You ever get those moments where you walk in to a business and you say to yourself, ‘Yes — this place is for me’ well that happened to me today when I walked in to The Bay Leaf Deli’. As another customer was opening the door the smell of baked pastries was wafted in my face and as soon as the door creaked closed behind me I was in love. This isn’t your typical trendy deli where they have stacks of feta and have a whole vegan menu. This is a good old-fashioned honest Belfast snack stop that has probably fueled most of Sydenham’s workforce at one time or another. The Bay leaf sells all sorts of sandwiches, pastries and snacks. Including Tayto crisps — you could even make your own crisp sandwich. They also sell 2 litres of milk for 99p, which is insanely cheap! Unfortunately they don’t take card payments but when I was in the older gentleman working directed me to an ATM.
