Big Fry

They used to be good but the owner has changed and I think it’s not as good as before anymore.

For me, there is nothing better than a good portion of fish and chips and this place is fantastic for just that. When I first popped in here I thought that it was clean and tidy, which I always think is very important for a place that serves food. I was greeted by the staff who were very friendly and polite and they made chit chat with me whilst I waited for them to get my food ready. I ordered my usual dish of fish and chips, which was of a moderate price — I have paid less for fish and chips in Birmingham, but I suppose the quality is good and it is worth that little bit more here. When my food was ready I was pleased and quickly left, when I got round to eating I was impressed the chips were great and the fish was very tasty. I will be visiting again and I recommend it.

I was in the area today and decided on having fish and chips. The closest fish and chip shop was the Big Fry. The aroma of fish and chips in the air is addictive and I sad to satisfy my needs.
Big Fry is housed in a small shop, but the fryers are deep and big. I chose the classic Fish and Chips. I could tell I was eating good quality fish by the texture and taste of the cod. The chips were golden brown and had a buttery taste to them. The batter wasn’t too thick and it didn’t fill me up. The portion sizes were excellent, I could have shared mine.
I love a good fish and chip shop and this one has a nice traditional feel to it. The menu is extensive and all of it is deep fried. They also sell accompaniments such as mushy peas, pickled onions and curry sauce. I had all three with my dinner; the curry sauce was especially good.

For such a petite fish and chips shop surrounded by other local fish and chip bars, Big Fry delivers great quality to your standard English fish and chips meal but for quite a pricey charge. Their service is satisfactory and they deal with every customer with smiles and warm greetings. Whenever I pop into this fish and chip bar I order a classic cheese burger with salad and barbeque sauce which they make fresh for you within minutes which is a great and positive reassurance that your meal is going to piping hot as well just been made. For any fish and chip bar this is a superb aspect and quality, because really, who wants stale chips and a crusty made burger for their dinner, even if it is a cheap meal from the corner store…
