As Unilocal sez, it’s as good as it gets in Hong Kong(try Shenzhen for the real deal). I’ve been going here regularly for years and they’ve yet to disappoint. Pricey for Chinese food and occasionally so packed to the rafters they have to turn you away, but otherwise? Great, 90-percent authentic Sichuanese cuisine and a hotpot get-up that’s unbeatable for this city. Best dishes: the water-boiled beef; fried diced chicken(lazi ji) and dandan mian(noodles). But I always go for the hotpot.

One of the best Szechuan in HK. Authentic. 水煮桂魚、蒜泥白肉 are just great. Dandan noodle is also good.

Came here for a bday dinner with 14 people, they literally crammed us all on one of their large tables. To say we were squished is an understatement. Food wise, the cold spicy chicken was great, beans with mixed pork was delicious and flavoursome, peppers in Chili was interesting but tasty, the fried spicy chicken with cashew is seriously mostly dried chilies and on the bone which made difficult eating. Then onto the hotpot — the meat was not as fresh as I had hoped and quite sinewy, the beef, fish, prawn, cuttlefish balls were freshly made and fantastic! Dumplings always a favorite. Loved the sauce station and I guess since we had such a huge table and ordered copious amounts of drinks the service was pretty good. Bill was a whopping $ 8000+ but that was a lot of beers and some champagne. Will come back to try some of the dinner dishes next time.

Do not go here. Last time my fiancé and his coworker and I ate here for dinner, my fiancé ordered a bowl of white rice, and halfway after eating the rice, there was a cockroach! Please do yourself a favor and try any other sichuan restaurant because after we complained about the cockroach and showed it to the people working there, they just said, oh do you want me to exchange the rice for you? My fiancé was like no way we are not paying for this meal. And we walked out. Haven’t been back since.

Gotta give this place a 5 star… I’ve been there 3 times so I can tell the quality of food and service is consistently great. Last two times we were accommodated at the 22nd floor where the deco is not as great as the 7th floor just so you keep that in mind when you make a reservation. If you like Sichuan food, I strongly recommend you give it a go. The menu is large so I’ve always let my local friends pick. The star on the table those three times has been the stewed white fish in a pot of chillies — I love fishing the tender spicy pieces of fish in there. It comes with pig blood, noodles and bean sprouts too. Beware of the Sichuan peppers, I developed a love-hatred relationship. Love the intense lemonish like feeling in the mouth but it almost hurts afterwards. We’ve also had marinated cold chicken, coated oysters, egg yolk coated shrimp, marinated spicy tofu, among others. We usually pick dishes with different level of spiciness and it works out great, the fish being the spiciest though not at an unbearable level. The yolk coated shrimps are amazing. Heavy but oh! so good. Now, I haven’t tried the desserts because I don’t eat sugar but I must admit I had a little bite at the jogi and osmanthus pudding and it wasn’t particularly sweet but absolutely delicious. Perfect to calm down the buds after such a meal. Location wise, you better get there by cab, it’s well hidden in Mid-Levels. Price wise, we’ve paid around 1200HKD for five of us. No drinks, just tea. I think it’s pretty fair. Am I coming back? Sure, I am.

It’s a really good and famous Sichuan place in HK. Location is not easy to find you can only walk or go by taxi. But if you’re not familiar with that area I suggest you to take cab. Try to dine on the 7/F rather than the 22/F as it’s actually tastes better even they are under the same restaurant. 7/F closes earlier than 22/F so make sure you call before hand and check. You have to make reservations prior esp weekends or else there’s zero chance you can make a last minute reservation. My recommendations would be fish in a pot of chillies and beef cubes with chillies in mini wok. The fish was very tender with heavy flavour of star anise and peppercorn, and of course it’s spicy enough. This dish came with some flat glass noodles so you might consider order less dish with carbs. Beef cubes with chillies in mini wok was my favourite. The beef was very tender and it’s quite spicy but not too to a point which you can’t bare it. FYI — I can take very spicy tho so my opinion might not be objective enough in this case. You may order less spicy though, request when you place an order. I recommend this place to all Sichaun food lovers. Definitely worth a try!
