This was a lovely dining experience while enjoying one of the best views in Hong Kong. After the journey to the top of the building 100+ floors up, we were greeted by the always-friendly Ritz Carlton staff. Truly ladies and gentlemen with a passion for service. Upon being seated(you can try to reserve a window table, but it’s tough) we were then greeted by our server who outlined what our dining experience would be like. She was very knowledgable about the hotel, the restaurant, and the accolades of Chef Pino. We ordered: Starters: Sea Tiramisu(2nd Place) Beef Carpaccio(1st Place) Main: Sea Bass(2nd Place) Wagyu(1st Place) Dessert Tiramisu(2nd Place) Pumpkin Cake(1st Place, and best of the meal) Beverages: The menu is expensive and caters to a variety of budgets. The service throughout the meal was fantastic. The tables are far enough away from each other so you can have some privacy. We were about 20 feet back from the window with tables between us and the window and the view was still great. Overall, a wonderful experience. PS: Gentlemen, they view from the mens room urinals is almost as wonderful as the view from the dining room. If you’ve been to Felix atop the Peninsula, it’s similar.

Ate here a few days ago for their set lunch while trying to find a good Italian food in Hong Kong. After doing some research, I stumbled on this place and figure that it had a good view so why not and it is Michelin rated as well. Came here and was promptly seated, the menu came and we ordered. The wait staff seems attentive and they didn’t wanted to know what we want to order right away, which is nice for a change. I ordered the Parpadelle, with the Poached Tuna and the Tiramisu for dessert. The price is broken down to courses, with a minimal of 2 courses ordered. Food came pretty quickly. The food was tasty and I can’t say that anything was bad. The food does seem a tad inconsistent, but the discrepancy wasn’t much and not to complaint about. Overall, I would come back here again to eat. The food was good and the view was to die for. Price isn’t cheap. As of 2015, $ 495 for lunch and $ 980 for dinner is quite steep, but it isn’t terribly expensive.

Amazing free flow champagne Sunday brunch with unparalleled views and three different champagne«tiers» to choose from(hit on the head with a big bag of cash while walking down the street? Then you can feel good about forking over HK$ 1,988 pp for the 2005 Dom Perignon option. I was very happy with the middle-of-the-road option of the Ruinart blanc de blancs at $ 998 pp). A very well-curated buffet with deliciously prepared and impeccably fresh seafood(and I’m usually not that interested in seafood), a couple of nicely roasted joints of meat to choose from, and a beautiful cheese+desserts bar with an adorable mini ice cream cone station. Service can range from warm and attentive to abrupt and impersonal, but no glass goes unfilled for long and empty plates get whisked away as soon as the last bite is eaten and the knife and fork put to temporary rest.

To me, the Michelin star is well deserved. Every bite to me felt like I was in heaven. The homemade fusilli was a hit with my boyfriend and the steak was like having a party in my mouth. The desserts were to die for. And Francesco, the manager, was fantastic, not only for the restaurant but he was the person with the highest quality of service I found all over the hotel. Over $ 600 American dollars, but totally worth it. Oh and the view of course can’t be beaten.

Tosca is a Michelin-starred restaurant on the 102nd floor of the Ritz Carlton, the highest hotel in the world, located in the tallest building in Hong Kong. It’s a good restaurant, but it’s definitely the kind of place where you know you’re paying for the view – not because the food isn’t great, but because it’s enormously fucking expensive. I don’t usually harp on expense when reviewing fancy restaurants, but Tosca’s pricing is really egregious. Almost every dish – appetizer, pasta, or entrée – costs upwards of 400 Hong Kong dollars, or over fifty bucks in American money. That is crazy. And the food is pretty tasty and all, but it isn’t anything earth-shattering. I’ve had better Italian meals for probably a quarter of the money. The venue, though, is pretty marvelous. I came with my family for my husband Matt B.‘s birthday dinner, and we were impressed with the space. Matt has a particular interest in cities and tall buildings, so this was really perfect for him. We made a 6:30 reservation so we could catch the sunset, getting both daytime and nighttime views of Hong Kong. We rode the Peak Tram up during this trip, but got much better views from Tosca. The restaurant itself was also very attractive, sleek and modern but visibly opulent. Service was formal and generally competent, but there was one not insignificant mistake. The kitchen messed up a pasta order, bringing out the wrong dish for my mom. She had to wait a while for her replacement, and there wasn’t much in the way of an apology, certainly nothing taken off the bill. Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but kind of unacceptable for $ 50+ pastas. The food was good, some of it great. No real complaints, at least. We started with a nice assortment of bread – sourdough, olive, and rosemary tomato focaccia – and an amuse bouche of fish and chips. This was a neat little morsel of fried cod served with a dollop of tartar sauce and a couple potato chips. We ordered a la carte, as we had some picky eaters, but there were tasting menus available. Matt and I each got antipasti and pasta, and shared a secondi. Our whole table went in on a few desserts. This was plenty of food – going for four courses each would’ve been decadent even ignoring the prices. I started with the sea tiramisu, a beautiful plate of red prawn carpaccio served with seared scallop and parsley cream. The carpaccio was pleasantly delicate, if light on the texture, and I loved the tender scallop and the whipped tiramisu mound of parsley cream. I also liked the fried shrimp shell on the side, which was kind of like a shrimp cracker. Matt’s beef carpaccio was also good, little bites of beef combined with ricotta cheese, homemade tomato jam, and saffron rice crackers. The pastas were pretty good, but I’ve certainly had better. My squid ink fettuccine was a tiny bit bland and cooked a tiny bit soft. I’ve had better squid ink pasta for under $ 20, at at least a dozen different places. It was good enough to polish off, though, tossed with diver scallops and zucchini. Matt’s homemade fusilli was much better, the thick twists of pasta cooked a proper al dente, covered in a rich chicken tomato ragout and provolone cheese. For our entrée, we shared the poached red tuna with«ventresca» sauce and caper. This was a beautiful piece of fish, meaty and flavorful, cooked just right with a lot of red in the center. The sauce was thick and velvety, also made with tuna, amping up the flavor of the fish even further. Desserts were lovely, and the one placed in front of Matt came with a birthday candle. This was the Tosca Chuao 82% chocolate delight, a dense medley of molten chocolate, chocolate cake, and chocolate ice cream, lightened with a bit of passionfruit. The traditional tiramisu with limoncello was nice and airy and not too sweet, a trifle-style preparation with layers and layers of tiramisu goodness. My favorite dessert, though, was the lemon soufflé, which required twenty minutes of prep. This was a light, fluffy, whispering soufflé, tart and bright, served with banana and lime sherbet. Would definitely recommend. Dinner ended with mignardises – biscotti, coffee cream, chocolate truffle, lemon Madeleine, and raspberry pâté de fuit. Sweet little notes to send us home. I wouldn’t go to Tosca more than once, but we did have a good time here, in large part due to the restaurant’s location and view. The food was great, too, just not amazing enough to justify the prices. I’m sure there are other places in Hong Kong more worthy of this kind of splurge.

Tosca offers unparalleled views of Hong Kong while you dine. Located on the 102nd floor, of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Tosca serves up fine Italian cuisine. We had come to Tosca one afternoon for a relaxing treat on a weekday. A three or four course meal is offered with prices ranging from 500−600HKD. You can have your choice of antipastos, pastas, main courses, and desserts. There are some selections that require additional charge. We made our choices and the wait begins. After our choices were made with the staff, another comes over with a selection of breads for us to pick from. I choose two and my partner choose another 2. Accompanied with some oil and balsamic vinaigrette, we dug in. All our selections were hard beyond belief. I was afraid of knocking my partner our trying to break a piece off. haha =x It was surprising to us, but thats not going to ruin our meal. We just stopped eating and continued waiting. First course, lovely. Squid on top of some peas and croutons. The dish was a good kickstart to our meal. Second dish, a very bold star pasta with lobster in all its goodness. The entrée, pork if I remember correctly. It was… ehhh…not that memorable at all. We were so full by dessert time, all I did was dabble a bit here and there. The staff here were very accommodating and attentive. We were initially seated on one of the couches, but they could see my discomfort as it was right under a vent, and offered a table right next to the windows to us. Very nice staff indeed. For the price, I would expect better execution. The bread wasn’t great and the entrée could have used a bit more love.
