Based on a recommendation from our hotel we tried it out. Definitely tasty and would recommend. I did not read any reviews about the place until later and they are right about the timing of your order arrival and the service. Honestly though, I have had way worse service in other places.

I was taken here by a resident for dinner and it was packed. They ordered the food and it was so so good. Service is hit or miss as several different people are serving you. Then I went back on my own for lunch, also packed with people and had the spareribs, dumplings, squid and it was so good. Asian food in San Francisco will have a new bar to meet. BTW: the location is San Francisco is getting bad reviews.

Good food, but mediocre service. Crystal Jade is notoriously bad at keeping your orders served in the right order! You probably don’t want to come here in a hurry as they may either be really slow or really fast. They will bombard you with dishes over a 5 minute period, because of how disorganized their staff are, but at least the food is good. You have got to try the Xiaolongbao(soup dumplings), they’re really good, but don’t be fooled by their novelty multi-coloured ones. They may look good when you think about it, BUTTHEY’REEXACTLYTHESAMEAS A STANDARDXIAOLONGBAO, aside from being slightly pricier. Noodles are good, peanut noodles are always a good pick, but also try out the fried dumplings. They’re juicy and crunchy! The same can be said about their rolled cucumber skins. They sound simple, but they’re also delicious! One thing to note: ALWAYSALWAYSALWAYS get a reservation. This place will almost always have a long lineup outside, and sometimes the reservation may even serve as a means of shortening your wait time. Portions are getting smaller, but that has not been enough of a deterrent for me to stop coming… yet.

Okay, first things first, if you are in a hurry, avoid at all costs, you will end up frustrated and hungry. This is the reason: for some reason, somehow, they generate a lineup at every branch including this one. Crystal jade is one of the most well known shanghainese restaurants in hong kong. In my opinion, they have localized it to local taste buds so it isn’t exactly authentic. Having said that, the food here is pretty good(just not good enough for me to line up). The food is somewhat consistent and they have the same menus at al branches… So much for creativity. They specialize in xiao long bao and other shanghainese specialities. Love of my favorite dishes here however is not their dumplings. I really enjoy their cold tofu topped with century egg. It’s refreshing in the summer and is healthy as it’s not drenched with sauce. On the other end of the spectrum, their tan tan noodles are delish as well but this one is indeed drenched in peanut sauce and oils. It’s nicely presented here and I like their peanut sauce, it’s got just the right amount of spice. If you don’t kind lining up, could be a good option.
