I travel to Hong Kong for business many times each year. So I have tried many places in HK. Tai Hing is a typical local HK restaurant that offers a huge selection of local dishes — some western, some Chinese, but all HK styled fusion. Please note that this is not a romantic to bring your date. It’s a quick eat-and-go restaurant. I got a fixed set dinner — a cha-su rice dish, some veggie on the side and a red bean cold drink — for 77HKD. It’s cheap, fast, tasty and really filling. I would definitely come here again.

Hong Kong style cafes serving eggs, toast, and instant ramen set breakfasts are the norm. They’re filling and very affordable, generally ranging $ 50HKD or less per meal. Plus, these cafes are generally open early morning around 6am and run until midnight — very accommodating hours for everyone! However, most of the time, food from these cafes are all too similar and don’t consist of any standout specialty items. I had the breakfast set E: instant ramen noodles with luncheon meat(similar to spam), scrambled egg, and a couple pieces of gai lan. The meal overall was filling and salty, but nothing notable or exciting. It came with a cup of hot milk tea, which is another standard to these HK style cafes. I would upgrade to the chilled version though. Service was very quick, and given how busy Tai Hing gets during breakfast on weekends, I wouldn’t expect anything but speedy service. This place fills up fast too, so come early. The large restaurant also has very roomy, spacious booth seating, something much appreciated here and rare in smaller Hong Kong eateries.
