The food is good, but the staff are very rude . I made a complaint about the Desert saying it was not very nice then everything when down hill from there, the own and landlord had no time for me or my family after woulds the beer is warm as there is no seller and there was only two are beers to choose from. I’m sorry to say if it was not for the staff and own we would return let’s hope they move on and new owners arrive

Chequers is a lovely old building on the banks of the Medway and could easily be a very good pub, that is if the owner and staff could be bothered. During a recent stay in Aylesford we used the Chequers for an evening meal. It was a Saturday evening and the pub was very quiet. I ordered Gammon pineapple and chips only to be informed firstly there was no pineapple and then that there was no gammon. I was offered boiled ham as an alternative. All meals were of a less than average standard and service was slow. Later in the week we returned to Aylesford after a day out and thought we would go down for a drink. It was 9.20 pm and the bar person said she was closing and wouldn’t stay open for even one drink. There were six of us and we would have spent a fair amount of money but she didn’t want to know.

If you’re looking for a tasty Sunday roast, then this is the place! Called in for a family meal, and we were not disappointed. Choice of 3 roast meats, served from the carvery, plus a tasty nut roast for vegetarian in our party. Great value, with excellent selection of vegetables, roast potatoes and parsnips.

Spacious pub in an old building in a lovely old part of Aylesford. Small and very pleasant terrace at the back overlooks the River Medway. Does roast dinners and an average selection of beers. Has a telly, good destination as part of an Aylesford pub crawl.
