I must have walked past this place hundreds of times on my travels and for some reason I always thought it looked a bit lonely. You know, never too full and the station setting itself a bit echoey and draughty. Anyway, I popped in for a quick bite and was immediately struck at how friendly the man behind the counter was and then more intrigued by the large selection of sandwiches available. Alongside the usual salads etc they had some nice looking baguettes and I opted for a ham and mozzarella one. Initially I had wanted it toasted like a Panini but the guy patiently explained that it wasn’t toasted, just served ‘hot’. Ok, that sounded a bit worrying but I went for it and it was actually really good. There was a seated area near the windows where a couple of families relaxed on some chunky sofas and I was able to watch the news on TV whilst keeping my eye on the train departures on a 2nd screen. The whole thing was a lot cosier than I had imagined. Pros: Surprisingly good selection of sandwiches, beers, snacks. Cons: Not a brilliant setting.
