Loved this spot! Called in for lunch one day and was blown away by the value, service and quality of the place. They’ve got a 4−10−4 offer on each lunch time — mains are a tenner, and starters, sides & deserts are all 4. Unreal. Especially when you’re treated like you’re paying absolute top dollar. This is silver service with you could pay for with loose change! Top tip is to get the foie gras parfait with sourdough. Soo. Good. This whole place is a meaty treat. Avoid if veggie, if not, run there!

First time at Deanes. Excellent value at only £10 for lunch. Had pork belly which was delicious.

Anywhere that calls itself ‘Meatlocker’ is going to be fine with me! And it was fine, actually it was more that fine, it was amazing. Although the décor and vibe of Deanes is classy and refined you can go and have a casual laid back lunch from a simple menu. This may seem like a juxtaposition and hard to believe but I promise I experienced casual dining at it’s best. The lunch menu is really straight forward. you can choose a starter or a side for £4, a main for £10 and a desert for £4 — hence the 4−10−4 Menu. This menu includes delights such as Fole Gras Parfait and Pork Bell which is what I opted for. The fole gras was incredible, it was beautifully presented and served with warm ciabatta — my only complaint was that there wasn’t enough of it. Next up the Pork Belly, this wasn’t just cooked it was created and moulded in to a masterpiece. The beer butter sauce was out of this world — perfect for dipping the accompanying chips in. The service was what you’d expect from a top class restaurant and this makes a really nice change at lunchtime from scrambling staff trying to take your order and get you out the door to ease the rush. I would 100% recommend trying Deanes Meatlocker for lunch — it’s not too pricey and will give you a small slice of afternoon serenity.

Deanes flatters to deceive. With a reputation as being one of the swankiest restaurants in Belfast, one would probably expect a higher standard of cooking. Desserts are strong, and the wine list is extensive, but better quality food is available elsewhere for less.

Having eaten at Deane’s at Queens and the ‘main’ Deane’s it was with much interest I accepted a lunch date to eat at Deane’s Bistro on Bedford Street. Not to be confused with the much more laid back Deli next door, the bistro is a modern slightly more casual take on his trademark restaurants. The lunch menu was pretty extensive and I went for the special of the day which was a chicken dish with caramelised parsnip and green veg. The food arrived quickly and I’m assuming that would’ve suited most of the clientele all of who seemed to having business lunches on expenses. We had a few beers with the lunch and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. The food itself was really good, nice portions and we were able to take our time over the meal and catch up at our leisure. Pros: Excellent food and good value. Cons: Not as casual as some might like.

Deanes is pretty much as upmarket as it gets in Belfast, The restaurant is very chic, very modern and very expensive… students beware! You’d expect to pay £12-£16 for a main corse here and the starters, drinks and desserts are equally expensive! The menu is really rather posh and everything does sound absolutly brilliant! Thats because it is! The food in here is fantastic. Everything is cooked perfectly and presented really really well. The flavours are great and the sea bass was awesome! I went here with my friend and we both agreed that while the food definately reflected the price they really could have done with throwing a bit more on the plate! After spending over £30 each we both went away still slightly hungry which is a shame. But if you’re into small expensive portions, Deanes really is the best

I do enjoy being treated like the good son that I am and nothing is better than being taken out for a spot of lunch by your parents. Sadly, my first and only Deanes experience was not what I wanted. We went in for lunch but the prices for the food did not justify what I got on my plate. Don’t get me wrong, the food was fantastic but to pay nearly £50 for lunch for 3 is a bit stupid. My parents insisted we went here as they had been here for food before and loved it. I can understand why they liked the food but when I looked at the menu and seen £14 for a bit of lunch, I was appalled. If you are a student or on a budget then do not even breathe near here. It’s way too expensive. However if you have just come into money and want to splash out, then the food is wonderful and you won’t be bothered by the price.

I must tell you about our experience. For what Michael Deane offered on his menu(mostly meat based) The staff were awful! Which I qualify by saying compared to all the other people we met in Belfast who were the nicest people! I would re-shuffle my staff and get the menu a bit healthier if I were running this very elegant restaurant. Highly over-rated _needs an over-haul. Value= Expensive Staff=Pretentious Location=Central Ambience=Elegant Try Deane’s Brasserie(around the corner) far nicer

The food here is very good and I have no complaints but it just didn’t live up to the hype for being the best in Belfast and there are a few places I could recommend in preference, hence the missing star. The food also does not merit the extortionate price and that also contributed to the 4* rating.

Went here for my birthday — definitely a restaurant were you go for a special occasion. It is very expensive but worth it. The food and service are something else. The interior is very classy. Got a voucher for Deanes at Christmas and cant wait to use it.

Its the best restaurant in Belfast. Great food and service. Not overly keen on the new(ish) layout but the food is top notch, though so are the prices. Keep this one for a special occassion.
