars comparable to Blue Bottle, Intelligentsia, or smaller bars like Cognoscenti and Taza, I would highly recommend Coco Espresso in HK as a start. I am glad to have found this gem and I will definitely go back on my next visit.

Good things can come in small packages especially, perhaps, in Hong Kong. This branch of the Coco Espresso mini-chain certainly fits this bill. Coco is squeezed into a tiny space and with only 10 or so seats you may be forced to grab your coffee to go. However you take your coffee, you will enjoy it. The espresso is dark and chocolately, working especially well with milk based drinks. If you prefer drip coffee, this is well catered for as well. There are some breakfast options as well but so far Coco has been all about the coffee for me. Topping it all off is first class service. I have only been here 3 times but I already seem to be recognised. That might have something to do with me struggling to get the sliding door to open properly on my first visit…
