After discovering bubble tea a few years ago in Asia, I love that the trend has reached the UK. By trend I mean this is definitely a novelty drink, chewy/popping bubble balls in an ice tea or fruity pop. Fab location to get your bubble teas without going into Chinatown. Prices are reasonable and the cup has a cute panda on it, what more can you ask for. Service is speedy despite the long queues on the weekend.

I’ve heard of bubble tea before and in honesty tried it from here before but being so excited yet inexperienced I probably picked a really bizarre combination. Lychee juice with tapioca balls — yay… The lychee juice was really nice but not with the pudding balls. This time around I went for black tea, cold with the tapioca balls(I’d heard those are the best ones) and I was happy with this combo — don’t mess with the classics. The staff were friendly, the place clean and the menu extensive. Frozen yoghurt also available which sounds great in the summer. A point to make though is those tapioca balls are really really filling. I felt like I’d eaten a meal after I was done so maybe give them a miss if you’ve just eaten.

The current trend for asian style bubble tea has led to quite a few places opening up in Birmingham. This is a stand in the lower mall of the Bullring shopping centre. It’s in a new position now and sends to have landed in a popular spot. The menu of drinks is pretty extensive, and there is always a queue. A small drink is £3, and a large is £3.50. Choose from a huge selection of milky, or fruity based drinks. Then add either black tea, green tea, or no tea at all. The options are then open again, this time for jelly, tapioca pearls, or popping bubbles. Finally, you can decide if you want your drink to be hot, cold, or slushy. Phew! We ordered a few drinks, and it took about five minutes for our order to be completed. The drinks were very sweet with the addition of the popping bubbles. But the drinks were refreshing, and tasty. Also available are frozen yogurt cups with a range of toppings. These are pretty good, but I prefer to have a slushy bubble tea to cool me down instead.

I love Bubble Tea. When I heard that the original Meecha was closing, I was a little bit devastated… but upon seeing their new and improved(much larger unit) on the bottom floor of the Bullring, my heart rejoiced! As well as the amazing previous offerings of Meecha, there are now tables(actual seats) that you can sit and enjoy your choice of hot/cold drink and frozen yoghurt in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Bullring. As well as Bubble Tea, they also offer Bubble Coffee as well as a large selection of toppings and friendly and upbeat service to go with it. I settled on a «Green Tea Latte(Matcha)» base and was recommended yoghurt popping bubbles to go with this. I was a little bemused, but I thought«why not?» and went for this option. The staff are on hand to give you advice and suggestions throughout the process and the packaging and design is cute and colourful. A fairly generous serving was only £3 and the experience was actually pretty darn great. I wouldn’t chose to while away the hours relaxing here, but it’s a great spot to grab a fun drink and people watch if you’re waiting on friends or just want a break from shopping. Why not pop down and give a Meecha Bubble tea(or coffee) a try?

Spent whole day walking around city centre and bullring. Beautiful sunny day, blood is boiling and need to cool down. Bottle of water won’t do. Went to this place, located on middle floor of bullring on Selfridges side. They do bubble tea and frozen yoghurt. I’m not a fan of bubble tea, I like to take a healthier option when I can. I got the Orginal frozen yoghurt with fresh fruits toppings, you can have as many toppings as you like. Theres fresh fruits and other types of sweets you can have. Different flavours of sauce/syrup to add to your yoghurt I’ve been here few times, can’t go wrong with frozen yoghurt. I haven’t tried their bubble tea. It’s on my list. Staff had smile the whole time and polite

I saw this by chance on a walk through Bull Ring coming back from Digbeth as it’s not my usual haunt. I first came across bubble tea in Washington DC, even though it was Christmas week, the sign that said ‘bubble tea’ lured me into a side street and into this tiny café. Upon asking what bubble tea was — I’m not a tea drinker ordinarily — I’m told it tastes like drinking gummy bears through ice tea. So this I had to try. I’ve seen the ‘bubble tea’ sign many times since in North America but alas they’ve always run out(!) or the café is closed. So to see Moo-Cha on my doorstep had me leap for joy. Bubble Tea is actually made with tapioca to get the gummy bear affect and it has to be drunk through special wide straws. Here it appears to be made in three different ways; with green tea, black tea or indeed no tea, It’s really a little bit gimmicky but a fun refreshing drink nonetheless. Oh and there’s a loyalty card which always helps.

I flippin’ LOVE bubble tea! Those refreshing milk shaky flavours with the chewy weirdness of the tapioca bubbles, popping out of the straw into your mouth… love it! This little kiosk in the Bullring is just perfect for a mid shop refreshment. They offer lots of flavours and frozen yoghurt too, which is so much better for you than ice cream but tastes almost the same. If you’ve not had bubble tea before then try Taro flavour — it’s delicious! I definitely recommend Moo-Cha and you should add them on Facebook to keep up to date with offers too. I just wish they were a little bit cheaper as I don’t like spending £3 on something which contains no alcohol!

When I was leaving Brazil to live here, in 2011, the frozen yogurt shops were becoming quite popular in my city, Santos. For being on a coast it seemed to fit perfectly with the beach vibe. So I was quite surprised when I have spotted Moo-Cha kiosk, at Bullring Shopping centre. Frozen yogurt is quite popular not just for their unique and unusual combination of flavours but also for being low calories. Quite healthy, really, if you don’t exaggerate on the topping, of course. Gorgeous and refreshing in the summer! I do confess I didn’t try a Bubble Tea option from their menu yet but it’s definitely something to do soon. yes, I love the fact there is a frozen yogurt shop this quality here in Birmingham and I am sure it can be something bigger and spread for the country soon!
