Came here because a NZ expat recommended this place. It’s not too bad but still like hooked.
Pluses:
— Dine in (if I don’t feel like cleaning up the mess/​trash)
— Close to home (like literally on my street)
— cards accepted (which is good because it’s not that cheap here compared to hooked. 15 USD for fish and chips!)
Minuses:
— a bit pricey than hooked
— I still think hooked is a bit better in taste
Overall still good because the pros still outweigh the cons.

Overall, the food is tasty. Very greasy fish. A friend claims the fries are the best in SoHo. They’re crispy, but a little thicker than I prefer (I’m such a skinny fry guy). Not much going on over in Mosque Street, so the view and people watching kind of blow. An overall «meh» grade.

Overall a good experience. They also do tacos but I stuck with fish n chips since the owner is from Australia and I’m from San Diego so my idea of tacos might be slightly different than hers. Maybe I’ll try them next time. The other option is fish and a) chips b) brown rice c) salad. Nice to have the option but as I don’t get authentic fish and chips at home I stuck with choice a).
Nice cut of barramundi, a real nice flaky white fish from Oz. Portion was good for a guy who’d been out hiking all day. Chips were decent and complimented the fish well. They have a great tartar sauce but were a bit stingy on refilling it. I love dipping my fries (chips) in tartar so I went through it rather quickly. For the price point there should be no hesitation to refill.
James Boag beer. Wow, I’m sure I’ve had one since a long ago visit to Tasmania but it’s been a while. Price was the same as the other offerings so I had two. That was a pleasant surprise. Another nice surprise was Tapatio (Mexican style hot sauce from California) which is a staple in my condiment shed.
Bathroom was clean and the soap didn’t pollute my hands with fragrance. My only complaint is the cheap grease absorbent paper at the bottom of the fish n chips dish/​bowl. It quickly became soggy and shredded and mixed with my barramundi bits. A higher grade wax paper of whatever doesn’t disintegrate (lettuce?) might be a better option. Brits should take note there’s no mashed peas.
I’ll be back on a future trip to Hong Kong.

Do yourself a favor and try the lemonade. Mmm love it. Good food and great fish and chips. Not that familiar with the area but it is mid level at the top.
Pretty busy at times so you can get it to go if you want. But even though it’s busy they get the food out to you pretty quickly.

You ever get that feeling when you really need food that is beige and fried? Well, welcome to Seasalt, quite frankly the best fish and chips in Hong Kong!
With a selection of cod, snapper or barramundi, as well as chicken and some «veggie”/cheese options, the menu will not disappoint. And neither will the preparation. The fish is well cooked, with the batter crunchy and crispy. The chicken schnitzel is breaded to perfection and served with the tastiest meat gravy. The chips are not traditional UK fish and chip style. They are more like the spicy flavoured oven chips you buy in the supermarket, but they are very tasty nonetheless. I recommend getting lashings of garlic aioli for the chips too — yummy!
Be warned however, this is about the extent of the menu. There are no battered sausages, pies, saveloys, pickled eggs, and certainly no deep fried Mars bars. This isn’t a UK chippy experience, which may or may not be good in your books?
The location is a little remote, being a good way up the escalator in Mid Levels, but well worth the trip. The interior décor is very pleasant, with a clean and simple black and white diner theme. The staff are incredibly courteous, professional and friendly.
For those of you who want to add this a regular haunt, there is a loyalty stamp card with free meal rewards — I’m already on my second!
