Came here with 4 people for a pub lunch whilst in Bath. Food was generous on the portions. Felt food was typical to pub quality-nothing I have not seen before. Pleasant atmosphere and the view from the restaurant area is pretty– ask to sit closer to the windows in the back where you overlook the field. I ordered the veggie burger and it was just okay. The fries were good which made up for it. They bring you ketchup on the side in a little cup. I love ketchup and hate asking restaurants for more. They brought us the tiniest little cup to share between the 4 of us. Was a ketchup portion barely for 1. Might want to be aware of this if you are a ketchup fan and ask for a few for the table as it was difficult to flag down staff after. This would be a nice pub to sit outside on a sunny day as it overlooks such a pretty field.

The Hare and Hounds is now owned by the team that already owns the Chequers and the Marlborough Tavern. It’s been extensively refurbished and with the lovely views across Bath and a relaxed interior it’s a nice place to be. Staff are friendly and welcoming and there is a good wine list. Foodwise it’s ok. We shared a nice antipasti platter Trealy farm cured meats, goats’ cheese, pickled vegetables, cheddar loaf though the goats’ cheese was perhaps a tad too tasty and slightly overwhelmed the meats and definitely overwhelmed the cheddar loaf. Margaret had a home made beefburger with relish and fries, pretty standard, not bad but nothing to write home about. I had a risotto with green peas, beans and parmesan crackling which was very pleasant indeed but lacked that final ‘zing’. Good cheeseboard and a chocolate torte with coffee ice cream were the puddings we shared. Nice ice cream. A bottle of Castillo d Clavijo Rioja(red) was excellent and and a glass of D’Arenburg fortified Shiraz(Australian) very interesting and good. All in £81 for 2 + tip. Worth a visit, but not the best pub food in Bath.
