Hakka is close to my work so we often go for leaving dos etc. But I have to admit I don’t really rate it. Maybe I’m being hasty, it’s not really my idea of a lunch so maybe if I went for dinner it would be different. I book a lot of meals for work and, although it wasn’t up to me this time, Hakka really didnt make it easy. As there were 30 odd of us we needed to pre order. Ok you say. Big deal? Well… They don’t have a menu online so a trainee was selected to collect the menu. So far annoying but not too bad. 2nd problem… They don’t have emails. So we then had to send yet another trainee back the next day with the order. You can order over the phone but with so many people ordering that’s a recipe for disaster. The service was efficient but the girl kept aggressively yelling the orders in people faces! To the point we were all trying not to laugh in her face(sorry!). The food itself was fairly standard for Chinese. You get what you expect I guess. Overall some upgrading is required for me to go back in a rush. Having said that there was a sign saying it was being rebranded as zen in April. So fingers crossed!

I’ve eaten in Hakka once and it was good. The restaurant was quiet when I visited so lacked atmosphere slightly. But I was there for an early, midweek lunch so it’s probably busier at other times. Hakka has an extensive menu. I opted for a standard curry meal. Food was fresh and restaurant décor modern and relaxed. Good spot and I will return to try more dishes.

For a cheap lunch in Belfast city centre, there is nowhere else that can compete. The curry is not processed and the portions are perfect for lunch.

There is only one reason Hakka noodles didn’t get 5 stars, and that is because it was cold! We dined on a bitterly cold Sunday, and arrived shortly after the 1.30pm opening time so maybe the heating had not had a chance to be on. but boy I was foundered! Food wise perfect, i ordered vegetable and prawn dumplings, and what came was a huge steaming bowl filled with lovely little bites from heaven, the GF chose salt and chili squid which was lovely. For my main I had satay noodles with Prawns and herself tries the chicken with noodles, she was not so keen on that as the noodles had some sort of sauce that her delicate palate didn’t like, but all in all it was a great experience. I even managed to eat with chopsticks! Very reasonably priced and the service was quick and friendly. Cant wait to go back

You can’t beat some fresh egg noodles served with some freshly cooked spring onions and soy sauce, yum! And Hakka does this kind of fare down to a t. It is located near enough the Europa hotel and proves very popular as a lunch choice for businesses in the locality. The food is served in ample portions and for only a few pounds you can get some simple chinese food cooked to perfection. Another plus is the staff are friendly and the food is served up pronto.

Hakka Noodle is a really nice wee noodle bar situated in close proximity to the Europa station. They serve both lunch and dinner menu’s and the menu is really good with loads of different variations of noodles! The restaurant is really modern and contemporary and would be a great spot for a date. I arrived just before the lunch rush and during my time there the place just got busier and busier and the best part was that the staff started morphing out f nowhere! Really well organised and managed! I got the beef with ginger noodles and they were really good, I found it a bit strange that the noodles came out hard? But softened under the sauce! It was strange but worked! I would definitely recommend this place for lunch as they have free wifi and are currently getting ready to launch their counter where they will offer sushi, wraps and salads for those on the go! Sure to be a hit.

Gold topped tables, metallic pillars and splashes of red fabric don’t sound like a cool understated decorative scheme for a Chinese restaurant but nevertheless, Hakka Noodle Bar is just that. You can also order a pretty good lunch. I had the beer battered chicken with soba noodles and curried sauce with coconut — an interesting combination which worked. The others enjoyed a chilli beef with crispy noodles, which had a tasty, glossy sauce. Noodles, obviously is the main thing and there is an alternative of a lunch time portion(£5.00), or that’s not enough — it was plenty for me — a dinner portion for £8.00. Service was efficient and friendly. It’s good for a special lunch break from work, though I would certainly be happy to return to sample more choices including starters at a more leisurely pace in the evening.

This little Asian eatery opened in February 2010 and has since proven extremely popular with the local business fraternity in the surrounding area. I was actually invited to a press night for the opening here but couldn’t go in the end. Regardless, I have been several times since and the food really is fantastic, most notably value for money. The menu is a refreshing change from the usual Chinese fare on offer, a tight simple menu. Starters, noodle dishes and soup/noodle meals. The food is always superbly fresh and well seasoned. The roast duck with crispy noodles is a salty, fatty, silky taste explosion. Served with chilli oil and fermented black bean oil. Washed down with a Chinese Tsingtao beer, ok it’s certainly not a well aged craft imperial stout but it compliments the heat from the chilli perfectly. Quick, friendly service on top of fresh well cooked food makes this place a certainty for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Most noodle dishes are sub six pounds so you are truly getting a bargain when you look at the quality of food on offer.

Hakka Noodles, just two doors down from it’s sister Zen, is the cheaper alternative to Zen. As a result, it doesn’t taste AS good. But it’s pretty damn close. Serving winners like chilli squid and Won-Ton noodles, you can’t really go wrong with Hakka(FYI: Some of the sauces are a little too rich, especially the Seafood Noodle, so if you have an easily turned stomach, I advise against). And the staff are adorable. With a nice ambience and décor to it as well, you can’t really go wrong.
